As a brazilian, I feel really glad to see someone having more contact with the brazilian literature, even if it doesn't talk to you that much all the time😅 I still don't know the work of Clarice Lispector but of course she's on my list!!

It's been a pleasure to explore Brazilian literature! I'm glad I was able to appreciate 'Hour of the Star' and her short stories. Speaking of Brazilian literature, so far I'm absolutely loving 'Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas,' by Machado de Assis, it is so darkly humurous and is one of the most engaging things I have read! I look forward to talking about that one. Thanks for watching!

@@mikereadstheworld this is one of the books that intend to get next! I've read Dom Casmurro from this same author some weeks ago and I just find it brilliant! I'm anxious to listen your thoughts about Posthumous Memoirs!!

A comprehensive account of the novel! Finished this myself recently! However read the English translation unlike you. I am sure that I would have had a different experience if I had known Portuguese. Great work, Mike!

I am not into poetry, but there is a brazilian author Adelia Prado that I really like. She writes poetry about everyday life and explores the simplicity of rural life that I find really refreshing

Thanks for the recommendation! I will look into her. I never used to like poetry, but am starting to appreciate it more now and plan to do more readings of it on the channel in the future.

Her style is called stream of consciousness writing, she's from the same school as Virginia Woolf and Marcel Proust. Glad you liked her! She's one of my favorites

I have grown to appreciate stream of consciousness much more than I used to. I am sure I will read more of Clarice someday.
