My hope is if Sam continues to play well throughout the year, regardless of the record, the Vikings willink him in to a two-year contract, but I also understand if he wants to go someplace else, I’m sure he has to know that he may not have the support in another place that he has in Minnesota, even if he has to compete every year with JJ McCarthy.

The run game has been huge this year. Kwesi really cooked this offseason picking up Jones, cashman, greenard, van ginkel, and turner. Also his 2 adds at DB have been huge. I think Jones has been an excellent influence on Chandler and you can see his vision continuing to improve

I understand that there's a lot of season left but we were going toe to toe or beating playoff caliber teams with Nick Mullens (our back up last year). All we needed was a QB that was a little better than Nick Mullens and we were gonna win games.

"Jump on opportunities" man the Vikings made a lot of mistakes and Fred Warner had to be an absolute world beater just to keep the 49ers within reach this game. They left 10-14 points on the board, not to mention the terrible miscommunication on their first drive. This game would have been an absolute blowout if not for the BEST middle linebacker in the league.

If anything, if Darnold continues to play at a more than competent level, then Purdy may not get the contract everyone expects him to get. Darnold won’t be in Minnesota next season as McCarthy is their starter, so if he’s available as a free agent, I can see the 49ers simply going with whichever QB agrees to the more team friendly contract.
