Yup, me too but was a bit reserved to say anything. Its easy for me to say, sitting in bed watching this and commenting but that first fish was undeniably scratched up to high b*ggery. Are you able to prevent this damage at all? (written as a fisherman myself).
Epic session bro💪 in south Africa we have been sliding live baits and bigger dead baits for many years now.. If we fishing from the rocks we use a much lighter sinker line so if you hooked up and you are snagged it breaks away and you are direct with the fish" also it's abit better to slide with mono instead of braid because if you get picked up you can get burnt off if the fish runs and your slide is far from the stopper ring" anyways can't wait to see you do abit of bait fishing hopefully soon 😎👌👍
Some South African friends put me onto this style about 15 years ago now. Used to use it for sharks on overheads and mono top shots. Yet to be burnt off using braid from the rocks like this yet.
Awesome looking water an calm. Also the fishing looks great. My bucket list is to catch a sambo from the rock's down south. Have done what you suggested with the sink and works a treat. Looking forward to seeing more of your fishing.
Hey Dixon bros. I’m getting into slide baiting this summer on the east coast ledges. Had few issues with bust offs in my rig. Q ; the piece above your stopper ring what does that do ?? Does it help protect hardware when you come up tight on a fish ?? Also where can I purchase? Many thx for the vids and info, love ya work bud 🤙
i don't know where he gets his slidebait sinkers from, but check out bustedfishing, they make some great sinkers designed specifically for slidebating.
@@bryce6267 Alternativley, you could probably make your own, you could just drill some holes through a snapper led and use some stainless wire around 2mm, as a cheaper alternative
@@bryce6267 Yea should probably make your own, would be way cheaper, only problem would be where to clip the ring onto but could just buy a clip for that
Love that sound off the drag nice
Epic fishing man!
Such an underrated channel... Keep it up mate💪😍🎣🎣🎣
Fair bit of damage to those fish getting dragged up the stones for a release! We'll done for a solo effort but nice to see more care to the fish👍

That is the way we fish on the east coast of South Africa!
Yeah very popular I’ve heard
What a day!!! Some awesome fights on them. Feel free to check out some of the horses we’ve been catching in Tassie on my channel 🍻

Hi Chris. Forgot to ask if there is a better time of the day to try for sambo's?
Depends on the spot I do find some spots are better in afternoon in shallower water normally and deeper stuff better in the morning but all depends.
Great vid brother
Your rod curved sharply
It’s better to hook the bait on the tail or dorsal fin for a single hook rig?
I find behind the head let’s the fish swim more freely and works best
@@DixonsFishing thanks !
Hey Dixon. I have just picked up the daiwa saltiga slide rod 1463XH and it is a beast of a rod. Have a look mate!
Wow very nice bro
I like it 😍❤
Where do you get your slide clip?
You're a glutton for punishment. Awesome stuff mate.

The bit above the ring protects your line yes so the slide sits over it not the mainline and knot.
I use the tackle international sliders
Less dragging handled the fish better
where abouts do you get ur grapnel sinker from?

Why don't you guys drop the lead?
What do you mean by that??
@@DixonsFishing set the lead on a rotten bottom so on the take the weaker line snaps and dumps the lead, always use them here in UK
