I'm a short guy who has been training 17 years and have just recently been brought on board as a coach. Nearly every person I've trained with has been taller than me. When they are a little taller, I can spar them in a regular way. When they get past a certain size though, many moves cease to work. Nonetheless here is a list of techniques that seem to work for me consistently on any body type... Low side kicks Teeps Fade away jabs Overhands Cut angles You must master head movement! Doubles and singles Duck under Body locks Chokes (Arm in chokes fail when the opponent gets too big) Leglocks (Not kneebars) Armbars (Not kimuras or americanas) There's more to it than this ofc, it's just what I've experienced repeatedly for many years. Maybe it'll help a frustrated shortie somewhere.
Dr. Conspiracy you think one day we can both spare,I know martial arts but I'm not great and I'm 5,3 and can still beat taller dudes but I've never gone up against the best and I wanna do it with you 😂 I'm sure it may not happen
I recently had a " a spar with a big dude who was fat, couldn't reach him without getting faded by a knock out, he was waiting on me to attack so I just evaded. Any straight on body shots would just tickled his big santa clause belly, taking him down could work but it could go south fast if he turned it around and got on top of me. Any tips?
Mike Zambidis is amazing at managing the in and out blitz. I am his height myself and use him as a reference. I often spar with really tall guys and depending on their style I use different methods to manage the fight. but the main thing at least for me is that I tend to be much faster and agile than taller guys, so I used that to my advantage.
I can tell you haven't been in a street fight . What if he intoxicated, or have a high pain intolerance. Not many people can pull off a one punch knock out
I am not a tall guy myself and this is a challenge I constantly work on and think about. I think it's important to know what your strenths are and how to effectively use them against different body types. My strength is my striking, kicks, and footwork, but against an opponent with longer reach, I have to be extra cautious how I use them. Distance control is essential as always, and as the smaller man, I find the only true advantage you have is that you are a smaller target. Sometimes bigger guys are also faster, so you can't count on that, but you can use angles and footwork to make yourself an even more elusive target. I find that cutting distance explosively and moving in for hard leg kicks works well since longer legs have more surface are to aim for, but you have to so with your hands up and utilize proper head movement. Taller opponents will always aim for your head, because it makes for the most available target. If you can frustrate you taller opponent, their attacks will become more reckless, which will open up one of my favorite areas to hit- the liver- with a punishing roundhouse kick or a vucious hook.
Good! In street fights best area to attack are legs with kicks, liver, groin, solar plexus, and upper cuts. Taking them down on ground not good idea if they are bigger and stronger then you
Good video! When you mentioned fabricio I remembered his fight against a very tall fighter whose name I don’t remember. Fabricio did well all the fight taken it to the ground where he is more confortable but in some point the other fighter went over him and started punching him with his longer range and it was all over.
Can you make a vid on how to loosen you hip muscles for a stiff beginner, how to stretch properly and how to get results fast. Moreover, how to preserve energy in the fight
you covered majority of games for mma, really good vid... we god boxing with head movement, karate with blitzing, muay thai with clinch... you just need good distance management to keep your opponent in game that you want, for exemple if you wanna blitz keep long distance and just commit after lot of feints, like in old days in shotokan :D
Josh Aung Hire Duane "Bang" Ludwid as your striking coach. :) Striking like TJ involves a lot of movement, switching stances, feints, and switching combos.
I have one month of training in sport bjj and would like to fight in MMA in the future. Is it better for me to continue until I'm a blue/purple/brown belt before transitioning to MMA? Or should I start training MMA as soon as possible whilst highly training Bjj for MMA? I want my bjj (along with my wrestling) to be at a high level when competing in MMA.Which method is better? Patient transition or immediate transition?
i've been training to fight in the peekaboo stance for a couple months, I haven't mastered it but I'm very comfortable fighting a bigger person with longer reach, that is boxing only
Only if you keen your head down and back bent too much (which I didn't do). If you have good posture (head high and back straight), you will not get caught in the guillotine.
...... yeah tbh....... I don't think short people can beat tall people at all. Because it's like you said taller people can be faster to so they have speed, strentgh, skill, reach, etc everything that makes them a fight god and unbeatable while short people don't really have nothing.

On the street, I would justt kick a taller guy in the balls. It does not matter how strong or big you are, this always works.
You're gay and no honor.
Anderson Zwei i’m 5’5 without shoes. everybody i ever fought was bigger than me. you just a bitch 💯🤦🏽♂️

Very good, Lajhner can teach people many things. The instructions are accurate and well presented. Keep up the good work!
Martial Arts Mecca Thank you.
I tend to enter range by going to the body by jabbing. By then ive shortened the range and hook and fight from there
When you gonna fight a girl but like 5 of them:
Good video thank you
Thank you.

That is the basis of fighting a taller opponent. There are other considerations like what to do with kicks, but this is the fundamental.
knockin people out is easy quit playin
Thank U so much

Thanks. Maybe in the future...
in the clinch u souldnt get your head under his armpit because then he can use the ghilotine

It depends on what you want to do and what opportunity presents itself.
