    An army of psychiatrists would need a century to untangle the Gibb family dynamics. Pa Gibb publicly stated at this same time his wish that Robin would “fall flat on his face” on his own while his brothers continued to turn out hits. If he did not think Robin was necessary to the Bee Gees success then such a sentiment is just spite. Robin’s welfare was of no great concern to him but his money was. That petition was all about Robin’s spending and not the well-known fact of his drug addiction. In fact, Robin had a problem with speed for 15 years and despite more than one family intervention with Andy and more than one with Maurice, there were none with Robin.

      @A S You are right. I always thought that if Molly had traveled with him and went to Miami, he would have been happier. Maybe
      He'd cheat on her again, which I don't blame Robin for because his wife was never with him, maybe he'd continue to take pills, but at least he could have a happier, healthier life. Barry Gibb is different from his siblings. he was a man, he and his wife were madly in love with each other and they always acted together to make sure no harm came to their marriage, they were loyal to each other, Linda made him a stronger man and always stood out from his brothers, had a peaceful family life, I think Robin and Maurice in Linda They needed a strong and beautiful woman like him, but I don't know if they would have stayed loyal like Barry.

      So was this interview about the father's allegation at the time? I could be wrong, but I'm of the impression based on things I've heard and read that Robin was not particularly the father's favorite. Maybe it goes back to the fact that he was a bit mischievous as a kid.

      @fatimacontes1592 Yeah, the family Gibb came down pretty hard on Robin for leaving the band. The thing that has always stood out to me is that the parents did not initiate any similar action against Maurice (who was obviously the exact same age) when he by his own admission was out partying every night, buying numerous sports cars and driving them drunk, and otherwise spending his money like a drunken sailor, all of which was widely reported in the papers. By contrast, Robin was so little seen misbehaving publicly that they claimed he was virtually a prisoner in his own home. (How they claimed to know how he was spending his money under those circumstances, I can't say.) It looked like retaliation and I think it was. I understand that their parents contributed enormously to their success with their support and encouragement but they weren't necessarily a model for how to raise children. Ma Gibb spoke quite matter of factly about a raging fire that she knew immediately Robin must have started. She referred to him as being "naughty". In most cases you would expect parents to correct the tendency towards arson in their child before it reaches the point where your first assumption about a fire is that they started it. Likewise, Barry skipped an entire year of school (it sounds like 3rd or 4th grade the way he describes it) and they never caught on. Barry seems like an intelligent person but it would require uncommon cleverness in an 8 or 9 year old to pull off such a stunt with any reasonable level of parental oversight. I don't know about their sister Leslie, but none of the 4 boys managed a high school diploma. The 3 Bee Gees were too busy out supporting the family via night club and strip joint appearances to get an education but it's hard to understand why Andy couldn't have done so.

      @beeharbour yeah to be fair, although not very nice of me to say, I almost think that the Dad was not good at keeping a job or getting a good one to the point that he and the mom lived off their kids, which isn't nice. It seems the kids didn't mind, it was a different generation that was far more duty bound than anyone nowadays, but that's my understanding based on what they've said in interviews and what I see in how they moved around so much. Do you know of a really good book about them? I'd love to read a good biography about them, but I've been unsuccessful in finding anything.

      During their divorce & "messy period", their children were taken away from Robin for good reasons. It's not like a mother could legally do that in the UK, but had to be worked out in the courts as well. So it was decided the best thing was to keep the children away from Robin's adulterous lifestyle & addiction to pills.

    Robin fired the drummer Colin Peterson and bassist Vince Melouney for playing Cream songs during a concert as they pulled a Clapton on him when Robin told them not to. He would never speak to them again and he told that he told them that he never wanted to see them again by telling to their face in a very confrontational manner. He told they were fired long before Trump came up with that line. This is what caused the rift in the Bee Gees, not Odessa album and not "first Fame"(fabricated lie by Barry Gibb) and not over a single of Barry over Robin.

    • @beeharbour
      @beeharbour Год назад +8

      There is no truth to that. Vince left on his own because he wished to have greater creative range than he was ever going to get in the Bee Gees but there were no hard feelings about it on either side. Colin was fired by Barry and Maurice after Robin left the band. I don't know the reason. Both Vince and Colin recorded Odessa as band members. Robin did not have the power to unilaterally fire anyone. The whole story is fiction.

      Colin was still with the Bee Gees when Robin left. And Robin left because he thought he could fare better on his own.
      And who died and made Robin boss? He wasn’t.

    • @Thegeniuskidsuperb
      @Thegeniuskidsuperb 4 месяца назад +1

      That’s a complete lie. Robin would never just fire anyone for no reason at all. Colin was still with The Bee Gees when Robbie left the group, and Maurice was too kind to kick someone out of the group like an entitled asshole. Vince left the group himself. Robin was a sweet and loving man who loved all kinds of women in all shapes and sizes, and was never rude to anyone unless he had a good reason to. Stop spreading lies, please.
