Amazing! Thanks a lot!
Great information.
Amazing video, I would love to see more about apps backend design and performance;)
Great video thanks a lot! I have one question: When applying the supabase trigger, u can't find the Bearer [token] for Authorization in the success log. I have a certain row level security so on an insert in a table, there needs to be a valid token e.g. the Authorization. How do u deal with this problem?
VERY USEFUL DEMO! Worth watching as always!! So how does it compare to N8N? Never tried n8n but I know you demoed it as well a while back. Firebase vs Supabase is like non-relational vs relational and so the reason why I also prefer Supabase for sure. How would you simply compare n8n to Buildship?
Are there any good competitors to Buildship? It seems that you 'could' do the same functionality with aws lambdas but granted not as easy as Buildship
Great video. On the superbase dashboard we can found triggers. What’s the essence of using buildship if superbase itself already offers that functionality. Please i need some clarity. Thanks :)
You're right, we can already do all that was shown in the video with database triggers in supabase
Great question, i personally had some issues when using triggers made in supabase when trigger actions are initiated from flutter flow app actions, the triggers made in supabase work well when trigger actions are made manually in supabase but when they are automatically from external source (such as flutter flow for this instance) those in-built supabase triggers seem not to work., and even the flutter flow action chain stops.
Using buildship seems to fix that error for me.
Though i am not sure why.
Can you please make tutorial on buildship and firebase? I found no such tutorial
video about SQLite in flutterflow pls
Can u make a detailed video on phone OTP Authentication and Verification Using firebase and flutterflow
hey james :) i would really like to know in which instances you would choose a buildship workflow over a flutterflow/supabase workflow since the numbers of buildship workflows are limited and very expensive
I would only use for workflows which can not be done directly in supabase with supabase function and triggers. Buildship can be very expensive and makes you dependent if the service shutes down all is down.
what is your diagram build app sir
Nice video, James. But I have one question. Why not using Buildship for the database instead of using other plataform? Thanks!
Buildship isn't a database and does not have that functionality.
Hi James Im building an app on flutter flow and have been recommended to use firebase over sup abase. What do you recommend? Would love your opinion.
I would stay away from firebase like it was the plague. Sure, it's full featured, but can get very expensive very quickly. Also, do yourself a favour and do a google search about firebase bill shock. Google sneakily removed the ability to limit usage on paid plans, so if god forbid your app gets attacked or you mistakenly have errors in your app that case lots of usage, you'll be on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars in fees. Ultimately it's up to you, but supabase is the only option I'd go with.
so you can uae n8n instead of buildship for free?
I have a "wish list"..
And in firestore rules:
create, read, write, delete
evrything is "Tagged users"
ok when tagged user add item in "wish list"
it is also visible to other users
howw??😢
please 🙏 off question but still on flutterflow
My goal is, since am not doing any authentication, I just want an instant whereby, why user lunch the app for the first time the seen the onboarding page, and on second open the won't be presented with the onboarding page anymore but the homepage that just the goal, please I need your help on this 🙏
Still new to this system 😭
Thanks for replying
Hi, I only have one question. Why Supabase over Firebase? When using Flutterflow it seems logical to use Firebase since it is also Google
Umm, I am confused why we need buildship? Like couldnt this be done using supabase only? Using triggers and functions within supabase?
Yes i see the same, i have triggers in supabase, also complex functions callled from customactions so i don“t need API calls. I don‘t see why i should use buildship and pay. It is ok if you need workflow outside the databese like sending emails…
Yes it could
Or can just in the app also put the data on the logs table…
But I guess as a prof of concept is interesting
Bubble make same without using external database
Create a POS with inventory management App
Huge fan of all of your work! Just one thing, you seem to be using the old Supabase logo instead of the current one for your thumbnails.
They have a new one? I will check, thanks!
@@jamesnocode Thanks! Supabase renewed the logo a few years ago. The new one looks very similar, but it's a bit thicker.
I’m still not convinced by this buildship hype… automation of api calls basically
Learn coding, it's not that hard. otherwise you pay for it in the future, hiring an engineer for every small thing...
Coding is 20th century. Everything should be no-code already.
I don't know, I can see going either way.
If you fully leverage large language model powered resources, you should be able to build a useful and safe product.
Then build a cash flow with it.
Then hire an extremely experienced software engineer to refine the product.
