Now what you should do is make a new video for 2016 doing the same route to celebrate 50 years later and the improvements. P.S. I live in Squamish and yes thank you for the improvements!!
This is gold! And my first thought was that I'd like to do exactly that; superimpose this video into one of my dashcam videos. I'll plan to do this and let you know when/if I have something, and with your permission, perhaps I can share further.
We used to have picnics at the bluff by Deeks Creek bridge (can't stop there now) and Brownie Lake (Now Murrin Lake). The last bit of the film heading to Alice lake also brought back fond memories. Did it stop there or is there more after that? I would love to see more if there is more. There's a video on here of the drive to Whistler when the road was a single track. Worth checking out.
what I see is there were a lot more passing lanes back then. road looks pretty much the same pre olympics, but many more passing lanes, probably because people knew how to drive back then. right up until you hit Britannia Beach then it all gets really old school. Good video
So... I assembled a now and then comparison of this footage: 2016, 2008 and this 1966 reel. MinistryofTranBC, may I have your permission to share the result? Also, would you like me to include any copyright or attribution messages in the video (in addition to credit in the description.
Awesome Ken! Yes, please go ahead and share. We're excited to see the result. Please attribute our footage to BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure :)
Here's the footage synchronized with the same views from 2016 and 2008: ruclips.net/video/-Q1uFowzqUQ/видео.html
Well done!
