Konnichiwa lads. Fun Fect time (no spoilers) Sasha WAS MEANT TO BE KILLED (by the creator) IN THAT SCENE where the titan was SQEEZING her. Due to POPULAR DEMANDS the MANGAKA (author/creator of Japanese comics) had to RESTART THE WHOLE STORY, IN IT'S ENTIRETY from season 2 to PRESENT. Talk about the degree of DIFFICULTY he'd to go through. Now: "Mangaka" is the PERSON who MAKES the "Manga" which is WHERE anime stories come from. Now: a MANGA is the JAPANESE version of COMICS. Re: Ymir being mean to Sasha, there's some Japanese context that we can't hear too well as English speakers. Basically: Sasha grew up in the country and has a country accent, but she tries to hide it and always uses very polite speech, like you would use when addressing your boss at work. Ymir knows that she's trying not to sound "like a dumb hick" and is telling her that she doesn't need to talk like somebody else to be accepted, and she should just be herself. She does say it pretty bluntly, but that's the idea!
(Christa, the little blonde Scout, argues that even if Sasha is faking her accent, that's her choice and she should be allowed to make it)
(Also just for reference, the kid Sasha saved is a girl! Pretty androgynous haircut though 😅)

I also love the theory you made about the titan on Connie's house being one of his little siblings, a lot of people don't make many observations like you did with the eye colors and how their bodies would probably correlate into their titan form, it's an interesting theory!

I always tear up when her father tells her ''Sasha... yer all I hoped for''
The way she first fought for just her food and her family, and now fights to save other people too! She left the forest, learned and cared about others. She really became the daughter her dad is proud of. Don't forget the metaphor and meaning of the forest for further on!

Sasha's charging ahead with the arrow in her hand always gives me goosebumps. She looks really cool even without crazy move like Mikasa, or Levi's skill, or brilliant strategy like Erwin's or Armin's. The determination itself makes the scene beautiful even tho she's well aware how dangerous it is to come into direct contact with a titan without ODM gear. One of my favorite characters ever, but the girl always gets the scariest titan like that one that's crawling chasing her back in season 1 😭😭

The flashback about Sasha's accent is pretty interesting. On the one hand we have Ymir telling Sasha she doesn't need to speak so formally to hide the country accent she is ashamed off and on the other hand we have Christa saying she can choose her own words and she can speak however she wants.
Two opposing points where neither is necessarily wrong and both are supportive of Sasha.

The jaw-drop and the discussions about the Ymir name-drop is why I will always hate those who suggests to watch Ilse's Notebook only after season 2 because they think it's spoiling something. That's not spoilers you ****s, it's called foreshadowing or world-building!
It's part of the main story, technically the only "canon" ova because it's the only one written by Isayama himself, and in the source material it's the chapter in-between of what is episode 13 and 14 of the anime.

I'm 50/50 about it. I can certainly see how this is kinda purposely misleading, which I personally am not a big fan of in regards to story writing.
It's still a great OVA though, because it shows that titans don't act out of bloodlust, but rather compulsive behavior. And it also (spoiler ahead):
… answers one of those questions we have often about zombie franchises. The person is indeed still inside, and somewhat aware of their surroundings and actions.

The girl though just being in complete shock, her mom slowly getting eaten in front of her. Good example of how trauma affects people differently. A lot of times it’s a freeze response.

Its probably not been THAT long. The Titans were only just reported, so its likely been less then 24 hours. I don't think its a case of anyone in the village going out of thier way to be horrible to them, its just a case of they saw Titans and just ran and didn't think to check for anyone else. Its kind of not super suprising when you think about it, Sasha says its a new village, so people probably DON'T have that close bonds.
The mother dies pretty much as soon as Sasha and the kid leave the house i believe. Its not explicit, but the mother goes limp as they escape. I think the idea is that the mother has been quietly suffering, refusing to die because as long as that Titan is trying to eat her, her child is safe as its not trying to eat her. When Sasha grabs her child and gets her out the fight, the mother is able to stop fighting because she knows the child is gone.

Sasha's comment about "a new village" is more indicative of the fact that her home has changed so much in the 2 years since she enlisted in the military.
Just like Connie, she hasnt been home because she's been in Boot Camp, then in The Battle of Trost, then the 57th Expedition and then finally she was sent to the Scout HQ in Wall Rose.

*This isn't a spoiler since it's not important in relation to anything.*
I'm not sure if the little girl's mom could feel anything (hopefully not) even though she couldn't use her legs, but the minor detail is eventually (at some point) revealed that her mom wasn't screaming when you saw her on-screen because she screamed so much and so long that she ended up losing her voice and all her energy. By the time you first saw her on the ground getting eaten, she had lost her ability to survive.

Interesting fact...that titan was quite small for a titan hence it couldn't take a big chunk all at once and had to slowly gnaw on the woman.
As such you can expect it had been there eating that woman for quite some time. As to why she didn't scream. She provably lost her voice after screaming for hours and was just still doing her best to keep the titan occupied and away from her daughter
She probably gave up and died just as sasha took the kid and ran and that's why the titan followed...cos normally the titan would've kept eating until she died

yeah uh imma just copy paste this comment because this is not true and makes Sasha seem a less important char than she is:
This thing has been repeatedly posted everytime discussions about Sasha or this episode appears, but is just plain wrong and people just don't question it because it makes a kind of feel-good story.
*Here's an excerpt from an interview with Isayama's editor about this event:*
      > ...in the initial planning stages, the chapter was supposed to end with her apparent death. Isayama-san also seemed to be worrying about whether he should keep her alive, and I thought, “This looks good at first glance, but she shouldn’t die here. Isn’t there a more appropriate place for that?” As a result, by the time I looked at the returned storyboard, it had improved a lot, and I felt like I was going to cry while reading it. But I was too embarrassed to cry in front of Isayama-san, so I went to the bathroom to cry in secret. laughs
*The more accurate statement would be:* Isayama already wasn't sure if he wanted to kill-off Sasha, his editor wasn't sure if it's a good idea either. Isayama changed his previous draft (into one where Sasha lives), and the editor was impressed by the improvements from the previous version that he jokingly said he wants to cry, but secretly so Isayama won't see.
