If you have a tight budget, get 6,5" adapters for the front doors to replace the original 5,25" boxes. Install Hertz or Audison mid basses with high sensitivity, 93-93,5 db spl. Then get some 8ohm home tweeters. Keep the stock mids. The front doors will set you back around 100€.
Thanks for your video. Very helpful in deciding to upgrade my audio to these speakers. Just placed my order. But having AL & ED's order and install it for me
Cool review. I recently went from a 96 523i with nav to a 02 525i m sport with base stereo system. So both were non-dsp, but for some reason the 525i sounds much better. Perhaps the little stereo powers them better or something. For years too I've been looking at bavsound and I've even seen some wooden adapter type things that you can put in the front door to put larger speakers. Coming from my old E39, I've come from some horrible speakers to some ordinary ones. For now that suits seeing as I have to go through alllll the routine maintenance and standard pre-emptive fanfare again. Interesting to hear they aren't shipping down this way anymore. Perhaps somewhere down the road I might have another look. Enjoy your new speakers.
Thanks Adam :) Yeh possibly just the car being newer, the speakers are probably in better health also. They would have made quite a few updates over the years to the speakers/stereo i'd imagine :) I'd never seen those adapters but even going with bigger speakers would still mean running splits/crossovers, more wiring and another amp which I didn't really want to do. Unless you just went with 2 way speakers or something and ran them off a 4ch amp. I know what you mean about the routine maintenance/replacements. That's why after quite a few years and a bit of cash spent on this car, I really want to keep it. I know all of the things I have replaced and what does and doesn't need doing anymore. I'm doing a clutch fan delete and radiator replacement on it soon also. Yeh if you want the speakers, just get in touch with Southern BM and they can get them for you (if you are in Australia).
I'm going to upgrade my speaker as well. I have the Professional series but without ext amp and dps (Becker cd54 pro) Believe its still its just the std speakers. I will check out these Bavsound speakers you can see they are more high end speakers. I have other wise good experience from Kenwood component series (quit many year ago) but they had a really natural sound best tweets I ever heard. Don't remember the name of them but they were Kenwoods premium speaker at the time. To bad its to tight to fit 6.5" in the boxes. Perhaps in the back in my touring let's see. nice video ones again!
I'm extremely happy with them :) Yeh Kenwood make very decent speakers, I had some in a car many years ago as well. It's just really hard to find any different speakers for the e39 without hacking holes in things ,etc lol but that's where Bavsound saves the day :)
I have an e39 wagon, got the stage 1 kit like you did, what are the equalizer settings supposed to be? bass is distorted but highs sound good and clear
@@jackbowescinema8002 yeah considering you have either the stock radio or maybe an eonon unit, something with more power than lets say a single din JVC or kenwood or something of that nature. But highs are amazing.
It would definitely help if you have a subwoofer because the lows on the bavsound (or most speakers for that matter) distort quite easily with a bit of bass.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I just got my Bav Sound upgrades for my E39 M5 and can't wait to install them. Curious, what head unit did you go with? It resembles the stock unit, which I think looks terrific.
That's awesome man! You're going to love them, 100x better than stock :) I have the Eonon GA7201 - I have also done a video review on that unit, I love it :)
Hey bro I have an e39 528i 1999. So my speakers are shot the sound is very muffled now since the cars 21 years old. I have the original radio and speakers. The radio I’m looking to keep thought unless I need to change it. But the speakers I’m looking at changing out and using Bavsound. Do you think I would need a new radio or just the speakers will do fine ? Thanks bro !
Hey Nick :) just by changing the speakers you will get a huge improvement in sound over the stock ones, especially because of the age of them. I hope that helps :)
Michael Ronin thanks bro ! They’re on back order right now sadly, have to wait till august to order. I don’t need to change the Radio right I can leave the original in the car ?
I have unplug those mids in the front with mine. I agree they are complete garbage and add nothing in my opinion. I think the reason why they don't Supply them in the kit is there is a mid bypass filter that is used stock. It's inline right with the door panel, and since that Mid goes through that filter, it won't matter what you plug into it cuz it will sound terrible no matter what
i installed my speakers and the bass was not as good as the regular hifi speakers and that's because i plugged everything in. There's some songs that sounded so much better on my old speakers than these ones and idk why 🤷🏿♂️ The bass imfeels as if it ain't all there.
Do you have an aftermarket head unit? You may just have to have a play around with the tuning of the head unit. My bavsound speakers were worlds better than my stock ones
@@MichaelRoninTV yea I have an eonon head unit and I have been playing with the amplifier settings but when I turn the lower range (unlike before) it sounds muddy... like it's struggling to push the bass I don't know. The bass is starting to sound a little better after about a week of installing so i don't know if it needs to be broken in but there's still some songs where i don't get that same punchy bass like I did with the older speakers.
@@MichaelRoninTV to add to that it only sounds like that in the front midranges (front doors) that sound muddy... the midranges I put in rear sound really good. So I don't know... I contacted bavsound about it but they never contacted me back. Might just take it to a shop and get it tuned correctly/fixed to see if i hooked anything up wrong which... if obviously brown is negative and red is positive then i'm sure i did but who knows.
@@cruzzguzman yeh just have it looked at to see if it could be tuned better. Do you have a subwoofer in yours? I do, so maybe that's why it sounds great

Great 👍🏾 song by the way!! 90’s classic
Wonderful job on the video too I’ll be getting Bavsound for my E60
+Rugerman205 awesome, I think you're going to love them!

Czy te głośniki są takie same jak oryginalne? Chodzi o parametry?
How is the bass?
Much much better than the standard speakers, I also have a sub though so it does help to provide even more bass :)
Michael Ronin Can you hear the deep bass notes through the speakers on the door? I was hoping I wouldn't have to install a subwoofer.
Yes, the bass has increased significantly, even without the sub:)

I’m thinking of getting them for my wagon. Do they have a decent amount of bass before they distort?

They are still sounding great :)

Where u get the head unit from
Hey Kenneth :) it's an Eonon head unit and it's been really good. I've got a review on my channel on it, if you're interested give it a watch.
What head unit is that?
It's an Eonon GA7201 :)
