Garm's True Identity and His Connection The Mask Finally Revealed: ruclips.net/video/VutrPVSSFTE/видео.html

I honestly don’t blame Kratos for killing his family. It’s not as though he desired to kill them. He loved them. Ares tricked him into doing it by moving them to the temple in Athens (I think) without telling him. Sure he was blinded by rage and ambition, but he also had his arm twisted by Ares as his servant. I wouldn’t put it past Ares to order him to kill his family at some point if he stopped just before killing Lysandra and Calliope at the temple.

    • @DieEineMieze
      @DieEineMieze Год назад +4

But it's hypocritical. He killed so many wives and men, and even the children or they simply starved.
Only when it affected him, he cared.
It depends on the interpretation, some would say he was so blinded by his bloodlust and rage, that he didn't even recognize who he is killing right now.
And if that's the case, then yes, it was also his fault.

@@DieEineMieze that's how people of every generation are. Fact of the matter is being trained to kill and a soldier will do that to people.
It's not hypocritical it's actually a very human thing we've had for thousands of years since the days of empires. It's why they train soldiers even to this day to kill children in times of war.

@@Draco7876 You seem to throw some things together, like morale, ethics and psychology, which have to be discussed on their own.
If you mean "humane" with "human" (human in this context can mean everything, since we have good and bad in our nature) then it's the complete opposite of what you claim.
War itself is not humane (def.marked by compassion, sympathy, or consideration for humans, tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, especially for the suffering or distressed).
It means we have to potential to do it, but must people are against it.
And soldiers are not trained to kill children, they are trained to kill adults, but if they have to kill a child, they will rely on their training.
Besides, not a small part of soldiers would rather get shot themselves as to live with the trauma of killing a child.
And to the rest, it doesn't change a single thing of what I have written.
If you can't control your rage and emotions and hurt someone you love, because of it, it's your fault and nobody elses.

@@DieEineMieze Weren’t Greek heroes significantly different than modern day heroes? Life was different back then. It was more brutal and “grim” as Kratos puts it. You were sent to the mountains as a kid either to die to the wolves or come back stronger, there were ritualistic beatings. Times were different as much more brutal than they were now. We’re not meant to sympathize with this character, that’s very much established from the start. I actually have a pretty good head canon explanation as to why Kratos didn't save his family. Now mind you, this is all made up by me and not official, but I kinda like it.
As he stood before the loom of fate, he contemplated the idea of using it to also bring back his family, an idea quickly torn down by Gaia, as he asked if it was possible out loud to himself. Gaia said that he could bring back his wife and child to the present, but their souls, who now enjoys paradise in Elysium, would then also be pulled out from that realm, and souls that are brought back from the dead in any way will be forever denied an afterlife again. So in other words: he could bring them back and let them live and die of old age, but when they do, their souls would be lost, never to return to Elysium, or worse, be brought to Tartarus or some other realm of torment. "They're better off where they are, Kratos." Gaia said. Besides, Kratos has already waged war with the gods. Sparta is destroyed. He would've brought his family back into a world of doom and destruction.
I like this theory, because it is similar to what Sindri did with Brok in Ragnarok when he brought Brok back from the dead. His soul lost its direction, and was truly lost forever. Kratos would not wish that fate upon his family.

I honestly think that even if kratos wanted to go back he could since there is a time where his family is alive before they die. However, he chooses not to because killing his family is what sets him on his path to become who he is. Without that act he does not become who he is. I think killing his family is a fixed point in time. It is what always happens and what will happen every time. It cannot be changed.
Like Orkos said, three blood tasks were created to seal kratos's pact with Aries. Spill the blood of your enemies, the blood of the innocent and the blood of your very own. If kratos goes back in time and changes this then he pact is incomplete and he would never betray Aries. Instead he would continue his path of destruction and Aries would overthrow Zeus and the rest of the gods and becomes ruler of Olympus. Kratos would be by his side and his ever loyal servant along with his fellow soldiers. The world would be under Aries's rule just as he wanted. Killing his family is what begins the end of the rule of the gods and enables kratos to one day find redemption which leads to the events in GOW 2018 and GOW Ragnorak.

First off, I love Kratos as a character. There are a lot of nuances that give him a lot of depth. That said, I hate the "blind" argument. Because he factually wasn't blinded by anything. Nothing Ares did clouded his mind like Hera and Hercules. He made the conscious decision to enter that temple and consciously decided to kill everything that moved. Yes, Ares put his family in his path, and he didn't recognize who they were in the heat of the moment. But at the end of the day, he saw that his blades were about to kill a woman and a child. And he decided to go through with it.

Kratos’ family was mentioned multiple times throughout GoW 2. And we see his visions, they still haunt him. Gaia disguised as Kratos’ wife was the only thing that calmed him and motivated him to keep going after he heard Zeus destroyed his hometown: Sparta. It could be bad writing, but maybe Kratos understood that there was no way to go back to his family through the fates since his family’s threads were cut.
