    You did good on this idea. I started the same way. The key to taping drywall is applying the compound to the tape this way there are no blisters in your finish project. The TapeBuddy would still be worth ordering and having with your drywall tools.

      Thanks. Taping this way worked great. Are you the owner of the tape buddy? If so, what is the best way to order the TapeBuddy? Amazon?

    I like seeing creativity but here’s a little tip for you from a 35 year drywall pro. The +3 is an all purpose mud and it can be used for taping but the green label all purpose has more adhesive in it and is much more suited for taping. It’s a little harder sanding because of the glue so not great for top coating and that’s where the +3 shines.
    this video just popped up in my feed so thought I’d share that with you. Hope it helps.

      Thanks for the info. Will defiantly look into the mud when I’m at Homedepot. I’m not a drywall pro. Most of my drywall repairs are small or just one room like a bathroom. Thanks for the tips. I see you have a channel. planning to check out some of your videos. Thanks for watching. This drywall taping tool is only for DIYers not intended for Pros. Haha

      @@handylandlord hey I like the creativity of it. I make a lot of my own tools and things around the shop so I get it. That looks like an imitation of the mud buddy I think it’s called. Yeah definitely go with the green label for taping and the +3 for easy sanding and easy spreading and you will like it. Good luck on your channel!

    good job, just make sure you put mud on the right side of the tape. flip the roll around so the mud get on the back side of the crease. if not those seams are gonna need to be wider

      @@handylandlord even doing 1 or 2, pays for itself. Easier to get the job done and relatively more cleaner.

  • @alonsomunoz7584
    @alonsomunoz7584 3 года назад +1

    The mud is spreading on the opposite side of the tape, just flip it over. Your homemade "banjo" is applying compound on the front side of the tape. Paper tape has its specific folding side. Otherwise, your joints will need to be floated out unnecessarily. With the time it took you to assemble this little invention of yours, I would have completed the entire job without smearing my fingers so badly. Clever, but you're not fooling me.

      Dont let this put you off your new tool i got hell from the "old pros" for my similar setup only to have them eat their negative comments at the end of the day when i had left them in the dust and had cleaner lines and less waste and was asked if i could make them one.
