    Thank you for posting this video. In the UK the concrete crossing slabs used on the railway crossings are made by a company called Bo-Mac. These have been used since the early 1970s. At each end of the ones in the 4ft, and either side of the 4ft there are end brackets that fasten both to the end panels and to the ties. This stops the panels creeping due to passing trains and stops gaps opening up between panels.

    The straight run with the manifest is so prototypical and convincing. And the pile of rock on the river bank, at 0:25 is so real. The best in N, from what Ive seen so far. Keep up the great work and keep posting. Thank you.

    Love what you have done with your layout. My 1st time seeing the video with the crossing installment in Franklin Grove. Your attention to detail amazes me. Following a train is just like taking a actual journey through northern Illinois. I live in northern Illinois and like to railfan on the Geneva Sub. Yours and the prototype.

    Midwest Modal RR is a great place. Awesome staff with tremendous knowledge of modal RR. I make a trip there ounce or twice a month. It's just off I-70 on Hwy 40 on the Independence/ Lees Summit Mo city lines. Great video Daryl !

      That whole room with Rochelle, Global 3, Franklin Grove and Mississippi River is pretty well complete. Wheaton is going to be a big challenge... lots of buildings.

    A nice feature at the farm scene is the amount of space you allowed..too often we tend to crunch everything into a scene foot print. The background road running along behind the farm really adds dimension..and your gravel going into it blends well.. really nice job with the subtle details.

    Nice work on Franklin Grove, I would suggest some fencing between the RR tracks & the farm grounds to keep the cow of the tracks & maybe a couple of horses in that scene . cracking layout & always try to watch your updates.

    The Pitzer Grain scene looks great, just go's to show that you can repurpose older builds without having to buy expensive kits, to make a great scene. The little details make such a difference, top notch.

    Looks great Daryl really impressed way that whole area came along I'm glad you showed a farm scene I'm trying to do a large farm scene myself and I'm trying to decide what I should put down for ground cover before I put the buildings. Tell them to stop showing so many commercials in the middle of your video, LOL thanks Gary

    I remember another model train shop located in an unremarkable nondescript white cinder block building in Independence during the 1980s and 90s located about three miles west of Midwest Modelers on US 40 hwy near Crysler Avenue, a bit east of the old Blue Ridge East theaters. Must have driven by hundreds of times and before I even knew it was in there. They had some unique custom stuff that you couldn't get anywhere else. They eventually disappeared like most of the old locally owned hobby shops around KC.

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  4 года назад +1

      There was a real good shop in KC when we lived there 1988-1997. There was also a smaller one in Independence. I just figured the small one shut down and the KC one moved out to Independence.

    • @oubrioko
      @oubrioko 4 года назад

      @@EvanstonSub That shop in Independence was kind of a hole in the wall location, but they had some interesting stuff. They took undecorated locos and rolling stock kits and custom painted, detailed, and sold them with railroad names for many smaller local and former local railroads. _Spotlight Railroad_ was just north of 75th Street on Troost Avenue in KC. They existed off and on for several decades well into the 1990s before disappearing. _PM Trains & Rocks_ was in Raytown, MO inside a residential home with a front fascia that was painted to look like a caboose. This gentleman had an impressive Lionel layout in his basement, but sold HO and N scale exclusively, while his wife sold tumbler polished rocks. They lasted until the mid-1990s. _Midwest Modelers_ are a relatively recent player according to their 'about page' on their website. *Go CHIEFS!*

    What is the length of a train with say two engines and thirty cars, this is my first Nscale layout and was wandering about siding length, as we in England dont have the room for large layouts

    • @EvanstonSub
      @EvanstonSub  4 года назад

      Depends on the make up of the train, but generally around 13 ft.
