My father had met Ross and said that Ross had the better voice. Hard to disagree, but EC’s voice is well suited to his songs. I’m currently listening to the audiobook of EC’s memoir, read by the man himself, which I’d recommend.

This is the Claude Francois version, he's just knocking it off. Cloclo called it "Si j'avais un marteau" and changed the lyrics so that they'd work in French, Mr McManus used Cloclo's arrangement but sang the English lyrics. Sounds pretty good in both languages.
