I love how Cassie is all “I got it” regarding the steps even though all DeeDee showed her was “turn, drop, kick” and yet still managed to mess up the order of that.
Yes, of course! This is definitely a parody of "A Chorus Line".. Dawn French is playing the character of Cassie, singing a parody of "The Music and the Mirror" (which is a FANTASTIC tour de force Broadway number, if you're interested in seeing the real thing!).
"Show me the steps, DooDoo!" "Still on for the pizza, DooDee?" "Sure..and it's DeeDee, Bee!" LOLOL I'd never seen this sketch before! Thanks for posting! :D
I saw a revival of A Chorus Line after I had seen this and giggled through whole damn production. Dawn and Jennifer could read a phone book and make it hysterical.
It isn't. I'm not sure what the audience found funny about it; bit lame. Only reference I can think of is that 'doo doo' is slang for 'poo' in North America. I like the rest of the sketch though. Much of it could have been actual dialogue in 'A Chorus Line.'
Wow, Dawn was so thin here. I don't recall ever seeing her so small. Was 'A Chorus Line' a hit in the UK? The film I mean. In the states it stunk up theatres. I really enjoyed it but it was considered trash by most.
serious 22: I’m Australian and saw it in London when I was travelling in the 70s. I was 21. I absolutely loved it and I think it was very popular in at the time in the UK. A few years later it was on in Sydney and I didn’t go to see it because everyone I knew who saw it, hated it. The movie was pretty awful - completely lacked that electricity that something like it needed.

I never noticed that before 🤦♂️🤣
My god these girls really are talented. Bloody brilliant. They have helped me get through 2020
I absolutely love this sketch. So funny and the song is so catchy.
Dawn French was thought of as huge at the time but look...now it looks normal.
Wow hadn't thought of it actually I never new she was ever this small.
That's certainly thin by today's standards.
you gave me the chance in my woolly jazz pants!
Susan Hill Huguenot
Brilliant, every musical we’ve ever seen!
fabulousssss!!!!! I cant find the best everrrr anymore..the sketch with the ponnies!!!! BUHUUUUUUUUU....

The freaking damn counterpoint at the beginning of that song kills me every time.
This is the first F&S sketch I ever saw back in the 90's. Still hilarious
Comedy aspect aside, Dawn was really brilliant here 👏👍🏅
"Show me the steps, DooDoo!"
"Still on for the pizza, DooDee?"
"Sure..and it's DeeDee, Bee!"
LOLOL I'd never seen this sketch before! Thanks for posting! :D
Go on cassy, dance! I love them so much 😂😂

Cassey: Just show me the goddamn steps!
Dede: Face back, legs apart...TURN, DROP, KICK.
I saw a revival of A Chorus Line after I had seen this and giggled through whole damn production. Dawn and Jennifer could read a phone book and make it hysterical.

I love Cassie Broadway!
Now this is funny!
...J's got the looks...all the time.
The play "Zoo animals on wheels" exceeded even this insane (and funny) parody
We were all thin back then
LOL!!! Just love them!
I keep forgetting that it's a parody, somehow.
The Actress playing the Stage Manager also Plays Flur On ABFAB
Even when I saw it premiere, I loved it - but also found it kinda funny - J&S show why I found it funny :)
Jennifer is so freaking attractive
dawn looks *uncannily* like kate bush here
They're such great singers ... that would be the perfect makeover for old, quite boring Chorus Line ... ;)
i'm pissing myself !
*I thought she was going to break out into "I Don't Owe You Anything" by The Smiths @ **2:00** ----- these two are utterly brilliant*
OMG!!! I love it! hahaha
Is this a parody of "A Chorus Line" ?
"let me dance for you" from "a chorus line"
Harriet Thorpe is amazing as Madame Morrible in Wicked :)

How long did Dawn stay rather slim? I thought at first it was faked.
She was like this when she was young for a substantial amount of time
@missgreeneyes56 So true! lol
which film are they parodying?
A Chorus Line
This just goes to remind us how good they USED to be.
This is the literal best, but I still don't get the last joke. Why is Deedee correcting her name funny?
