On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. Игры

Could we get one of these two dogfights?
F16 v F86
F-104 v mig 25 (or 31)
GS please make an Indian Mig 29 video!!!!
Firstly: does this work for steam users?
Secondly: NGAD vs F-15 ACTIVE, dogfight, guns and missles plzkthx
SU-57 vs F-15 ACTIVE, dogfight, guns only plzkthx
Who piloted the Viper today?
Great flying by both.
Great Content, Thanks You GS
I really enjoy your explanations and demonstrations. Though I was wondering if you could throw on the ctrl-enter hotas overlay so I can get a better idea of how you are managing the turns.
I don’t know why, but somehow that predicted wing break was way more satisfying than a gun kill 😂
timestamp?
@@jameshughes6078 14:46
Marvelous wingtip.
Never interrupt your opponent when he's making a mistake. lol
I don’t fly the viper but… shouldn’t the limiter I’ve heard about prevent the wing separation?
This is really a masterclass example of teaching a lesson. Not only to your oponent, but to your audience as well. Great job!
first time i actually see the explanation of circles and tactices this well, well done
F-16 = Fulcrum Fodder. GS does this so casually, I bet he rests his arm on the canopy sill, like a convertible lowrider going slow on the boulevard.
Nope
Not with the shit radar that the MIG-29 has. It's getting blown out of the sky by an AMRAAM @@firebald2915
I love how he's so good, he can literally scare his opponent into destroying their own plane.
As an F-16 pilot, this is a great way of looking at it. Very informative, thanks GS
GS is INSANE! Your piloting skills are crazy I have so much respect. You know how to exploit every weakness and strength in your aircraft and the enemy’s.
I love to see that tac-view at the end of the video to really bring into emphasis exactly what we're looking at. Seeing the F-16 lose the rate fight is great too; it's a great reminder not to get complacent and assume technical specs will win the fight for you.
All the John Boyd "pure dog fighting plane" doesn't matter when the opponent is good.
Mig-29 aged extremely well compared to other soviet models, it can still go toe to toe with its NATO counterparts and remains a viable alternative for most post-soviet arsenals. It was really amazing seeing it during airshows in Germany as it flew next to western aircraft. Sad to see that there will be no further modernization of this fighter and NATO countries sending them off to Ukraine, at least they will finish their life in a blaze of glory in the skies and not scrapped in some dusty hangar.
@@jetfighter200 There is always a fireball, glory is assigned by the morals of the society to whom the fireball belongs
Aged extremely well? With such short legs and airframe life compared to western contemporary aircrafts?
You can upgrade avionics on an aircraft but it takes much more than that to be a potent one.
The Flanker family aged more gracefully, the Tu-95 and Tu-22M also aged very well
In all fairness, the MiG-29 doesn't go too far on a tank of gas compared to its Western counterparts and its engines are real maintenance hogs. Still a cool aircraft though.
Will be good to see them flight beside f16s... cannot wait
Saw the first TV MiG 29 many years ago at Farnborough, it's manouverability was insane!
This will be fun. I absolutely love a video on the MiG-29!! Good luck!!
Hey GS, since you are doing more of these tutorials, maybe you and some of your buddies show group tactics since some people might not know basic group strategies. Both with and without mixed aircraft squadrons and loadouts.
Highly agree!
Watching this makes me think flight instructors are going to use your videos to teach fighter pilots, so well explained! I never quite understoot the difference between one and two circles until now
It's a sure bet that actual real fighter pilots and instructors are learning new things from this channel. I've even heard russian air force is using DCS as extra sim pits
@@XiaOmegaX I mean DCS was developed by russians, soo
@@arnavsadhu it was??? Isn't Eagle Dynamics American?
It's such a pleasure to watch these vid's with your commentary. Really easy to follow and take pointers.
This was a really great video, instructive and illustrative of things I have had a vague concept of before but now is clear.
Setting up the shot in Round 3: "Do you have a moment to talk about your plane's extended warranty?"
never know that there is such a way to make two circle do into one circle, ty for sharing this skill to everyone 😊
Truly a master when you can talk through your steps as it’s happening in front of you. Reminds me of my Muay Thai coach a lot. Able to see things before they seem evident
In this offset 2 circle, that ups and downs I learned as high yo-yo manouver in the times of MCFS. You could do it going down and up again, low yo-yo, but not on the ground, of course. Nice one
Hey, I just paused the video to come here and say; respect. Your editing, the illustrations, narration etc. It is really amazing how you grew and dude you're nailing it. I love your content. Okay, back to the dogfight.
Edit: AND your skills. I keep being amazed by how easy you make this look :')
So, the secret here is going up and down, tightens your turn, but doesn't totally bleed your speed to a near stall even on the deck- that using a little bit of vertical and it's effect on your turn tightness and position- is something that's not been covered in depth before- that's interesting to see
Also that maneuver wing kill was CRAZY- GS with the maneuver kills, but those high g kills are ...weird lol
I'm getting into DCS because of you, keep It up man, you're the best DCS youtuber by far
Thank you brother much love.
Was literally wondering if mirroring the offset circle would counter it and keep it overlapping two circle, and then you promptly predicted and answered my question. Love the TacView. It really puts everything into perspective. Thanks man, keep it up!
Bullying those poor F-16s: Why are you splashing yourself? Why are you splashing yourself? ;)
This is the best class on tactics to counter vipers and possible counters from viper in dogfight, what makes it even better is that you are flying the awesome Mig-29 again! Thanks for the teaching and I really hope we can see more of those very straight forward and educational videos!
There's something relaxing about a Canadians voice when they're shooting a bandit. Great video.
Really liked the debrief at the end, thanks so much.
I was wondering when I was going to see you talk about this. This was something Phantom drivers would do when fighting against Mig-17's during Vietnam.
It's called misaligned turn circles ie matc(time in video -18.27). As you were defensive(los aft bandit behind 3/9 line) in the 2c fight with the viper your were trying to increase the aspect back to 180 degrees(ie high aspect) you can increase the aspect in various ways-lo and hi yoyo's being one option, you could also time an extension ie the reverse of a tcx(turn circle extension) or you could take the fight vertical using radial G and timing to force the fight back to 180 degrees as mentioned earlier. If flying with a savvy bandit however, he can utilise tcx's with lead turns or go for an energy excursion to take the shot preserving over the top airspeed and the subsequent overshoot-ie rolling scissor.

Thank you GS for all the wonderful videos and lessons!
Outstanding job GS. Discuss, Demonstrate and Review. Well done!
Me: Oh, a teaching video, I'm too tired to pay attention to this, will save it to watch it at another time...
*twenty one minutes later*
Me: wow! I've learned a lot!
Great video ! I like learning moves and tactics and just not beeing stuck into 1 circle, 2 circles, rate fight... I want more way to survive and/or win ^^
Again, simple but well explained, keep up the good work !
Didn't get a chance to finish the show last night, but I'm glad I came back for the TacView debrief. I really appreciate the training. Awesome vid as always. Thanks to GS once again. Keep the content coming.
By far one of the most interesting fights in a technical sense I've seen on here this is super cool seeing the offset work so fast.
Sidewinder Academy: DCS Top Gun
No wonder actual fighter pilots love watching GS. This is easy training.
The segment where the rear wing was damaged and you forced him to increase throttle and destroy himself through G-forces. Stunning work! Incredibly entertaining and amazing attention to detail in this game.
Best RUclips Tutorial I ever saw!
GS explains every concept very well.
Very satisfying, with a new school simulation + old school chalk-blackboard lesson.
👏
"Hey, Teacher, leave those Planes alone!"🎶
I recommend another explainer on countering the offset counter. Like you were saying, an offset circle can surprise someone unfamiliar but when you're relying on that tactic and someone counters it, it's probably equally as surprising for an intermediate sim pilot like myself.
Nice explainer on the concept, I'm familiar but still stuck around for the dogfights. That wing snap was stunning.
Awesome. This video basically answers my earlier comment about what to do once your in a losing rate fight on the deck. Cheers!
“Come back around here, I just wanna talk to you real quick bud.”
*Mutilates wing*
“Aye La-eyed!”
Ok. My dude.. the end to that 3rd round was hilarious. lol The fact that you had plenty of lead in your hud but never took the shot in anticipation of that wing disintegrating was great. Well played.
Very informative and helpful video. Thank you for taking the time to explain this in such an understandable way.
Well explained. Thanks for debriefing.
Nice to see Tacview return! I always thought it was super helpful to visualize what was happening in a 3D. Much appreciated. :) Great video and super, super helpful for handling the 2C against a better rate fighter. Thank you!
I remember long time ago when i played Strike Commander, i started also the up and down 2 circle thing + shooting when crossing. Was much more effective then trying to outturn oponent. Sure quite a primitve flight sim compared to this, and me completely unaware what doing, nevertheless happy I recognized the schema :D
Love to see you flying soviet planes!
6:03 love this aerodynamically assisted ballistic Dogfight’s.
Tacview is back and together with the offset 2 circle? What a nice treat of a video.
Loved last time you did a video on it and I was wondering why you haven't been using that tactic anymore. Again amazing content GS.
Yes, the offset two circle. That's how I get splashed in dogfight every time. I'm aware what it does, how to create, but not how to avoid or fix it. I can do nothing against when I try to rate, or make my reverse too soon when I go for one circle.
It's all about reading the cues, still that's the most difficult thing in dogfight, or maybe almost every sorts of fight in general lol.
I may gonna stick to the tacview for a while, this vid is the one I was waiting for quite a time. Thanks man.
my pleasure, glad you found it useful man.
Like watching a surgeon at work. Well done, GS!
This is Excellent. I always wondered what could be done if you ended up on the deck in a rate fight w/a f16. Offset 2 circle. Nice. I'm ashamed to admit I can't finish the whole vid now, but I'll be back. Just wanted to comment for the algorithm. Thanks for the analysis. I never thought I would find geometry fascinating. I can't wait to try this out. Just saving for hardware and I'ma be on the list. Thanks again for your fine instructions and demonstration GS. You're a beast.
This was a great video! I am impressed by how well this technique worked.
Wow this video was awesome, even more than usual. It's nice that you gave an insight on the offset two-circle. Also, I love how you made him rip off his own wing.
@2:52 throwing ropes!! Nice stick twitch to the 9 0clock
holy shit that off set two circle was absolutely clinical. Really brought me so much joy
Nothing but respect for you and the things you're able to do in every single plane
I’ve never played DCS but I enjoy watching you fly.
Thanks for the circle breakdown🎉
GS is like a Legendary racecar driver explaining how a race will go by knowing the performance of a car down to the tire pressure.
This is the most educational video on this channel so far. Great content!
This was one of the best videos I’ve seen you do, GS, and I think I’ve seen them all. Great work! Keep it up! Your videos are always a highlight of my day, but this one was special! ❤
Awesome video.
You make it look so easy.
Hello GS! Love your videos with tacview debriefs, they are my favourite ones. Thank you for your work!
Fantastic! A video on how the Viper can deal with this would be grand
Very instructive video, thank you!!
You have really inspired me to get into DCS, love your vids!
I've been watching these on my 130 inch projection screen. With my sound system rounding out the experience. These are so much fun to watch.
love it! that was so cool when you made him break his plane
Loved that explanation in the tacview!
Fantastic video. Love this stuff. We see you flame folks all the time but don't see the "okay, now we switch aircraft" and break it down. You used to swap back and forth in rounds and take turns. That was good too. I'm not saying do that all the time, just from time to time so we can see the counter tactics. Love it. Thanks.
8:59 - GS doesn't even need a targeting computer for difficult firing solutions anymore.
The rate you pump these videos out is crazy GS, But I have also been wondering if you could do a group of F22's against a much larger group of other planes?
Glad ya did the tac view. Miss those
remember, just because we see you doing things, doesnt mean we learn the things. thats why i really like this kind of video, where you talk about what youre doing to make the situation better.
personally as a pilot who often flubs my advantage, its great to get videos on how to fight into disadvantaged scenarios. one of my biggest issues is finding out what to do when plan a doesnt work out.
i personally think in gunfights; one circle fighters are generally very unforgiving, being that your win condition revolves around hitting a high aspect shot, and the fight gets worse and worse every second it drags on. do you agree with this idea? or is it much more even to you, who actually is good at dogfighting.
Excellent skills! Got the idea, i hope it works in WT sim as well.
That's some insane flying and very informative. I never knew the mig 29 even stood a chance against the viper.
In 1991, in Germany, they compared the instant 29 they got from the GDR with f16, at that time the instant was completely superior to f16 in all respects, even then the MiGs had a system on the pilot's helmet that allowed them to shoot while looking at the enemy.
Seeing an F-16 being defeated ina RATE fight is one of the most satisfying thing in life....
DAMN GS... That was a fuckin' clinic... Outstanding sir! Cheers!
This Is why you have over 450k+ subs bro. Great tactics explanation. keep up the great work.
Little bit of Disrespect in that third round with that flare dump lol!!!
Great video! Love to see the old Tacview back!!
Is anyone else driving around in normal traffic thinking about one and two circles? Wishing you had some fox whatever’s or an auto cannon? My daddy day care mini van hits different…
Great info. Great flying too!!
Early this time, pretty sure it's going to be great as always. Would absolutely love to see F-35 against SU-57, either dogfight or intercept. I know there are vids on that already but if it ain't GS it aint it, man
Love the content man keep it up, you explain the concepts of BFM so well! Would love to see some more stuff for the Mig21 if you ever get around to it!
This was one of the best 1v1s I have seen.
Great can't wait to see you do high G yoyoes and more offset 2 circles in the F-4
I think this is your best video yet. Thanks!
That was interesting, thank you!
Very clever move. Great fight by you GS again
"Come back here... I just wanna talk to you real quick." 😆😆😆
i knew gs is an amazing dog-fighter, but i could never imagine he can shoot down an enemy without even firing.. Insane :)
Well - in fact he did shoot that enemy, just some moments before it ended... And that maneuver-kill wouldnt have been possible without that ;)
Dude...your channel is just so great! This was a masterclass
Another Gripen vs SU-57 would be amazing! Keep it up!
I was thinking, "I wish he'd do a debrief on this one, have not seen that in a long time". And you did. And even mentioned it had been a long time.
I like this a lot, it's hard to understand why some tactics work and this was a good explanation.
GS, this is straight up scary man. Your knowledge, awareness and intelligence is fucking terrifying
we miss your tacview. thanks for showing it again. very nice for more educational theme.
That wing breaking was the funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile!
10 years later, Growling Sidewinder becomes an instructor and test pilot for the US Air Force😎😎
This was very acrobatic. The way these 2 aircrafts use different flying techniques to down each other is stellar.
