I'm glad to see this review because I have not heard many people talking about this book. I read it and went in knowing absolutely nothing. I agree that you need to read it all the way through to understand it. It is one I still think about and I could see how it would be interesting to reread it knowing how it ends. It's not like anything I've read before. I still don't know how to rate this one or even how to talk about it. It's odd but something about it did keep me engaged.
What you say is just about exactly what I feel a week or so later! I still can’t get my head around what I think. I’ve not heard many people talk about this one either. 😊📚
On one hand I really want to read this so that we can talk about it, on the other hand I’m not sure I’m going to love it so I want to bump it down the list. Great review though matey!!
This was the first book I read from the list, and it was unlike anything I'd read before. Still, the more I think about it, the more I like it. I agree that you need to finish it to get it.
"the narrator refuses to think deeply, or sometimes at all..."😂🤣😂 I don't think it is my kind of book but I enjoyed hearing you try to give us a review without giving anything away.🤗
I just watched a podcast with the author, and now the book makes a little more sense to me in terms of the cultural background and way of storytelling. However, I still didn't like it and I picked the twist very early on too.
That’s interesting. I’m wondering if the clues to the twist was obvious or if I just clicked as to what was happening because of one particular thing. I’m glad it wasn’t just me, but when I thought of it I was really hoping I would turn out to be wrong. 😂📚

Intriguing! You are so good at making me want to read books that I have no intention of reading and would never pick up.
Haha that’s my way. 😊📚

This review is far tamer than I was expecting well done 😂😂❤
Haha I try to be balanced, and also to not give too much away. 😊📚

Oh please read it, I need to know how salty it makes you! 😂😂😈

I definitely like it more than I did when I first finished it: it’s very unusual. That must have been an interesting start to reading the list! 😊📚

Thanks Deea! It was hard to script what I wanted to say without giving anything away. 😂📚
Hmm. This one might be bumped down on my list of Women's Prize TBR, at least for right now. Maybe later, I don't know.
Definitely worth a try to see what you think, but I can understand it not being top priority. 😊📚
I’m not sure that this is one for me 😅 thank you for your review!! 🩵
Fair enough. It’s a strange one for sure. 😊📚
Thank you for the review! You're doing well getting through the longlist!! This one is not my cup of tea...
Thanks BJ. I think it’s wise to avoid it if you think it’s not for you. 😊📚
I think I might give this one a miss. I actually haven’t really been tempted by many of the books on the list this year, sadly :(
There are still a few that haven’t appealed to me at all on the list. This one is very strange. 😊📚
