When i was a kid there was a bakery in our village who used to make all the things you do sadly closed 25 years ago my favourite was danish pastries with sultanas and icing on top
A number of different people have asked me for the recipe, so basely, I decided to add it to the mix pastry and update the video for new folk 😀 😉 laters
Hi Steve, Thank you for sharing your recipes and knowledge. My family and I really enjoy watching your videos and have been following you for some time. Although we quite enjoy the traditional Eccles Cakes, when we’ve purchased them from bakeries in the south of England, we’ve often received a version which is thicker and which we believe uses left over cake crumbs, fruit, and mixed spice as a filling, which we actually prefer. I’ve trolled the internet trying to find this recipe without any luck, although I did find the WC Rowe's Nelson squares recipe which was similar’ish. I’m sure this recipe is out there having purchased them in bakeries from Looe in Cornwall to Hornchurch in Essex, so was wondering if you by chance knew the secret and could post a video on your channel. Many thanks and fingers crossed. Richard, Helen and James Slater.
Thank you so much 💓 I have a Banbury recipe on here 😋 which is what you mean 😜 funny thing I don't remember where to find it, it maybe in the puff pastry playlist 😉 laters Steve ruclips.net/video/HtAcsGt0gmE/видео.htmlsi=5G9-X5GCxuKxAUpO

Yes, of course, to be honest I have used shortcrust pastry as well, ok some people would say that a Chorley cake, Eccles is always puff pastry laters Steve 😀

This is my 'go to' recipe for Eccles cakes. They are lovely and stay fresh for days. Family and work colleagues love them. Thank you.

@@johno5 the recipe is in the Description 😀
@@crazybaker1 I’ve seen the recipe I was trying to fine out the butter/ baker margarine and where you get it from?
@johno5 I see it's for the pastry. The best thing is white shorting and butter mixed together, or just use butter
@@crazybaker1 freeze the butter and grate it and add to flour. Job done!
Can you use already bought short puff pastry.

Mary Berry confessed to using shop bought pastry. Apparently, she doesn't make puff pastry anymore.
I'm 27, so you are old enough to be my dad!
Work that out 🤣🤣
