Adam I’m an N54 owner as well I will say this. Get rid of the MHD tune and Motiv Boost box. The JB4 w/ backend flash setup for single turbo is a lot better & simpler and you can also have NLS through JB4. The fastest 1/2 mike N54 runs JB4. The JB4 also has more failsafes as well if something were to go wrong. Motiv is just stroking you out if they can’t figure it out you know they aren’t telling the truth.
I’m pretty sure Adam’s been running a G5 board jb4 for while. I remember him switching through maps in a video using only his gauges, as you would with jb4
Earlier in the video you mention the issue was mechanical, and even when you ran on open wastegate it still had boost inconsistency. Have you looked over the car for potential boost leaks? It sounds like it's a boost related issue, or something along that system. Maybe a hose/pipe/connection that has cracks that open up under high boost? Just throwing some things out there. Also, having swapped DME's and still having the issue, maybe look further into the harness for a potential wiring issue? Other than the issues, the car sounds sick and looks great!
Scope that solenoid and look at the control signal, if it's a smooth signal yet still all over the place it could be the pwm frequency going to it. Car should also be thoroughly investigated for boost leaks. After that I would begin ruling out other sensors utilizing pots or whatever is needed to mimic inputs. You will find the cause, but it takes some pretty thorough understanding of sensor signals and control signals. I've come across interesting things in my day lol. The very first mazdaspeed's I worked on I figured out that you had to clamp both the maf and the map in a proper correlation or the engine would pull massive timing and limit horsepower anyways. Same with a caliber srt-4. You will need to find the guy that really understands how the i/o of an engine works. It's pretty simple from there, but down in your region I have no clue who to point you to. It's unfortunately way over the head of most shops and you run into the situation you are in right now where people just keep throwing parts at it, with nobody being able to say this is bad for x reason. In fact the only guy I even know in Florida is Jason Heffner because his shop used to be in GB up by me. He is way more into exotics these days though, but likely has the guys to crack the problem considering how many brand new exotics they modify. In other terms, you basically need the guy who is an electrical engineer AND a mechanical engineer too so that there can be correlation between the two functions. In reality it's 2 totally seperate and mostly not interconnected fields, and that's why it's so hard to find people that can handle both sides of it.
Just to add to that. In regards to 'repairing' or 'correcting' a problem there is always a very definitive answer as to why something is bad. A good technician never "THINKS" there is a problem, he should prove it. If I tell you a solenoid is bad, it's because I've insulation tested it, resistance tested it, and mechanically inspected it. If I override a signal to it, it should show a sticking or a chattering depending upon the failure. If I told you an ecu was bad, it should be because of a verified signal problem at the ecu, like a loss of a control signal, clipped pwm signal, something along those lines. A gut instinct or prior experience approach should only ever be utilized in a cost saving aspect, and being told very clearly about it. "I've seen this issue before and it turned out to be xyz part, we can try that before diagnostics to save on the labor but there's no guarantee that's the problem"

Hey Adam, May seem dumb and you probably have checked already but have you checked the vacuum line from the inlet manifold to the dump valve? May even be a faulty dump valve? It's not uncommon for boost leaks to occur here. 👍

The turbo is odd bro go with pure turbos or garret. Usually boost fluctuation on these engines are due to a charge pipe boost leak, but you swapped it so I don’t know what else it could be. Somethings definitely up with this car, it’s not worth swapping out the gem of an engine that’s in this thing.
Adam mate great vids always cant wait to see new stuff. I think your turbo oscillates mate. that is what could be the problem. Might be a faulty turbo. Had a problem on a friends turbo drag once and it did the same. Changed the turbo and wastegate and that sorted the problem. Another thing is that it could be the factory ecu not liking the setup. Maybe look at an after market stand alone ecu. Maybe a Haltech or something in that range. I personally would turn down dial down most of your settings to very low power then start working my way through it all. One last thing that green car is a Lambo not a Ferrari. hehehe. O yeah almost forgot. Your camera on the last bunch of posts is a lot out off focus. Maybe the auto focus not working correctly. Keep up the good work. From Sunny South Africa

Please don’t 2j swap this Adam, the N54 stock motor is stronger than a 2j any day. Get a different turbo and turn it up. Someone recently broke the world record on the n54 platform, 1000hp on the stock bottom end that’s insane. Be patient with it. You won’t regret it.
