This video clearly demonstrates how to properly perform a binocular balance test (BBT). The BBT has been shown to be the most accurate and reproducible method for measuring the manifest refraction. In practice, the BBT component takes less that 60 seconds once the basic manifest is complete, and those 60 seconds can save many hours and weeks of frustrations with incorrect spectacles or even worse, a refractive miss after refractive surgery (e.g., LASIK, SMILE). This could take over an hour. It is very easy to make a mistake.
I do not trust this.
I check my refraction at home, more accurately, with my own Trial Lens Set.
