- I don't like really like my 1996 Nissan 300zx. Sometimes I can't flat-out stand this car. Yet, I've been unable and unwilling to part with my Nissan 300zx and I'm not sure why. The car has a 4 speed automatic--not the far more desirable 5 speed manual--and is also the naturally aspirated V6 with only 222 horsepower. These models sell at a fraction of their twin turbo counterparts and you can pick these up all day for the price of some paper towels and a pack of chewing gum. Yet....something about this car makes me want to keep it and strangely enough, continue driving it. Yes I hate automatics BUT, I would by lying if I said I don't look forward to driving this car about once a week. Maybe its the ease of handling stop and go traffic. Maybe its the comfortable headrest, extra storage space and ease of driving. But something about my 1996 Nissan 300zx I can't put my finger on makes me like this car and even...really like this car on occasion.
The irony of backhanded compliments for what is a legendary icon of the 90's. 😁

Very nice! I have the exact same car except in manual. Also has the spoiler that the dealer installed when new.

Nice car man. but the 2+2 came in twin turbo. Lots of them. Maybe not U.S delivered, but certainly in Japan. We have loads of them in Australia

You rarely see someone in this level of denial... You want a twin turbo manual (lieing spoiler and stickers on car and everything you say make that obvious). Stop saying you want an NA automatic and complaining about it... Its like you kicked a wall and wonder why your foot hurts... Nobody wants NA Automatic and price often reflects. More mechanical stuff? there are literally more parts so maybe your turbos will need replacing... I've owned two turbo Z's they are worth every penny and once you've had them apart once it makes it really easy to have them apart a dozen times if you wanted to. They are 30+ years old now and not every one was a garage princess so you are likely going to have to get all the softparts replaced either by yourself or by a shop when you first buy your Turbo version. Cam seals, gaskets, timing belt, its all due just anticipate that and do it all at once to save on labor time either by yourself or a shop. Turbo life is pretty miles and treatment dependant you could get a car and the turbos are fine or you could need to replace them. If you buy a 240k+ mile Turbo please don't come back here and complain that the turbos are due...

you will regret it later on because good standard original one's are the most sort after and always worth more in the long run. i married mine 22yrs ago lol. but she is a black on black JDM 1990 2+0 manual base model. A separation divorce has never entered my mind in that time.
In the same breadth of me poo poo-ing on this car, I simultaneously get an itch to get in, start her up and take its boring automatic for a quick spin. Appreciate the view and comment! 🙏🏻
