I know I'm a month late, but congratulations on a big win and qualifying for another World Floorball Championship:) That Viitakoski fellow on your line is a really good player and I've noticed in past WFC videos and this one that the two of you have pretty great chemistry. I'm excited to watch you both work your magic for Canada again if you end up making another "Representing Canada at the WFC" video for the Sweden tournament. Keep up the good work, Mr. Barber!
@@PavelBarberHaha, don’t sell yourself short! Been playing div 2 (4th tier) for a few years, and I’d bet you’re much better than me (you definitely have better hands)
in Sweden, everyone from first grade to ninth grade plays floorball a couple of times per school year. we actually call it indoor bandy. would be fun if you tried bandy as a player on ice the size of a soccer field
First time I'm seeing this type of hockey being played when it's not kids in a suburban neighborhood playing in front of their house on the street. I honestly don't mean any offense by that, just honestly never seen this. As it seems so close to hockey, but I don't see much protection, is this a non contract sport? Is there the equivalent of the neutral zone and offsides? Legitimately curious, seeing some good passing and shooting, although I can't get used to seeing goalies in what appear to be snowmobile pants instead of the regular pad setup. Wouldn't mind seeing this get more popular. Definitely not as cost prohibitive as ice...
There's contact, but not quite the same as hockey, probably closer to soccer in some regards. Shoulder on shoulder. There are no offsides, but the game is too fast to be a floater, it will probably cost you. Floorball is huge outside North America and ever growing. Particularly Scandinavian countries play floorball the way Canadians play ice hockey from early age

Never understood the judgemental stance to floorball. It's a wicked sport that tons of NHL players like the Sedin Twins, Forsberg, Zetteberg, Terravainen, etc all grew up playing. There's nothing cringe about it and it's actually incredibly helpful for speeding up decision making and overall positioning for transitioning to hockey.
@@PavelBarber yes indeed, floorball is a really dynamic game with much faster decision making and helps hockey players get really soft hands which many players lack, also it improves your cardio a lot. I would say it is one of the best training tools for hockey players out there and to those who think it is not physical like hockey, it actually is really physical, in the higher levels of floorball referees actually allow really phyisical play which makes for some awesome gameplay
Good shit, you've been going for a win in this since 2016 - work youve put in is now paying off

I’ve never seen this sport before. I’m sure there’s a good reason for it, but why does the goalie have a stick or any sort of gloves?
Goalies sometimes wear gloves, but some like to play without them. They don't have a stick, because they don't need it, in ice hockey it is different.
