Hi Van i ordered these size 43 EU boots, when I tried them on I felt that the front of the foot was very free and I could lift the toes they felt wide. The advice you give is to order a size smaller than what we wear, I wear a 43 on normal shoes and now I have ordered a 42 of these boots. They should arrive in the week. I hope they will be fine this time. Thank you for your video.
I like the new pull on the heel of the V2 bootie. FYI, for any new track day riders or boot wearers…… use an exhaust spring puller to zip the boots up. It makes a mildly impossible task with your fingers super easy. 👍
I appreciate all the videos on here very much.. but I must comment on sizing for this boot.. I take a EUR 42 or size 8 UK in a sneaker, also have had and ridden in SMX Plus, SMX 6 and Sidi ST's and now these Supertech R.. all were sized in EUR 42 or UK size 8 and the Supertechs fit excellently, just right for me, a little bit of toe space and are very comfy. I was worried about people saying these wear big and to buy the next size down, well I can say its not true for me. Bearing in mind people's feet can be wide and long and all shapes and sizes.. so just try before you buy.
We are all shaped a little differently so this advice may not be accurate for everyone. I can add we have sold literally thousands of Supertech R Boots over many seasons now and have found this to be accurate well over 90% of the time. Thanks for watching and for sharing your feedback. - Van
Hey, thanks a lot for your honest and straightforward review and opinions. Would you recommend this boot for somebody not riding on the track, but who just wants good protection when going riding upright on a naked/supermoto bike? I like the idea of the inner boot and the looks of the Supertechs
Yes I would recommend this boot to anyone riding on the track or the street. They are so comfortable to walk and ride in they will be ass good on the street as they are the track. - Van
So I wear a size 9 US / 43 EUR on my alpinestars Smx- 1 R v2 and it’s slightly snug even after 2 years of use. Not too snug to hurt my foot but I can feel the toe all the way to the front of my boots nd snug on the sides. A little uncomfortable but not something to complain about. Should I stick with size 9 or go with 8? Great review as always Van 👍🏼
We find these run one size larger for almost everyone. If you are normally a size 9 / 43 EU I would go with the 42 EU. When you get the boots make sure to wear them in the house and walk around on the carpet to see how they fit. If there is any issue we can set up a return and get you the next size up. These boots are expensive so you want to make sure you get the fit you need. - Van
Great video! Finally looking to update to a the new supertech r's. I have the old version and love them. is the sizing the same as my older supertech r's?
Hey Brian Van I’m a big fan of your review style and wisdom You’re killing it man Could you please give me and other people size advice for 11 1/2 to 12 shoe size for these V2 boots Thanx bro
I have the Ridefaster shoes and they’re size 44. They fit fairly good, not tight or loose. I noticed the size chart is different for the Supertech R’s. What would you suggest? TIA!
I just realized that if you measure your foot and if your foot falls in between the shoe inside length and comfort size than you pick that one. It best if you measure your feet in cm
I'm a size 9.5 US which equates to a 44 euro, I tried ordering a 43 and the size felt amazing, but I couldn't get the zipper up past 1/3 of the way. I do have stupidly large calves from walking 7-10 miles per day at work. That was the previous version, but in this video you mentioned they added a larger stretch panel. Would you recommend I try the 43 again with the new version? Regarding the inner boot, do the leathers go inside the inner boot or outside of it? I put the leathers on the inside because the outside didn't make sense.
I would try the 43 in the new boots. The new stretch panel should help quite a bit. Max and I both put the leg of the suit over the outside of the inner bootie. - Van
I feel like you're personally attacking me with the inner lace "don't go yanking on it" comments. I break those laces so quickly and was hoping the V2 had made them a bit more yank safe. Looks like they have also weakened the lace holder parts on the inner boot. Older Supertech's had the lace looped through metal rings, now it is fabric/leather.
@ThemadViking793 Yep, mine too are 6.5 years old and in good working condition, only with usual bit of wear, im only upgrading to match the colour to the new suit, and its nice to still have a spare set of boots on hand in good usable condition, Then again im also the type of person to wash/ wipe my suit & boots down after every weekend , some people never even wash or wipe down their suit some people even throw it in a plastic tub all sweaty until the next track day , then again everyone cares for their belongings differently then again it makes you wonder why they complain haha
I've got a really old pair of SMX+ boots in 46EU, which fits my size 11US, slightly wide feet just fine. It's time to retire those and either get the Supertech R V2 or the SMX+ V2. Based on this video and your review of the new SMX+, should I go with 44EU? Is the Supertech really worth that extra $100 compared to the SMX+?
The Supertech are the best boots on the market and worth the extra spend if it is in the budget. I wear a 12 US with a wide foot and wear a 45 Euro in the Supertech and SMX Plus. - Can
Hi Van, I dont know if this video is to old. Viewed it with your great advice and opinions about the Supertech R several times.... For one season, 10 days, on track have used the RST TracTech Evo 3 Sport SP in EU size 42. Immediately they felt too loose on my feet, so I put in an extra insole 6 mm high. But they still feels a bit loose. Also, maybe because of the extra sole, I don't get that much feedback from the bike. So I want to upgrade to the Supertech R. Thinking about order EU size 41 but.... On my offroad bike I use Alpinestars Tech 7 in EU size 43 and with that boots many buckels I can adjust to get a real snug fit or comfy fit. Can you please advice me on wich size? BR Owe
I think the sizing is 1 up for all AStars boots. I've got the SMX S in a 9 and wear 10US in anything else. I don't think it's the same for women's boots, my wife has the SMX 6 v2 true to size.
@@sportbiketrackgear thank you the last 50/50 tire I rode was from Michelin was the Power Supersport Evo and it is my Favorite tire to date interms of tactile feel/ stickiness of the compound. The RS felt very very stable. But I liked the triangular profile of the SS Evo more. I'm hoping that sharper profile, RS Stability, and sticker felt has merged with the New Power GP. I'm itching to find out. Many thanks and look forward to it.
Brain, would you recommend buying the V2 over the original Supertech R boots? Is there enough of a difference to upgrade my current pair to the V2? Cheers
Hi, do these break in regarding width? Got mine and they are a little snug on the widest part of my foot, not painful just snug. If they give in just a little i think it would be perfect.
Yes, these boots will break in as you wear them. If they are snug but not painful right out of the box they should be perfect after a short period of use. - Van
How’s the ventilation in the standard R compared to the vented version? I can’t find it in stock in my size anywhere but I found the standard. Wondering if it’s still worth getting (considering the TCX instead)
Hi, so my foot is 25cm long and a bit wide i think. I used a size 40 on Rs Taichi RSS011 and still have a bit of room in it. What size would you reccomend for a supertech R?
I could help more if you gave me your US shoes size. I would suggest using the size chart for Alpinestars and selecting one size smaller than what the chart recommends. - Van
what's up with alpinestars and their inventory? it seems like they didn't produce many boots because the only colors left in my size are the black ones and i don't want to spend $500 for black boots that look like anything else.
I’ve got a pair of Alpinestars SMX-1 short boots in a size 50, I noticed these only go to a 48, would the 48 in these be too small for my giant ass foot? The SMX-1 fits great but are discontinued and I’d like something with more protection as well. Thanks man
Yes, I’m wondering this, too ... I’m an EU 43 in the last version of Supertech R. Do I stick with that size for the v2 ... ie is the sizing consistent with the previous gen of Supertech R?
STG I’d really appreciate your help and advice. I ordered these at size 45 and on the inner boot there’s a finger with of room above the toes. They don’t feel loose or too big but I’m concerned they could end up being too loose. Should I size down to 44?
If you are questioning the fit I would order one size down and try them on to be safe to make sure you have the fit you are happy with. Make sure to walk around on the carpet to keep them in new condition so you can return the pair you will not be using. There are really expensive so you want to make sure you are happy. - Van
I feel like these run one size larger than marked. In the SP1 I would wear a 46 euro, in the Supertech R boots I wear a 45 euro. Hope this helps. - Van
My left ankle is too fat to fit every boot that my right ankle likes, (maisonneuve fracture) what should I do now that I'm getting back into things? Not opposed to custom.
So I just bought these, and while wearing it, I noticed that the left foot tends to have a more "click" sound to it. Is that normal? These are my 1st riding boots, so I'm not sure.
Just ordered an Atom V3. What would be a good boot to complement the suit. I currently own a pair of SMX6 V2. Should that be good or should I upgrade into something else.
Cant speak for the tech R's , but i recently upgraded from the SMX6 v2 to the SMX v2 Plus, and it looks and feels way sturdier, but as comfortable as the smx6 v2. Could be a very good in between option if you dont want to spend like 500 on a boot.
I wear size 43, which is usually a size 10 US for most shoes out there, I have a Dainese axial D1 (size 43/US 10) which fits perfect, wanna get the supertech ones but size 43 for them is a size 9 US, that's a bit confusing so, which one should I go for? EU 43/US 9 or some other size? Thanks
I would go with the 43 euro. We have found these boots to run larger than marked by about 1 full size. If there is any issue with the fit we can get them returned. The only way to truly verify the fit is to try them on. - Van
I wear supertech r and my left toe always gets scraped for shifting after the riding session even when i have two layers of socks on. Could it be my boots are way too fit that i need to go up a size?
It for sure sounds like you are having some fitting issues. I have these boots and they would be way too tight if I tried to wear 2 pair of socks under them. Perhaps yours are too big??? - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Sorry for the confusion. I only put on 2 pair of socks to prevent my left toe gets scraped again (it happens with 1 pair of socks as well), now i am wondering if i go up a size to have more room in the boots my toe won't gets injured again.
@@aragon0329 I scrape my toe sliders sometime (usually from bad /lazy foot peg position) I also am a size 9 and got my Supertech V1s in a A-star 43/9 and Like Van says they do run a size big, I think the lazy foot peg position and the extra size in the boot because they run larger both contribute to the toe-slider hitting the ground. for the new pair i have ordered a size smaller as per Vans recommendation (size42) i think the slightly smaller boot and more of an effort with less lazier foot position should stop the toe sliders grounding out. there is no way id be able to fit 2 pairs of socks on in my 43 A-stars which are already a bit too big, if you can fit 2 pairs of sock you boots surely must be way to big for your feet.
Personally I always go for the ventilated model when they are available. That said I have ridden in both versions if the vented were not available. - Van
The Supertech R is the first version. All of the versions of the Supertech boots are available in a perforated version for ventilation. The Supertech R V2 is the latest version of the Supertech Boot. - Van
Hi STG Im wearing DC freetime shoes size 45 nice and snugg, Nike training shoes for me is 46 eu as I have Sidi Vortice boots 46 eu, what size the supertec r I should wear? Regards
@@sportbiketrackgearordered Supertech R 45 spot on and the most comfortable boots right out of the box, you are complietly Right about them Van. Thank you again.
@van i bought the older ones on closeout. I spoke to the support team and they had emailed back sizing to be same as all the other astar line up which was wrong, like you said they run bigger. I screwed up and trashed the box. Now i am stuck with boots that are too big. I bought 44 per the recommendation and should have bought43. Can you help? Even willjng to pay restocking etc. Please? I even tried to sell on facebook for $300 and no takers

Email returns@sportbiketrackgear.com and tell them I approved an exchange where you will send the boots back, we will keep the box from the new pair and use that to package up and resell the boots you have now. - Van
In terms of safety, which boot would you recommend: SIDI Rex or A* Supertech R V2? I can't decide between the two but don't know if it even matters at this level.
@@chrisop4428 I hear you and certainly understand what you’re implying. The issue is that not everyone uses them (e.g. Rossi wears Dainese). So, I guess my question really is, if it wasn’t for sponsorships and brand deals, what boot would *every* pro use if they could choose? Would it be the supertechs?
@@felixsosa3949 Think about how many times Marc Marquez has high sided and never broken an ankle. That alone is enough for me to think these are one of the safest boots available.
@@RobertPaulson87 yeah that is generally my line of thinking too. I agree with what both you and @coppa are saying and am 99% sure I’m going with these boots. I currently have a full dainese suit but the lack of torso protection with D-air is recently a big concern for me, hence the switch to alpinestars.
I was looking at multiple before getting my Supertechs, try them on. The Sidis did not work on my feet at all, but the Astars did. TCX was the worst for me, along with Dainese (which is a shame because I like the under suit design)
I use the Supertech R and i have a very wide foot! Iam wearing a size 42 boot (should probably go with the 41) and the boot is not wide enough for me. it leads to discomfort and even pain (because the shoe is building up pressure on the outside of my foot where the plastic reinforcement of the inner shoe sits and meets the fabric). Can u recommend a top of the line race boot for people like me? thanks in advance :) ps. taking the sole out doesn't fix the problem
I had the same issue with the Supertech R. I ended up with Daytona Security Evos instead. Only slightly wider, but just enough that it works for me. Construction of the boot and materials are quite different from the A*, so I would recommend trying before buying.
I’m a 9.5 US ‘race fit’ (10 US ‘casual fit’) in Nikes, and EU 43 always fit me well in AStars *full-lemgth* boots ... 42 are too small; 44 are too loose ... If that’s any help to you. I have an average/slightly wide foot (def not a narrow foot, anyway).
What's up B - well man I think your sizing info is off, not Alpinestars. If a 46 in those boots is too big for you then you're not a 12US. I've been a 12US my whole adult life (I'm about the same age as you) and I wear a 12 in everything from flip-flops/house slippers to athletic/dress shoes/boots and everything in between. I also wear a 46 euro in everything including motorcycle boots and I have found that at least in the major brands like Alpinestars, Dainese, Sidi and TCX (I currently own a pair of all of these except Sidi) their conversion of a 46 to US sizing is within a half size of a 12 - Alpinestars and Sidi convert to 11.5US, Dainese to a 12.5US and TCX to a 12US. I will note that a 46 in Sidi boots fit me but the toe is too narrow - I tried a 47 and the toe width was good but I had major heel slippage because they were too long. Now you've said you wear a 12 in DC skate shoes but whenever you've showed them on camera they appear to be loosely fitting on your feet - so what size do you wear in athletic shoes like Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, etc., specifically the ones you wear at the gym or run/play ball in? I ask because an athletic shoe that you workout/play ball in must fit precisely or you stand a good chance of turning your ankle or blowing out your knee and at the very least they will be uncomfortable.
We have only sold hundreds (if not thousands) of these boots. This recommendation works for almost every rider and is based off years of first hand experience. Like I said in the video there are exceptions to every rule. The information I put out there is accurate. I have ridden in more boots, helmets, gloves, suits, etc... than any other retailer out there. That experience it used as a baseline for all of this. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear ok B so did you follow up with those hundreds if not thousands of riders who bought these boots to be able to say "this recommendation works for almost EVERY rider?" Because I've bought gloves, jackets, etc., from you and no one ever followed up with me. All I can tell you is numbers don't lie, EVER - both of my feet MEASURE 11.5 inches from the back of my heel to the tip of my big toe and I wear a 12US and a 46 euro all day long across the board (including A* boots), even size 46 boots with no laces fit (no heel sliding). I tried on a 45 in the newest SMX-Plus and it did not fit - although I could get my foot in the boot with some prodding, it was very tight and uncomfortable, a 46 was perfect for what my feet MEASURE. So if a 46 in those boots are too big you're simply not a size 46 euro or size 12US, a quality company like A*s is not a whole size/size and a half off the mark (as PROVEN by my MEASUREMENTS) otherwise a size 46 would not fit me, I'd have the same problem you have and I don't. Like I said it looks like you wear regular shoes loosely or too big with them flip-flopping off your feet and you're trying to bring that sizing over to motorcycle boots and it just doesn't work, so again if you will, what size shoe (and brand) do you workout or play ball in, I see you failed to answer that question - or better yet why don't you actually MEASURE your feet instead of basing sizing off skate shoes (or any other shoes) and let us know what your feet MEASURE. Thanks and keep up the good work I'm just here to point out a few things you might want to tweak for accuracy...
@@sportbiketrackgear What's up Van - so did you actually measure your foot like I suggested or are you going to continue to misrepresent Alpinestars and spread misinformation? Because the information you're putting out there is in fact not accurate - Alpinestars sizing is based according to your MEASURED foot, not according to the size you wear in some other brand of crappy American shoes that aren't even motorcycle boots, which is comparing apples and oranges. If you measure your foot (from the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe) you will find that not only does your foot not measure 12 inches like you think and have been led to believe by inaccurate American sizing, but that what it does measure will be spot on with Alpinestars' marked US size, or at least not nearly as off as you claim them to be. Alpinestars is more accurate than American sizing, which makes sense because the more accurate and precise they are the higher level of comfort and protection you will get from their boots and that's huge. Like I said I wear a 12US all day long in American shoes but my foot actually measures 11.5 inches and I wear a 46 (11.5US) in A* boots which fit me the exact same as a 12US American shoe/boot. So what does your foot actually measure? I'm curious and you should also want to save some frustration from customers who may measure their foot, find the matching size on the A*s sizing chart and then go down a size based on your advice which would end up in them getting boots that are a size too small. Oh and btw, you said you wear a 12US which would put you in a 47 in these boots, yet you had to go down TWO sizes to get a fit - A*s is not two sizes off, so this is a good indication that your foot doesn't actually measure 12". I don't know how you can claim that Alpinestars' sizing is off when you're not even following their sizing instructions with a foot measurement but instead are telling people to go down a size from whatever random pair of shoes they wear which makes ZERO sense.
@@skygodsam1 WTF are you talking about man? You do realize this is an ONLINE retailer and you can't try the shit on before you buy it and have it shipped to you, don't you? The bottom line is A-stars size chart is not based on a shoe size you wear in some random brand but on the actual measurement of your foot - so measure your f'ng foot, it's that simple, or is that too complicated?

We find these run one size larger for almost everyone. If you are normally a size 9 / 43 EU I would go with the 42 EU. When you get the boots make sure to wear them in the house and walk around on the carpet to see how they fit. If there is any issue we can set up a return and get you the next size up. These boots are expensive so you want to make sure you get the fit you need. - Van
Great video! Finally looking to update to a the new supertech r's. I have the old version and love them. is the sizing the same as my older supertech r's?
Thanks for watching, the sizing is the same as the previous version. - Van
Hey Brian Van I’m a big fan of your review style and wisdom You’re killing it man Could you please give me and other people size advice for 11 1/2 to 12 shoe size for these V2 boots Thanx bro
You will need the 45 Euro with an 11.5 to 12 US shoe. Thanks for watching. - Van
I have the Ridefaster shoes and they’re size 44. They fit fairly good, not tight or loose. I noticed the size chart is different for the Supertech R’s. What would you suggest? TIA!
it be really cool and nice if you can have an option to just buy outershells
Sorry they are available only as a complete pair. - Van
I just realized that if you measure your foot and if your foot falls in between the shoe inside length and comfort size than you pick that one. It best if you measure your feet in cm
I have never tired that. - Van
LOL you need to be a little easier on them if you want them to last. My pair is like 3 years old. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear My oldest Supertechs are 8 years old and are still in an almost perfect condition. 😅
- Can
Hi Van,
I dont know if this video is to old.
Viewed it with your great advice and opinions about the Supertech R several times....
For one season, 10 days, on track have used the
RST TracTech Evo 3 Sport SP in EU size 42.

This is an excellent pair of boots! - Van
I think the sizing is 1 up for all AStars boots. I've got the SMX S in a 9 and wear 10US in anything else. I don't think it's the same for women's boots, my wife has the SMX 6 v2 true to size.
We have found this to be the case with the sport boots we have reviewed. - Van

While they are both good boots I prefer the Supertech R. Max and I both wear the Astars boots. - Van
I want a review of the Power GP tires.... please!!!
I have not ridden on those tires personally but will try to shoot a video with feedback from someone who has. - Van
I just put on a pair of Power 5s, (which should be about the same?), and I feel like I'm on RAILS with my '21 Gixxer 1000. :-)~
Brain, would you recommend buying the V2 over the original Supertech R boots? Is there enough of a difference to upgrade my current pair to the V2? Cheers
I would not replace a pair that are still in good condition. The changes made are small. - Van
- Van

I would expect they will do the limited edition boots as time goes on. - Van
How are these walking around if I wanted to use it for street riding, compared to Forma Ice Pro Flow or TCX Race RT pro?
Most comfortable race boots ever. - Van
How’s the ventilation in the standard R compared to the vented version? I can’t find it in stock in my size anywhere but I found the standard. Wondering if it’s still worth getting (considering the TCX instead)
I have worn both and did not have a major issue with the non vented boots. While I prefer the vented I will wear either one. - Van

how well do you think these boots hold up to motorcycle crashes?
Ive seen some reviews that the boot falls apart after a crash at 40 mph.
Both Max and I have crashed in these many times over the years and can say they hold up excellent. - Van
So Van, if I am an EU 41 in the last version of this boot, I need to order a EU 40 in the new boot?
Yes, I’m wondering this, too ... I’m an EU 43 in the last version of Supertech R. Do I stick with that size for the v2 ... ie is the sizing consistent with the previous gen of Supertech R?
No order the same size. - Van

STG I’d really appreciate your help and advice. I ordered these at size 45 and on the inner boot there’s a finger with of room above the toes. They don’t feel loose or too big but I’m concerned they could end up being too loose. Should I size down to 44?

Cant speak for the tech R's , but i recently upgraded from the SMX6 v2 to the SMX v2 Plus, and it looks and feels way sturdier, but as comfortable as the smx6 v2. Could be a very good in between option if you dont want to spend like 500 on a boot.

@@chrisop4428 I hear you and certainly understand what you’re implying. The issue is that not everyone uses them (e.g. Rossi wears Dainese). @@RobertPaulson87 yeah that is generally my line of thinking too. I agree with what both you and @coppa are saying and am 99% sure I’m going with these boots. ps. taking the sole out doesn't fix the problem
I had the same issue with the Supertech R. I ended up with Daytona Security Evos instead. Only slightly wider, but just enough that it works for me. Construction of the boot and materials are quite different from the A*, so I would recommend trying before buying.
The only other boot I would recommend is a TCX. They are also a solid option for riders with wide feet. - Van
@X Y by very wide foot what do you mean in term of cm/inches?

@@sportbiketrackgear Thanks Van!
@@gmoney4337 Dude, lighten the F up... that's why you try them on! Geeez....
