I was silently yelling this in my head when he couldn't remember which movie 🤣 I know because I specifically watched Spy because a friend told me about the cameo (and then it was a funny movie too, so totally worth it!)

Verka changed the lyrics on the live final to "Russia Goodbye". This is true, although the official lyrics only have Lasha Tumbai.
They got the Russia Goodbye Lasha Tumbai, which proves this wasn't that subtle.

I’m in the US and I remember watching this the year Verka won. This performance has lived in my head rent free ever since. Whenever someone asks me to explain Eurovision to them, I show them “Lasha Tumbai” and wait for the reactions.
Also, I’m fairly sure this is where Dua Lipa learnt to dance

Actually the song is a political divorce declaration. Verka actually does sing "Russia Goodbye" during the live performance. "Lasha Tumbai" is a deliberatelly constructet neologism to sound like "Russia Goodbye" when sung in an Ukrainian accent in order to elude Eurovision's "non-political" guidlines.

Actually Verka was very popular in Russia. And Russia always was a key market for her. She returned to Russia very soon with help of Philipp Kirkorov. They performed a song together.
Actually all famous Ukrainian entertainers still perform in Russia.
@@pt3085 No, they dont. Dont say that missinformation. Verka Serdushka does not perform in russia and never did. He got censored out of russian media often and did many times oppose russia's actions against georgia and other countries. Most ukrainian singers dont perform in russia and perform in other states like georgia, poland, belarus, lithuania, estonia and israel. Yes, ukrainian singers did perform in russia for some time, but after the 2000s came, it became unattractive and was less profitabel. After geogia's war broke out, mostly no ukrainian singer performed in russia (Maruv as an exception).

Serduchka has a duo with Philip Kirkorov after 2008. Performing in Russia for them is much more profitable than anywhere else.

Most of EU did get it and Russia too, since it sparked a diplomatic incident. They are dressed as German soldiers with a commie star on head. Saying "sieben, sieben" (could be sung lieben, lieben - and is clearly about Germany) "I liu liu" (I love you) , meaning "Germany, I love you". "Lasha Tumbai" - Russia goodbye. So they kind of want in EU (Germany is the engine of EU) and they want to say good by to Russia. Hence the Crimean war.
