I remember watching this show when I was 12 and loving it! I got to meet Judson Scott at a Star Trek convention when I was around 28. I told him about how I had loved it and he was so surprised that anyone had remembered it. :-)
I was born in 75, and also remember watching this on my little 13" b/w tv. I too find it odd that this short-lived show that I saw in first grade has stuck with me - hauntingly, if you will, all these years.
Really ! I feel that way about a lot of the shows I come across on you tube.....wanna watch another GOOD series ? "John Doe" I just finished episode 20 (the FINAL episode) S.O.B.s cancelled an excellent show there, check it out, I'm gonna try this one and see where it takes me....(gotta smoke a joint for the pilot episode.....oh OK that's just an excuse to smoke one...LOL)........Oh! I was born in 1956 guess I have a bigger library memory than you......Anyway JOHN DOE is an excellent watch
I must have been 10 or 11 when I watched this and I was instantly captivated. I eagerly sought the TV Guide for each next episode and then I was devastated and confused when the best show on TV was so abruptly cancelled. It's astonishing to me I can have watched something once forty years ago and then watching it again--of all the shows why remember this one?--and after all this time it seems somehow so... familiar. Thank you for excavating this.
I born in 72 and watch this tv series in the early 80's only once but i never forgot.. it's amazing that 30 some years I look on the internet not knowing the name or anything - i found it an that i can watch it again - only this time i can understand English back in the days only Spanish.. Thank you THATZ KOOL
Carlos, I have a very similar reaction. I was born in '75 and this show made a big impression on me as a kid. Every once in a while I've thought, "Does anybody else even remember it?" So glad to see it again!
I used to look forward to this every week, spring of '82 - I was 19 and may have had a crush on this man:) I can relate to all the others who say they remember it after so many yrs even though it was short-lived...
I was 13 when this show aired in 1981 although it didn't last long on tv i always remembered it i even tried to replicate the amulet he wore in ceramic's class but it was less than perfect in design but it was an A for that semester
Thank you for finding and sharing these. I remember watching these as a kid in grade school and then it disappeared from the TV one day...Now it makes sense why I love ancient alien theories, pan flute music and Pre-Columbian cultures!!! oh and blonde blue eyed guys 😄
This show has been in the back of my mind for decades. Never knew what it was called. Finally watched an old episode of star trek tng and recognized the actor. Quick imdb search and here I am, sweet. Watched this when I was probably 5.
I remember this show way back when. All we had at the time was a little 12 inch black and white TV. Thank you for posting these. Brings back good memories!!
Wow 40 years later and Im just as fascinated today as I was back then.Next up is "Man from Atlantis"..thanx 4 posting!..now gotta find the tracking control🤣
I remember watching this show I don't think it was the pilot but it was in the early 1980 s we had a big black and white tv it was a floor model channels 2_13 . it stuck with me also. I remember going around as a kid holding my hand out in front of me and pretending to hold my medallion as it would blow and I would pretend to hear the music play and my glowing hand would cause diffrent things to happen lol I was born in 1972 I loved this show along with a few more from then the greatest american hero, knight ridder, the a team, manimal, auto man,the misfits of science, miami vice, remington steele, simon and Simon, the six million dollar man the hulk, wonder woman just to name a few it brings back childhood memories the tv channels we had 2_13 were pbs, nbc, abc and cbs
Richie Rich Me too I was born 75 and this tv series stucked in my mind. There was a lot of potential to the series. I remember also The Great American Hero or Superhero tv series.
Thank you! Even though it is poor quality...I saw all the series episodes when they were first broadcast, but I wasn't able to see the TV Movie prequel to the series. The never reran it on TV, and I'd really given up ever seeing it.
crazy, i was only 5 or 6 when this came out and i never forgot about it. for some reason tho i always thought marc singer (the beastmaster & "V") was the main character...
The Phoenix screened in Australia around the same era as Project UFO, In Search Of with Leonard Nimoy, and Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious World. They all related to the UFO/Mysteries craze of that time, and it's fascinating to see how the cycle repeats itself with shows like The X Files, The Visitor, and even Ancient Aliens.
+Michael Glenn I don't think he was ever called Khan's son in the book, but it would make sense since he was younger then most of the other of Khan's crew. I don't think the book called him his son, he was exiled along with Khan way back when.
+Michael Glenn Not his son biologically, but in spirit. Judson Scott was also the first alien to hunt down Matthew Star in "The Powers of Matthew Star" and later guest starred in an early Babylon 5 episode.
I remember this show. It now reminds me of the fallen Angels mentioned in the book of Enoch. They came to teach mankind many things including the making of instruments of Death. The separation of fine stones, the fabrication of mirrors, the beautifying of eyelids for women, astronomy, and many other things.
If I remember correctly, I think I made a cardboard version of that medallion as a kid ... LOL... and to this day I've never forgotten his name was Benu
Wow I couldn't remember the name but somehow I found it. I was only about 6 or 7 when I first seen this on T.V. watching it again for the first time is special. No word of a lie but it was in my mind, and I was thinking about it so I started looking and BAM just like that I was guided to it. Well thank you very much for uploading on hear. It was like a blast from the past!!! CHEERS!!! 😇
I really love the series and Judson Scott, and I'm sad that the 4 episodes after the Fire Within were never produced :( . Does anyone know how to find the unaired scripts? I hope someday someone will remake the series and make it full version!
The amulet Benny wears also a company that builds substation transformers they also use a similar symbol with circle triangle they call it "Delta Star Inc." I discovered this in April 2023 in NYC
OMG! While I was watching this, I just pulled out a big peanut M&M that was TWO M&Ms that had formed TOGETHER! A Siamese TWIM&M! I have eaten hundreds of thousands of peanut M&Ms over many decades and, although I have seen many anomalies, I have never seen this. The lead actor in this "Phoenix" show reminds me of William Fichtner, by the way.
Hey I remember this show the plot was very unique I guess that's why this show also stuck in my memory after so many years cool stuff too bad it was a short lived series with a little more imagination it had the potential to at least go one season
1997 The Visitor was obviously influenced by The Phoenix similar themes albeit the former is more alien in nature. I'm not the only one who was haunted by this short lived series as a child and was confused when it suddenly disappeared. Obviously a couple of more decades didn't make any difference in people being able to hear the message of connectedness that the series relays because The Visitor only lasted 13 episodes. If you are a fan of The Phoenix and its themes I encourage you to check out the nineties series.
I remember the show being on television but don't remember the premise. When I discover Erich von Daniken's book, "Chariots of the Gods," in High School, this show came to mind. I had the biggest problem reconciling my Christian upbringing with what I saw with my eyes. This show helped me to understand alternative theories on human life on this earth.
I never forgot this show, even though I watched only that one time when it aired as a kid. I also remember Automan and Manimal. A couple of others were (I forget) the titles but it was about a young boy who was raised by wolves, captured, and civilized, but whenever he would get into a fight he would revert back into a wolf state. Another one was Bigfoot and Wolfboy (or Wildboy)? but I think it was only on, on Saturday mornings.
This was an amazing show. I can't remember--of course I didn't watch anything but sports after 1972--when I saw something so interesting and intelligent. I was hoping this would turn out to be something I saw in late 1981, that I'd been searching for: a fascinating sci-fi of some kind involving an alien ship abducting and then returning two people, which I only saw a fragment of. So far it doesn't look like it's the same thing[I'm not finished yet 8/27/22], but this Phoenix thing is a real find. They probably canceled it because it was too good. Judson Scott really creates a fascinating character.
OK, I finished it. This would make an excellent film, let alone TV show. It wasn't the alien abduction thing, so the search continues . . But this Phoenix thing is so good I could actually re-watch it. I guess the series would consist of Denu[?]'s search for meaning and stuff.
The Phoenix show was so for ahead of its time, perhaps why it was not successful, because we are so much into the techno crap, now you can correlate, to the power of mind, and Mother nature and its possibilities of today.
+EQgamer4life Thanx :-) I had the, copied, from, there :-) its only a season, &, Rhona Mitra :-* starring, is, the reason why, also, Robbie? Coltrane :-* (red hood) #Arrow

Thanks for commenting! I did recognize Judson Scott in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan". At one point this movie "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" was one of the highest ranking movies ever released on video.
Did you ever check out this site? It explains not only each episode, but the four episodes that did not air. There is also a link to the Phenox Bible that the writers were using as a guideline to write the episodes. I think you my like it! thephoenix.trimarisdiane.com/judson/phoenix.html
Puss Nboots I was only 10 when this aired and I don't know why it has always stuck in my head . I would think of this show from time to time and I was surprised to read that it only aired for one month. We had a colour TV when The Phoenix came on, and it stuck with me for all these years, too.
I loved this show......very odd, it has stuck with me also.
@@stevefugatt7075 i was 6 and still remember. I was like where did it goe when it go canceled.
@@anthonyh404 It did disappear fast didn't it? I really wished they would have kept the show going.

I remember bits and pieces of this show now almost 40 years ago.
I remember seeing this when it first aired. I also fondly remember the series and am so glad I have been able to see it again.
this show has always been in the back of my mind not sure how old I was at the time

My Favorite sci-fi of all time. And, of course, they canceled it. And, not going to say how, but it literally changed my life...for the better!

Ah, my first failed-pilot heartbreak. Also the first reason why I don't condone but do understand the Kathy Bates character in Misery.
thanks for posting, i caught this show once when i was 10....

Me too, and I always thought Chariots of Fire was the theme song.
The Guitar Whisperer lol, that's awesome!
Cuz he was awesome as well!
I misremembered Peter Weller as the main character
Yea me, my mom & dad used to watched this on television, good times!

It's v cool! It seems that the best episodes of a series r sometimes the pilot episodes
Seeing Judson Scott on an episode of X-Files had me looking up this program.
If I remember correctly, I think I made a cardboard version of that medallion as a kid ... LOL... and to this day I've never forgotten his name was Benu

***** as I rewatched it decades later I realized it may have had low rating at the time, but the production values were very good for the time period.
I remember watching this when it aired. It needs a reboot.
I thought this show was a figment of my imagination 😂 I was born in 76
this is another show that didn't take off. Its a shame not bad. It may make if it was released today
I remember the show being on television but don't remember the premise. When I discover Erich von Daniken's book, "Chariots of the Gods," in High School, this show came to mind. i love the phoenix tv show i love sci-fi show
Judson Scott sort of reminds me of Peter Weller.
They are long lost brothers.

+Yada Yah "Lucan" the name of the boy raised by wolves. I liked watching that series too : )
Anyone remember The man from Atlantis with Patrick Douglass? He next played on Dallas.
Patrick Duffy
i remember this, manimal, street hawk, voyagers, tales of the gold monkey , the master, i kinda wanna watch them all again

wow - amazing
He fought (Phinneas Bogg) John Erik Hexum in a gladiator arena in an episode of Voyagers.
They should change a few things if they decide to do a remake, if only we could raise its popularity.
I remember laughing at golden soy boy when I saw him. Thanks for the memories.
This show was too high-concept for its time.
Wow! I haven't seen this since the early 80's. Do you have any more episodes?
I always thought Judson and Richard Hill from deathstalker where alike
46:15 Somehow, I don't think he'd fit in any better in 2081.
The Phoenix show was so for ahead of its time, perhaps why it was not successful, because we are so much into the techno crap, now you can correlate, to the power of mind, and Mother nature and its possibilities of today.
and you rock!
Judson Scott played Khan's son in Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan!
He wasn't his son, he was his second in command.
Given that he played Joachim in Star Trek II, it's a bit ironic that Judson Scott looks like a blonde Benedict Cumberbatch.
This would make a great remake movie!
+William Grigg Did you notice that Khan was called the "Superior Intellect." Noel the girl in this pilot called Bennu that also.
He kind of reminds me of a young Peter Weller when he made Buckaroo Banzai.
Coincidentally, not ironic
I like this movie Bennu is a good guy
Another series I liked was Starman series (take from the movie).
Should be an icon for Ecology
THATZ KOOL...THANK U 4 UPLOAD....LUV....CAN U DO...AMERICAN GOTHIC THE SERIES....OR...THE GATES...

i was wondering, is this the same actress that plays the character of "amy allen" in the A-Team?
No, her name is Shelley Smith:
www.imdb.com/name/nm0809948/?ref_=tt_ov_st
For some reason Judson Scott reminds me of Robert Lansing.
It is not complete. I don't think that was the end
THATZKOOL Can you tell me what month in 1981 this aired?
According to IMDb it aired 4/26/81. www.imdb.com/title/tt0083464/episodes?year=1981&ref_=tt_eps_yr_1981
why is it so low?
I copied this video from another source and couldn't improve the audio.
its TOO Bad you Dont Have ALL 9 Episodes ☹️
The show was cancelled. I have all that was released on here.
No sound?
It's just very low sound unfortunately
40:05 Damn, She thirsty. Ma' man.
Is he photosynthetic or something?
The blonde girl Shelly is beautiful
The series was cut short because it was in the bottom of the ratings and they decided to go with a mid season replacement

Suffered from bad writing and short sighted tv executives
