Well, you know, I'm a 56 year old white man from England, i.e. far outside Mr Paak's target demographic, but I have to say this is by far the best album I've heard in years. Proof that great music just cuts right across all boundaries.
I'm from Hungary and I have to agree with you. I don't know what is it like to live in Cali and live the life this guy lived, but when I am listening to his songs I feel like I can identify with him. This guy is GREAT!
I wish I got my 55 years old dad listen to this masterpiece. Great comment anyway, makes me believe I will have a taste for good new music in those years as well :)
I was boardline suicidal and hear this song that brought my heart back to my childhood and gave me the inspiration I needed to keep life going. Big s/o to the homie anderson
Nice, love you my man ! It’s off the charts for sure … so check - here I come with a official stance . You leaving ain’t no good - you need to hold on, we need u holding on - who’s cares ? The music u gotta feel… no magic no copper field … hold yourself… I love u ! I’m a product of re runs
"who cares that your daddy couldn't be here, momma always kept the cable on" fuck. I don't think any verse I've ever heard has hit me that hard. Took that straight from my heart.
Well, you know, I'm a 827 year old dinosaur from the paleozoic era, i.e. far outside Mr Paak's target demographic, but I have to say this is by far the best album I've heard since the crustaeceous period. Proof that great music just cuts right across all species. I'd pay about tree fiddy for this one.
EVERYTIME I listen to this I'm dreaming and I swear it's like I get nervous bout my goals but this song motivates tf out of me even more to do what I have to do to make it . 💯💯
my mom is a single mom, raised 3 children on a very tight budget. My brothers are moved out in college and are doing so well, thanks to our mom. “who cares your daddy couldn’t be here, momma always kept the cable on” that really hit, because no matter the situation, mom always kept the cable on and food in our stomachs. I’m so grateful to have her as a mother, i want to show her my gratitude when i’m out of school, to show her that i appreciate her.
I'm 61. My mom was a single white mom raising two biracial girls in a predominantly black community. She worked three jobs. She passed 15 years ago. Her birthday is next week. This song just makes me cry. I miss her. I have played this song at least 50 times.
I am out of Paak's demographic target - I'm a very young 51 year old mother of 2 boys, but I can also say that this is the BEST album I've heard in years. The song "The Dreamer" hits me in the most profound point of my soul. Music can do that to you. Am on my son's account !

It's 4pm. I'm sitting in my room listening to this album next to my open window feeling a nice october breeze. Sun is shining. This album is giving me amazing vibes. The feeling i have right now is unexplainable but it's the best feeling i've had in years. What a man!
This album was given to me by a friend, and it's one of very few albums I can listen to from start to end. 10/10, gives me summer vibes, memories and stimulates the soul/mind. Very underrated album.
This young man is just so deep you got to respect. What he’s saying and feel it cause we all done seen, or lived it. I love everything he put his touch on.😎🎶🍓
cause most of those guys on the mag are overrated mumble rappers whp have no substance in the music they make. paak and a few other talent so happen to share the cover...
I listened to it 3 times today. I just can't leave it alone. The very first song sealed the deal fir me; i,e, the Bird, which is a tearjerker for me as it resonates at a very deep and soulful level. I wasn't ready. The album is an amazing and eclectic collection with a few more standout and unforgettable cuts, including surprisingly stellar contributions by the guest list of Schoolboy Q, Rapsody, Game and Talib. The soul reminded me of Bilal somewhat; maybe it's the voice, but the songwriting is all California dreaming, reminiscent of the mix of struggle and success, the debauchery and the soulful ambivalence of a Frank Ocean in his last album, yet a fresh, personal and unique perspective in its own right. Just beautiful music especially if you pay attention to its lyrical narrative.
+1 I've been thinking this reminds me of a grittier Frank Ocean. If there is one thing I don't like about Ocean, it's that his voice is so good sometimes it sounds like he's not trying... But this is pure soul
Practical Fitness- it's June 2020 and I just now so this comment... Bro, you don't know how this touched me at this moment.. in confidence, I believe this expresses your character. I had to stop the song and respond to this 😔 So much I want to say, I'll just simply say.. Thank you Brother..

This song is so old and I’m now just listening to it but I like it because rn I’m 17 about to be 18 and my father was never there for me. But one day some people cut the power from our house when I was little and the only person that kept that power on was my mom. 😇
Im here researching after "leave the door open"Ie: silk sonic collab, single, I'm a 57 year old retired DJ, good art/ music has no boundries & is ageless, I'm a new fan, my convertible thanks you for all your cds I just ordered♡
I'm so glad I gave this guy a benefit of the doubt when I watch the xxl, I checked out his music and I can truly say he is just amazing, a true genius, could arguably be one of if not the best true artist/musician of our time he is bringing back that classic 70s/80s music with a dash of Hip-Hop, with funk, R&B, jazz, neo soul music, yet at the same time smoothly fusing it into a Much Much needed fresh new sound of music. He is just so versatile, he is an all around musician through and through. He is revitalizing music much like the great legendary artists did before his time, a true student of the game. He truly is the future of this industry, no doubt.
Same when I heard thst cypher I thought he was a shitty mumble rapper but when I started seeing all these "Anderson Paak Type Beats"that sounded good I thought fine I'll give him a chance. I heard him on Mac Millers song Dang and realised how great a singer he is and checked out more of his music, I actually use his voice sample from dang on my beats

Thought leave the door open was all Bruno. Learned different on Spotify. Chose OXNARD as my 1st listen mid Sept. Hadn't listened to anything else until MALIBU tonight. Radio sucks here down in the dirty of Alabama so your reach is appreciated and salute to your longevity. OXNARD is INCREDIBLE

I swear I had this on repeat the entire hour of my weight training session today. Really has that bilal vibe. Not a coincidence bilal was once signed to aftermath/interscope. Dre had to sign this gem instantly.
Particularly when I heard The Bird I thought it was Bilal.
+TheMichbo Aww man I loved Bilal!
That comment is perfect for explaining this album
this song is so inspirational
