This is the first time ive seen anyone get back up in that area. I tried to get in about a week after the storm off of Cane Creek Rd to drop off some supplies. Had tonturn around because they were still doing rescues. I would have only been getting in the way at that point. Thanks for showing this

Tristan, Hi! Thank you so much for showing my old neighborhood. Could you please go all the way up Shumont Road to the end at Lydel's House where the path up Eagle Rock begins? We lived in the little pink house on the left, two before Lydel's until 2016 when Mommy died and I am so concerned about our neighbors up there. You only went a little way up in the last video before you turned around. There are a lot of houses up there and the top part of the road you didn't get to goes along a creek with a wonderful sliding rock for little kids to play on in summer. Please go up and give me a look at the road and the properties. And don't go up Eagle Rock without bear spray now. Many more bears than before when we left in '16. If you could take a weed whacker to clear the path to the right, past Whale Rock at the junction, that would be great. But careful = Its all PI along that patch of the path.

I grew up in Fairview back in the 60s just east of the new FD on 74. I tried to go to Gerton a couple weeks back but wasn't allowed. I know this area intimately and it blows me away how much destruction there is. I spent a lot of time fishing on the Rocky Broad, especially as you start up Highway 9. I know those backroads well, but there's a lot more houses now.
Thanks for documenting this and prayers for all of us...🙏🙏

It's heartbreaking to see the River down to bedrock, as so many others in our area have. I know you are a good bit below where we are in Avery County, and the devastation there is worse than here, and it's bad here, but I always want to see any difference, any hope that things are moving forward, even if it's slow. It's happening here but at a slow pace. It's going to take a long time to make it home again. And we will

Hey thanks for all your videos and updates on this area. We stayed near Rumbling Bald a few years back. by the way Sargent Cycle can get you a new or custom build seat for your GS. Thanks

I'm still shocked at how mush devastation all the rain from Hurricane Helene had on this area. I was there during the storm and had no idea of what was happening all around me.

I think a good portion of the country has no idea just how much destruction has happened.

WTG Bat Cave FD! I saw them on a video inside. They suggest cash donations be sent directly to them, however they receive them.

It's 150 miles west of where he lives, so I don't imagine you have to worry.
