Cancun was always my favorite spot that was 8 years ago though... 8 years? Man I gotta get back out there it’s been way to long love the show keep it up josh
Cilantro SF taqueria and el faro are good. That enchilada sauce in the carne asada burrito at el faro has been a sucess since they made the first mission burrito in SF. The guac in the carne asada burrito at cilantro is unreal.
I'm more of a fan of SoCal burritos. I find that most NorCal burritos don't have a lot of flavor and there's also a lot of gristle and fat if I order meat. I know some people dig that, but it's a texture deal for me. My current favorite burritos are from Sanchos in Redwood City. In a pinch, I also like Caramba on 2nd in SOMA.
I’m missing SF Burritos like crazy, so many solid choices where even average is a laughably rich treasure. I’ve eaten so many Gordo’s burritos from all 3 locations that I swear I’ve got beans in my blood. One “ingredient” you didn’t include was location. The fact that Gordo’s was walking distance from my house, or Street Taco literally around the block from my dauggter’s School scores them many extra points in my book compared to destination food like the Mission. If I have to “go” somewhere to eat, it is already behind on points compared to having the food where I am. It has been many years since I was at Pancho Villa. Very sorry to hear it sounds like they’ve fallen down. Missing SF where a buttito left on the ground is better than one bought in Utah for $20. Thanks for bringing me home for a few minutes.
Yea I grew up on 25th and Bryant almost 70% of it is a bunch of start up tree huggin hippies, casa Lucas la victim and the pan dulce stand on Folsom is still around
Castellito is definitely my favorite on that list. I'd love for you to do a taco list. So far el norteño taco truck across from the courthouse has been the most impressive to me, along with the al pastor tacos from the tonayense truck by best buy. TACOS!!! Love you guys!
Tonayense is awesome! We're starting on sandwiches today(either Bite Me or Yellow Submarine), but taco trucks would definitely be a worthwhile endeavor!
CHINGA TU MADRE!!! 😡 Everything was FINE here like 15-20 years ago, but right now everything has just gone straight to SHIT... 👎 Back then in the mid-to-late 2000s, I used to really LOVE this place cuz I would always be able to get at least 4 HUGE burritos for like under 20 bucks here. They would also give you like PLENTY of tortilla chips (several bagfuls) with FREE complimentary salsa to go with your order. After I ate one of their 'Super Burritos' for dinner, I would be SO STUFFED that I wouldn't feel hungry even in the next morning. Good food and good shits! I can still fondly remember, how the former owners/cashiers who pleasantly took your order and all the friendly Mexican cooks who used to work behind the counter were always very nice happy people to talk with, and they were always so full of character. Times have really changed tho, and people have started to become GREEDY. The price of their food is now like at least 4 or 5 times the amount that they USED to charge and the portions are constantly getting smaller, and smaller, and smaller every year... Absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! Also, I've been hearing from others recently that their complimentary tortilla chips are even GONE now; so that means yet another negative star for them! The quality of the food and the service has also gone WAY DOWNHILL over the years. Runny/soggy nachos, and TINY-ASS burritos with hardly ANYTHING inside of them... Overpriced AND overrated! Recently, I got one of their Super Burritos and all I could find was just beans, tomatoes, copious amounts of sour cream, and some kinda weird mystery filler inside. That runny, watery, sloppy piece of SHIT cost me like 17 bucks + tax. There was hardly ANY meat or even any rice in it at all. Whatever tiny, microscopic bits of 'steak meat' that I could barely find inside, were all extremely dry and stale-tasting. Tasted like half-cooked RAT MEAT (with hints of COCKROACH DROPPINGS) more than anything else! The whole damn burrito was just literally disgusting and unsatisfying to say the least. Seriously, I wouldn't even feed this kinda slop to my dog! Want a nice, cold Mexican beer or juice? Then expect to pay some BAR PRICES for them. Wanna enjoy dinner here with your family or friends? Expect the tab to run up pretty high real damn quick. And be sure to bring LOTSA cash! I was the only one in line that night, and it took 'em like over 40+ minutes just to prepare my order. All they were busy with, was just talking and looking at their phones and not really doing anything at all... Simply INCREDIBLE!!! So, what more can I possibly about this DUMP??? Quit supporting these scammers, and just take your goddamn money ELSEWHERE. 🤮🤮🤮
Cancun has the same guy behind the grill since it was La Parilla Suiza in the 80s...the green sauce makes it...best veggie in town and the Asada rocks too...
I almost agree with your list. I think El Farolito is number 1. Try the grilled chicken Super Burrito Extra cilantro and onions. What about Don Chewy’s Super Burrito, Excelsior, and Naples. They have been In business 30 + years, for a reason.
Thanks for the feedback! I tried to have a control group by ordering the same thing at every spot. When I have the choice though, I'll always go straight to El Castillito and get Al Pastor..
Another dimension that comes to mind is that S.F. burritos are like other American, yes American, crafts in that they don't make them like they used to. I think I can say that, since I grew up on Mission burritos in the 80s and 90s.

Should have tried El Faro on 20th & Folsom street. Their Super burritos are huge, and they put lots of meat and guacamole on their super burritos!!!!!!!!! $9.95 in 2015 and they were the original mission style since 1961. Been making them the same way since the original owners 👍

For carne asada, I think Taqueria Cancun wins. La Taqueria's carne asada also tasted pretty good, however there was a big chunk of fat and gristle in my burrito. I hardly ever order chicken, so I can't weigh in on that one.
Saludos de cdmx todo bien pero algo que no hacen son lineamientos donde está la gorra de los empleados están en una cocina creo que no tienen una estrella Michelín
The worst burrito place I went to was La Tortilla in castro district... and the best El farolito, el castillito and la taqueria Edit: I went to "El Zorro" taqueria and they add french fries to the burritos, I was not bad just different
El Castillito uses really low quality ingredients, almost everything from a can. Taqueria Cancun was really good about 25 years ago, now way too inconsistent. La Taqueria is overrated and overpriced. Good rule of thumb is any place that puts lettuce on a burrito stay away from. El Metate on Bryant Street has pretty good food, but not great burritos(too small) The prices they charge at these places they should put way more meat on the burritos, too much rice/beans ruins it
I used to like Castillito's vegetarian burritos, back when they were like $2.50. The grilled tortilla was good, fillings kind of plain but generous with the avocado. I was always a Pancho Villa/El Toro loyalist but La Cumbre was virtually identical, El Farolito was good late at night and I lived on that block. There was a place in the building with the mini mall in the back, around 22nd maybe, I don't remember what it was called because my roommates and I always called it "enough beef to block a colon", just total excess on the carne asada front. Too bad about Pancho Villa, I went to El Toro a few years ago and I thought it was great but maybe because I'd been in New York eating Chipotle for 15 years.

La taqueria Los coyotes no I liked it BECAUSE they didn't give The fish stock with fish head and tail you know that the cabesa and the fish tail has no meat do not eat there
@@TheSpotMarkers I don't know. Tex mex is more cheese/queso but everything else is about the same oh and less seafood. I grew up half my life in San Antonio and OKC, use to live in Seattle and visit SF very often as a good friend lives right by Panhandle Park. I live in OKC now and my go to is the build your burrito at Big Truck Taco (local spot that also has a food truck) bigtrucktacos.com/ OKC has Taqueria's everywhere and taco trucks everywhere
NorCal taco shop food is meh at best. Putting rice in anything but a veggie burrito is a horrible idea. May as well go to Chipotle. And the burritos without rice are skimpy. And why the hell are you listing the weight in grams? Do you know what country you are reviewing in? You should have listed that $13 burrito in Euros while you were at it! If you ever want some good taco shop burritos, come down to San Diego.

Yep. One of my favorites to go and get a burrito is at taqueria Eduardo
I used to love all these places when I lived there!
I just found the BEST burrito in SF recently. It's called Taqueria San Francisco on 24th street! You should try it.
I've never had a bad burrito in SF Mission District but the best burritos and quesadillas I've ever had are from EL FAROLITO
Integrity of burrito butt is crucial.
Absolutely!
Sounds like a good nickname 😂
Been going to la taqueria since i was a lil vato , 40 years plus now.
Wow. Surprised and disappointed to hear about Pancho Villa. Years ago it was one of the best along with El Farolito.
Now for a REALLY good burritos, take a little drive to Newark and try the taqueria los gallos. Now THAT'S good food!!!

Agreed 👍
2 dollars off a super burrito at Pancho Villa with Yelp check in .. I had like 40 check ins lol
Why were you using grams instead of ounces?
Getting homesick!
I never liked the Carne Asada at Gordo's,but its the only place i like the Carnitas.
It's interesting how much the meats vary from spot to spot!
I seen the same workers that work at falorlito I know them

Tex mex blows west coast mex away all day everyday and yeah we have burritos toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Is there a spot in SF that has those style? I'm definitely down to try!
@@TheSpotMarkers Sadly, I think your best bet for tex mex in SF is Chevy's but in all honesty for a chain they aren't that bad.
FUCK NO. You're trippin.
@@zebrajenks Chevy's??? An attempt at humor? 🤣
Wrong my friend a lot of food trucks have better burritos. Except for the taqueria!!!
Food truck burritos suck
La taqueria overrated
Right?! I've never understood why
Romaro and Sons Chili Verda Supper Burrito in Alameda. Check it out.
YOU SHOULD TRY MY UNCLE’s TAQUERIA And It’s located at
