My parents had a '77 DeVille D'Elegance sedan from 1979 to '88. It was all Cadillac - right down to the 7.0 liter (425-cid) engine - compared to the later 305/307-powered models. That dashboard in your '88 really brings back memories - it's no different from the '77!
I have the same 88 Brougham D'Elegance with 20,300 original miles. I am the second owner. Manufactured in Arlington Texas and spent its entire life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Yes once upon a time this particular automobile was the bread and butter for Cadillac. After the backlash from customers who did care for shrunken shoe boxes they offered from there line up. 85-89 to be exact. Had an 87 Brougham simular exterior and interior all original I was second owner. She was beautiful unfortunately do to my health had to sell. Still sad to this very day, but at least she went to another owner whom was as much of a Cadillac fanatic as I . 😆
I wouldn't say great...not much on power. GM used loads of them. The 90-92 had the Chevy 305 EFI and 350 EFI. The fuel injection helped a bunch. Summit has a EFI to go on the 307, but it's about a grand.
The XT4 wouldn't be so bad if it lived up to Cadillac Standards of quiet ride & premium sound insulation. I've watched test drive vids & heard grindy 4 cyl "engine" sounds every time they accelerated. My 2017 Chevy Cruze didn't even do that. Then the pricing with typical options, that small thing approaches $50k!?!?
I have a 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. It was my primary, daily driver but since I bought my second car (a 1985 Dodge Aries Wagon), the Cadillac has actually been relegated to a secondary role. Also, I have had persistent electrical issues with it, and the brakes just recently went out on me. Otherwise, I'd still be driving that 96,000 mile beauty (albeit, it had 88,000 on it when I got it).
You have to get a 90-92 with the fuel injected Chevy 350. That’s the engine they all should have had after the early 80’s disaster of Cadillac engines.
Nice video of this classic Cadillac. Love how you panned the interior with your camera. Definitely added to the experience. Great job.
Rest in peace to my Dad! I told myself one day I will buy one of these in his honor! Have a subs in the truck just to play oldies on sundays!

These old vehicules are the best to drive. is an experience that is hard to explain, but is like driving a yatch or a big boat in a good way.
My kind of ride. sounds of the car 2:22:My Moms parents. 2:32: Reminds me of being a kid again
Avesome car.... Beautiful video, thumbs up...
Thank you!
Love these cars, hope to own one
307 Olds is a great engine but it hates hills. I have an '88 as well.

Greatness Cadillac!
I have a 89 that I just bought yesterday and I'm tryna figure out how to gas it up
Rear licence plate cover
We'll never get this back. Ever again.
In 2020, Cadillac makes the pitiful XT4. What a disgrace.
Now we have Cadillac-BMW

Had one. Big beautiful, comfortable cruising, poorly manufactured piece of poop.
Don't get this kind of luxury and comfort anymore.
Low point for Cadillac.
Your car looks small compared to newer ones
LoL say w h a t ???
Beautiful car.Beautiful ride. Horrible 307 Olds motor. Way too heavy a car for that motor.
