This was the NBA Jam version of football! I remember when this game first came out you had to wait hours just for your turn to play. I still remember all the sounds and noises, they’re embedded into my core memories for life 😭
to be honest this is better than madden nfl I wish they make unrealistic sports games still I don’t know why people want sports games to be unrealistic like nba jam was super fun you got to do triple front flip dunks now wasn’t that awesome? You can’t do that in 2k like if you want realistic sports just play *real* sports lmao

This game taught me the rules of football. It took me years to learn the actual rules. Apparently you can't hit a receiver prior to the pass in the NFL.
Apparently, it's also illegal to body slam the receiver after they're already down... 😂
My friend used to get so mad at me for hitting him before the pass lol 😆

All the sound FX’s and the announcer are the most nostalgic noises ever. Like I can remember them so well. “HE REALLY NAILS HIM”
As a kid, this game is why I fell in love with the game of football AND how I became a fan of the Bucs. The jerseys and pirate theme just won me over. I would love to play this again!
This needs to be remade for today's consoles

This was the last game I ever rented from Blockbuster video. I never returned it cause about 7 months later it ended up shutting down. Still have this along with Bizzy Bones feature movie Jacked Up.

I wish Nintendo Switch Online subscription would bring this game back like they’ve done with so many other classics! The re-made Bluetooth N64 controller is exactly the same as the original, just wireless.

Got this game a couple of days ago (11/29/19) and it's so fun to play! I played through an entire season in one sitting and got a small blister on my thumb from playing it so much. I had to use the D-Pad on some plays. Lol

I remember playing this game 20 years ago lol... Me and my cousins would jam this. They would always get mad because I would always sack them pass their touch down line....they hated it even more because I was the non athletic kid who didn't play sports games....😂

I remember vividly it was a snow day so we all were sent home from school at lunch as a storm was coming, so me and my dawgs grabbed a fat sack of that chronic and we went back to my house and played some NFL blitz while being totally blitzed! Fun times.
This looks so much closer to the arcade than I remember. I recall it being a good port, but this looks and sounds about 90% accurate. Amazing what Midway pulled off with Blitz and Rush 2049 when the earlier ports like San Francisco Rush were clearly scaled down.
This got me into the sport in the first place. Simply amazing piece of art

I loved this game. Got it for my birthday, played until I had to run to the bus stop for school, played as soon as I got home. Odd memory of it though: my friend and I were playing on the same team. He was defense, I was running the ball. I had a wide open lane, I was 20 yards away from the end zone, when my friend and I WATCHED a player from the opposing team literally materialize in front of me, so close that I was instantly tackled.

I'm not a sports guy at all never enjoyed any football game except this as a kid, I just remember being blown back at how you don't just get caught, you get caught, body slammed and all kinds of crazy body breaking moves just for not delivering for your team, I loved catching ppl and then destroying them. This to this day is my fav football game of all time I'm never playing football unless it's a remake of blitz

I loved this game so much. I used to play my RA (resident assistant...the guy who was one year older than us as freshman and lived our floor and kept policed us...sort of) in college all the time. I lost track of how many games we played and I honestly don’t think he ever beat me. And he would always come so agonizingly close. He would get so pissed off. It was great. The guy was a douche, so that made it even better.
Wtf was that ending?! All that to basically give up on the final play? Kicking a field goal (3points) when you’re down 5 on the final play Lmao
