I have been using a digital Soundcraft UI24R mixer for some time and it has been flawless, I did add an external router to beef up the ipad connection and installed a small fan on each end of the casing in a push pull configuration just to make sure about heat. Other than these small modifications this mixer id really great and the ipad interface is so eacy to use and is very stable.
Great content...I have both mixers and I keep using the Mackie 🤦♂️ I just can't get myself to take the time to sit down and learn the the touchmix... One question about the touchmix... Don't you think it's a bit old and there hasn't been any updates to the firmware? Should that be a concern ?
I don’t think that’s a concern. Firmware updates or usually to add features or fix something. There is a chance QSC is happy with it so they are leaving it alone. They could also just not care anymore due to age. It works so I wouldn’t be concerned. I would be weary buying one though because I feel like the MK2 is right around the corner.
For DJ work? A digital mixer? Why? You're playing back professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered music. All you need is a tiny stereo analog mixer. The closest thing to any processing you're doing is using the 2 or 3 band channel EQ to dial in your sound system to the room and apply a hi-pass filter and EQ to your mic for clarity when speaking. Beyond that, it's simple volume control. It's DJ work, not mixing a live band.
For mobile DJ's that utilize all in one DJ controllers: ( AlphaTheta, Denon, Rane), an external mixer is "MANDATORY" and not an option. Pre-amp quality on these devices PALE in comparison, to the "PRE-AMPS" and HEADROOM afforded on an external Analog/Digital mixer💪
Yea I realized after I made the video I could’ve googled what RTA meant lol. Knock on wood I haven’t had any problems with the app. I also use a wireless router in my set up and have the touch mix hardwired to it. I also agree there are cheaper, and dare I say better options. I just own the touchmix so I used it as an example.
@djtechtips how do you hardwired the touchmix to the router? I've been trying to do so with a buddy's TM and haven't been successful... there wasn't a network jack.

Digital mixers are really awesome. I’m happy you get to experience it!
Presonus and Berhanger Mixers have twice the options for 1/2 the Pri ce.
Yea I wasn’t trying to sell the Touchmix. I just own it so I used it for the video. I encourage people to find what works for them.
I owned the presonus ar8 usb for over 6 years it still works great with Bluetooth if it ever dies I will buy another presonus

For some. Some DJs want complete control of their sound. To each is own, right?

I think externals are mandatory no matter what you use. You can’t beat the flexibility.
ABSOLUTELY👍
RTA=Real Time Analysis
Thanks!
Except the ipad app sucks... constantly loses connection...

There are many cheaper options, my favorite being the XR18
