I have a perfect fix for this. I bought an Android. I wasted $1,100 on a 13 Pro Max that has a dead Face ID. At least with Android I can use face id, passcode, password, pattern or fingerprint. Good riddance Apple.

How to fix FACE ID NOT AVAILABLE Glitch ( i fixed it just now) (ios 17.0.1) 1. Go to Accesibility. Go to Face id and attention. Toggle of all the options and then turn it on again. 2. Now go to face id. Remove your old face id data (if setup) and try to register it again. If the Error message still appear. Do it again. If still nothing happens then do the GOLDEN STEP (3) 3. Hard reset your iphone (completely normal) by pressing volume up button and volume down button and then hold power button untill apple logo apprears. Then turn on your phone again and set up the face id (Try setup again and again). It will surely work for everyone. ❤️

If it was liquid damage or if water has entered through top speaker that can damage the face id. When you try taking picture using portrait mode from front camera the picture don't be in portrait.

Same here. I've a iPhone 13 Pro Max and my Face ID worked just fine on iOS 15 and when I updated, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work. I have no hardware issues.

Still something wrong… it doesn’t pick up my face if I even with the camera. I have to hold the phone significantly lower than my face to get it to work. That’s inconvenient and I need to fix it. Does anyone have any tips and/or the same issue?

Portrait mode it won’t work since it’s the lens is the one that works with depth.

Also messaged Apple support and they ran a diagnostic test saying that there were no signs of hardware failure.
