Other ports need to take a page from Puerto Plata, lazy river free, pool free, surf simulator free, beach chairs and umbrellas FREE! The port is also spotless, with plenty of shopping and restaurant options. This is how you get people to want to come to that port. They made a big investment in that port and facilities, and it's returning big for them. Now, with RCI detouring more ships to this port because of the Haiti situation, people will start to demand this over the private "resort" know as Labadee.
Excellent video tour ❤This port stop looks amazing, it looks massive. We were supposed to stop at Puerto Plata on our MSC Seascape cruise last year but the weather was too bad and it was cancelled. At Christmas we stopped at La Romana which was a similar concept but on a tiny scale in comparison to Taino Bay. I look forward to stopping here in the future, you’ve sold it ❤
Appreciate you! So there are some carts that take people from the ship to the entrance of the port, but not directly to the lazy river so you will have a small walk!
Ohhh this is awesome! Going there in Feb 2025:) we were there in Nov 2022 but don’t recall the lazy river, can’t wait! How deep is the water along the lazy river? I’m assuming 3 feet or so?
There are lockers near one of the bathrooms close to the ocean if I remember correctly so bring a lock! If not or if they don’t work, Taino Bay is honestly and incredibly safe area and we felt comfortable leaving our items on our lounger.
Great video! Going to Taino Bay for the first time in two weeks. How deep is the sand getting to the Lazy River entrance? My wife has a travel wheelchair and I'm wondering if it will get through the sand. Does it have another entrance? She can walk and get in the tube just fine once we get to an access point. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the kindness, glad you liked it! In terms of the Lazy River, the sand is over concrete (or at least felt that way) so you should have some pretty steady ground. The steps may be a challenge though, but there is an assistant there who can help! At the time stamp 6:40 there is another way to enter the Lazy River. I think this entrance wasn’t as sandy and also wasn’t as busy either. The lounge area with all of the sand overall might be slightly difficult to maneuver around, I’m not sure if the port has special wheelchairs to accommodate this but worth asking.
I'm on the Regent Seven Seas, is this a cruise line that can participate here? And if its a mile from port, do cruise lines have the transportation to Taino Bay? Thanks. I will be there in November
Hey there! Regent unfortunately does not go to Taino Bay/Puerto Plata. Instead, Regent’s stop in Dominican Republic is Punta Cana. With Taino Bay, it’s typically walked to as it’s actually right at the port entrance. They do have small carts/trolleys to take passengers who need assistance. Enjoy the DR!
one more question. how long does it take to walk from the port where you get off the ship to the pool area? Headed that way this month!@@thelifeofacruiser
@@lynnetaylor3113 haha no worries! I’m a bit of a fast walker, but maybe 10 minutes? It’s not too far at all if you know where you’re heading too. Have fun, it’s absolutely gorgeous!! 🎉
If you’re asking specifically about Puerto Plata and not another city/port in DR, then Amber Cove is owned by Carnival. So Royal Caribbean will sail into Taino Bay. Hope this helps!
Looked like cocktails ranged from the $6-$12 range at one of the bars there! Obviously could change since I’ve been there last but I’ll definitely update on Taino Bay when I visit again.
Hey can you please clarify if it's exclusive to cruise ship guests or can someone visiting Santo Domingo drive up? It doesnt make sense that anyone can come in profit wise. Normally places that are free like that would be flooded with locals harassing the tourists with beads and bracelets, ect. Asking for food or money. When I visited a resort close to punta cana they had to hire police and put up a fence to keep the local hustlers back and they still stared from the fence line. It was crazy. Lastly, where is the Flowrider? Its a very popular attraction but I didnt hear you mention it in detail.
Hey there! Taino Bay is only accessible to cruise guests. Think of it akin to Costa Maya if you have visited, tucked away. Or even think of it similar to Labadee. Sure, you can leave the port, but it’s not the same as other ports that have fencing in other Caribbean/Central American ports. It feels very different, honestly a much safer feeling. It feels less like you’re in a city and more of a private area. The Flowrider is located on the beach side near the Huracan/Juracan Bar! I had to only mention it briefly because it was closed during the time I visited, so I do not have any current information such as pricing or times unfortunately. Hope this helps!
@@thelifeofacruiser It was helpful thank you. How do they know whether you are from the cruise ship or stopping by from outside? I imagine that people take taxis outside of the port and get dropped back in the port all the time. Did they check to see if you were from a specific ship or ask for ID because it all seemed really open like you just walked right in. Im not planning to visit on a cruise ship this time, that's why I'm asking. I was going to Uber there and try and talk to a manager about making an exception to use the Flowrider only. They'd probably hear my English and assume I was a tourist anyways haha
Unfortunately since it is not open to the general public/non-cruise guests you would be required to show a cruise card to enter the port, similar to other cruise ports 😕. Best of luck you never know! 🍀
Excellent - We love Taino Bay 🏝️
Definitely a beautiful place to go!

You get free Wi Fi only if you buy a Beer, disgusting.
Thank you for sharing your experience on the lazy river😊

Thanks for the love! Definitely a place to check out when you can! ❤️
Great job🎉
Thank you!
this is great! we are going in June, wondering what expensive tour to take. UM NO! lazy river it is! thank you so much for this!!!
Thank you for the appreciation! ✨ Honestly the best place to not have an excursion because it’s such a lovely little area. Have fun!! 🥳
Thanks for the tour! We will be there next year on the World America!
Love that for you!
Beautiful video
Thank you!
Great info, thanks for sharing! Do they have any transportation available to get from the dock to the lazy river?
Appreciate you! So there are some carts that take people from the ship to the entrance of the port, but not directly to the lazy river so you will have a small walk!
Awesome video!! How close are the lockers to the lazy river?
Thank you! They are located a bit further away from the lazy river, close to the surf simulator area.
Ohhh this is awesome! Going there in Feb 2025:) we were there in Nov 2022 but don’t recall the lazy river, can’t wait! How deep is the water along the lazy river? I’m assuming 3 feet or so?
I remember being able to stand comfortably or at least on my tiptoes, so I’d say around the 3-4ft mark!
are there lockers to put your stuff in?
There are lockers near one of the bathrooms close to the ocean if I remember correctly so bring a lock! If not or if they don’t work, Taino Bay is honestly and incredibly safe area and we felt comfortable leaving our items on our lounger.

Thanks for the reply. She will be able to navigate the stairs and I'll surely check for where the other entrance is.@@thelifeofacruiser
Do they have lockers to use
Yes they do!
@@thelifeofacruiser This is great. I've been wondering where we would keep our personals when in the lazy river or pool!
Do you know where the lockers are? And how do you pay for them?
Aweosme video
Are the restaurants pricey or reasonable? Thank you
Lots of food in the $10-20 range and drinks in similar ranges too.
Hi. Great review. Was there a cost for the day beds you showed near the lazy river? Thanks in advance
No cost at all! :) of course!
Is there lockers by the lazy River for your bag?
Yes there are!
Is it a short and safe walk to town for the umbrella street and pink street?
It’s about a mile from the port, where Taino Bay is located!
Can you go, even if you didn’t came in a cruise ship?
Unfortunately no it is only accessible to cruise passengers
@ thank you.

How long did it take to go down the lazy river? And did you have to duck to get under all those ropes stretched across?
Probably about 20 minutes, and yes there is a bit of maneuvering at some points including the ropes!

How do we know what port our ship will dock at? We are doing RC in July. Looks like there is another port in Puerto Plata, DR.
If you’re asking specifically about Puerto Plata and not another city/port in DR, then Amber Cove is owned by Carnival. So Royal Caribbean will sail into Taino Bay. Hope this helps!
Will be going here in 2025. Do they have lockers available?
They do! Some say to bring your own lock so I would just in case, but when I went it was still in development so it may be upgraded.
@@thelifeofacruiser Thank you.
Was the drink pricing reasonable at Taino Bay? More or less than on a Royal Carribean ship?
Looked like cocktails ranged from the $6-$12 range at one of the bars there! Obviously could change since I’ve been there last but I’ll definitely update on Taino Bay when I visit again.
Thank you.

Best month(s) to go there? November ok?
Sure! The weather of course can be a bit variable but it was quite warm and nice out!
