Just bought the Acrylic crochet hooks 👍... went to the rock yard as well and they gave me the "chosen" rocks/stones for free... how sweet is that...❤️. Love your " make your own mandala tutorial... gives me ideas for taking photos while on my vacation in Europe...
Yay for free rocks!!! They haven't done that yet at my stone yard, but maybe that's because I get big bags of rocks. Everyone once and a while I leave a painted one there and the cashier loves it.
Love it... again & again & again... beautiful... can't stop watching... now that I get it ... the heck with house cleaning again ... doing this project this weekend 👍... have a super weekend!
No.12, and just when i thought it couldnt get any better, you give us another brilliant tutorial and work of art. You are amazing my dearest friend. Thanks for sharing more great tips and techniques to create unique, one of a kind designs. The possibilities are endless. Love and blessings, your no.1 fan xxxx
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!!!!!!! I swear. I can't wait to star practicing on the last 3 videos you have shared, including this. Tks Kristin for all you had teaching me lately.
I love, love, love your creations. Sooooooo beautiful !!! I like how you show different items to use as guide lines. I never thought about my old embroidery hoops to use for this. Thanks for the ideas of what to use. I have some circular quilting stencils that I think I am going to try and use for this. Also, I noticed that when you show a close up of the designs, some of the guide lines show. I might try and touch them up when I do mine with the black, just so they are hidden better. Thank you so much for taking the time to show your work.
Yes, I always remove the guidelines, too. I wish I would have remembered to show it in this video. When I use a charcoal white pencil and I remove the guidelines with a damp Q-tip. Or, I can cover over them using as small brush with the same black paint.
I am learning so much from you. This really looks like something I can do so it's going to be todays project. I have been watching my progress daily and it helps doing one a day. I am actually keeping the last 2 days boards.
I'm so glad it is helpful. I puzzle over these things because I see a design that I want to do, but have no idea how to begin...you ,know what I mean? So, I experiment and work it out.
hi Kristin, i really appreciate the tool tips...so I thought i would pass along my own. you can use a compass to draw your circles...at least on the canvas...would not work so well on the stones...it can leave a small whole in the canvas but the paint fills it in.
I'd really love to see a tutorial on the dream catcher you did including the exact colors you used and size of what ever you use to make the dots. I looks beautiful and id love to maybe try it out someday....just came across your videos the other day and have been watching a couple videos of yours a day and i' love your work(When i saw the thumbnails of your videos i thought there would be no way i could be able to paint them but you make it look so easy) . Never really seen or heard of dot painting until your video and there is very few channels if any at all on it that have detailed tutorials so hope you keep up the great work. I really really enjoy them!
Wow, this stunning! I'm watching one video after another....Your videos are the best..great instruction, soothing voice, soft music.. Makes me think I might actually be able to paint one of these. Been painting rocks for years, but I want to do this.😍. You just seem like a nice person to know.
Me too, that was a problem and because the designs expand from the center, a small mistake in symmetry become really noticeable as you work your way out. The lines always bring you back and you can sort of make your dots a little bigger or smaller to fit the space. As long as it is symmetrical, you really don't notice a difference in dot size once you step back and look at the entire mandala.
Hi Kirstin, I love watching your videos and I am trying to practice my dotting and trying to get ideas from you but I find it hard. Would love to see how you did the dreamcatcher! You should do online teaching, like live videos so you could follow each dot we did! That would be so awesome! Thank you so so much for your ideas!! xoxo
Oh my goodness, this is beautiful and wonderfully taught. With this coronavirus making everyone stay inside, I’m finally going to try my hand in doing this type of painting. Wish me luck! LOL 😊
i love that .. i will try canvas 9x9 or 10x10 not remmeber.. will that one tomorrow when my son go school.. no bother me so i can doing without noise ha ha .. i can do that .. see if turnout i doing right.. seem you have 6 color total right .. can you list there color name so i can see if i have those here.. so i can doing same what you did.. and how you make paper measaure like you did at begninger help me.. cuz i am kind of new at dotting stuff cuz i start attractive to love doing it.. .... i always painting but dotting more notice :)
I don't like this video.. I LOVE IT!!!!! I am so envious of your hubby! I want my own staind glass dotted painting! Guess this will inspire me to practice more! Keep them coming!!!
im lovin these videos...i just discover this type of paintings yesteday.and im obessed where i already done 2 so far but there not as perfect as yours but with little more practice i will be a pro lol...thanks for sharing ur beautiful painting with us!!
I almost edited that out, but I figured someone would need to see how to fix a boo boo. I was able to get most of the paint up because I moved quickly. Sometimes the dot has already formed a "skin" and you can't get the edges off, so you have to carefully paint over with black, let it dry and then place the right color on top of that.
Also, for the Dream Catcher, in the bigger canvas... what did you use to draw the bigger circles as a guide? I'm trying to find something I can use to make the larger circle.
Do you plan your colours before? I mean, you just choose the colours before and then you just use them like you want or do you do like a sketch to see the final effect of the colours?
I am a quilter, so I am used to staring at an entire wall of fabric and coming up with color combinations for a certain pattern. I also look at things like flowers, and scarves, and business logos to see what combinations really catch my eye. Once I pick a group off three or four colors, I lay the bottles next to each other and just try to "see" the pattern on the rock or the canvas, then start working my way out from the center. I never really know howe it is going to turn out and that is part of the fun.
I am having a heck of a time finding those particular crochet hooks on Amazon and didn't see a link in your description. Would you mind sharing a link for me so I make sure that I get the correct ones? Thank you so much! I am addicted to your channel now that I found it. :)
That is a good question. I started on rocks, and the nice thing about them is that they are very easy to wash off if you aren't satisfied with the result. So you can keep at it until you like it. A Canvas means you'll have to paint over with black to use it again, and it will always have small bumps from the paint underneath. But, you can practice on cheaper card stock if you don't have a good stone that is big enough. A dark color works the best. For me, learning to space consistently was what took the longest. Guidelines help while you are learning. After a while you won't need them.
Your painting shows are amazing and motivating. I like to try it. Can you tell me where to buy a set of punches? I live in Europe in Slovakia. In the preview I saw small colored plastic sticks? How do I have to look at the shop? Thank you so much for your administration - I wish many creative energies to your art - let people bring joy to thank Alena
I forgot to ask in my last comment, but I have some black canvasses. Is it best to paint them with the black paint before I do my mandalas? Your dream catcher is outstanding.
But keep in mind, if you make a mistake, you won't really be able to paint over in black paint on that spot and have it become invisible, because it will always show the difference between the black canvas and the black paint spot.
Kristin, I went to my local Hobby Lobby to see if they had those crochet hooks. They had a set but the handles were not perfectly flat. Are the ones you are using flat, the ones you got on Amazon? Thanks for all that you do, your videos are amazing and so helpful.
I went to a local landscaping business and found some well-formed rocks have my manicure set and pencils, just need to get the crochet hooks and I'll be good to go, so excited.
I was at Hobby Lobby today and found exactly what you were talking about. I had them in my hand, then opened up the package to find they were slightly convex on the bottom and put them back. I looked for them at Michaels as well and they didn't have them. I'm going to order from Amazon.
Yes, same thing happened to me when I looked at the bottom, guess I will have to bite the bullet and pay the postage for Amazon since I don't have PRIME.
Beautiful ! enjoy watching your videos inspiring ......where could I get patterns ? would the pattern tell u what size dots n where to place them ? I'm little overwhelmed but REAllY love to try !!
I either use a damp Q-Tip to dab them off, or paint over them with the same Matte black paint I used to prep the board. Once the paint dries it becomes invisible.
I use a white chalk pencil that I used to keep in my sewing box with my quilting supplies. Once I'm done painting, I simply dab off the extra lines with a damp Q-tip.
Hi my Dearest Kristin... hope all is well ... on the "Dream Catcher". Where would I put my center ? 16x20" canvas ... thank you in advance for your update as I know you are extremely busy...
It is lovely & so simple & easy to follow. I like all your videos. I have tried the peacock design & it turned out so good. Please do the dream catcher tutorial on the bigger canvas 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 😊

That dream catcher has got to be my absolute favourite out of all your pieces that I've seen! Just beautiful!!
Thank you so much. I really love it, too. We have it on the bedroom wall and it is the first thing we see when we get up in the morning.

Brilliant...never would have thought to do that with the circles. This is beautiful as usual. 👍👏

I really like the idea of using the lines. I have trouble getting my patterns on rocks to look balanced. I get a little off pattern.
Me too, that was a problem and because the designs expand from the center, a small mistake in symmetry become really noticeable as you work your way out. The lines always bring you back and you can sort of make your dots a little bigger or smaller to fit the space. Thank you so much. My husband was so happy to see it hanging in the bedroom when he got home from work.

I loved it and I have done it. Thank you for sharing
I like the design and colors! On my to-do list for sure, Thanks!
Also, for the Dream Catcher, in the bigger canvas... what did you use to draw the bigger circles as a guide?
I'm trying to find something I can use to make the larger circle.
I used Embroidery hoops. They are so handy!
Love your videos. I am getting rocks and starting tomorrow! So inspiring!
To make circles, wouldn't a school compass work as well?
stunning. just stunning.
Wowww super nice 👍🏼
De México sra Lucia Chávez estoy aprendiendo y lo que me orienta mucho es ver los colores de las pinturas con las que sé está pintando gracias
How do you get ride of any transfer lines if they are left? I am still practicing and learning how to control my dotting. thank you
I love your videos. Would you be able to do a tutorial on the dream catcher painting you made for your husband? It is so lovely!
Stunning!
Can you show the last bit of that huge dream catcher mandala please
Love the dream catcher too plz make a video of it

ABSOLUTELY GORGUSS!
Would love to see a dream catcher tutorial on a 12x12 if possible please
Hi Kristin, so good to see you again. Very very beautiful. Both of them. Loved the video. Stay blessed with creativity 🤗😘😇
Oh thank you, Janki So far, it is still a lot of fun and I'm still getting inspired. I think the generous feedback has a lot to with that.
That is soooo nice!!!
Thank you for sharing but why don't you use drawing compasses?
I do have them, but I had subscribers ask if I could show them how to make grid using things that they have around the house.
I am having a heck of a time finding those particular crochet hooks on Amazon and didn't see a link in your description. Would you mind sharing a link for me so I make sure that I get the correct ones? Thank you so much! I am addicted to your channel now that I found it. :)
when learning to make these do you suggest to start on a paper then work on other objects like a rocks?
That is a good question. I started on rocks, and the nice thing about them is that they are very easy to wash off if you aren't satisfied with the result. So you can keep at it until you like it. A Canvas means you'll have to paint over with black to use it again, and it will always have small bumps from the paint underneath. The colored sticks are Redheart Acrylic crochet hooks available on Amazon. I use the back end of them and they are wonderful dotting tools.
So lovely beautiful colours could you tell me please what measurement to use if I did this on a 4x4 🙈thank you for any help 🙏
Maravilloso !!! Que agradables a la vista !!!!
Excellent ! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Kathy!
I want to get started in trying this but not sure what dotting tools to use. Can you recommend some?
Roxann Kidd She has a tips video with tools
I forgot to ask in my last comment, but I have some black canvasses. Is it best to paint them with the black paint before I do my mandalas? Your dream catcher is outstanding.
I think it would work find to paint right on the black canvas. The only difference would be a little less density in the black back ground.
But keep in mind, if you make a mistake, you won't really be able to paint over in black paint on that spot and have it become invisible, because it will always show the difference between the black canvas and the black paint spot.
So beautiful!!
that's a piece of art
Kristin, I went to my local Hobby Lobby to see if they had those crochet hooks. They had a set but the handles were not perfectly flat. Are the ones you are using flat, the ones you got on Amazon? Thanks for all that you do, your videos are amazing and so helpful.
Yes, the ones she got on Amazon, are flat. I have them. They are GREAT, for Rock Mandalas!!!
I went to a local landscaping business and found some well-formed rocks have my manicure set and pencils, just need to get the crochet hooks and I'll be good to go, so excited.

Yes, the ones I got were from Amazon and they are flat. I made sure, and then bought three sets.
I am working on a little project where I'm trying to do a solar eclipse Mandala rock.
Could you please give me a little direction and guidance
This is really beautiful. 😊 i have a question: how do you erase the white lines?
I am curious. Have you tried a stylus set that has different round ends on them?
Beautiful ! enjoy watching your videos inspiring ......where could I get patterns ? would the pattern tell u what size dots n where to place them ? I'm little overwhelmed but REAllY love to try !!
Hello your work is amazing such a lovely lady thank you for sharing. May I ask what the pain is called please xx
Love your work and lucky hubby with the dream catcher. Is that your next video (hint hint).
Thank you!
i really like ur work. u r ms. perfectionist
How did you remove the white lines? Wait till dry and use a damp cloth ? Please advise... thanks!
I either use a damp Q-Tip to dab them off, or paint over them with the same Matte black paint I used to prep the board. Once the paint dries it becomes invisible.
I use a black CD/DVD marker to remove the white lines. It works well too.....
Great! Why not use a compass? They do it alll the time.
What u used to draw the lines on black board? White colour pencil?
Love your videos, and your work!
What do you do the lines with on the canvas?? White Pencil? Chalk? or do use any special pencil?
I use a white chalk pencil that I used to keep in my sewing box with my quilting supplies. Once I'm done painting, I simply dab off the extra lines with a damp Q-tip.
Very beautiful
Omg the one at the end is beautiful too!! Love it!! 💕
Eu amo seu trabalho. Um beijo do Brasil.
How do you remove pencil marks off the canvas once the mandala is complete and the paint is dry?
Hi my Dearest Kristin... hope all is well ... on the "Dream Catcher". Where would I put my center ? 16x20" canvas ... thank you in advance for your update as I know you are extremely busy...
Love your work... 🥀
So beautiful! You've inspired me!!
Lovely! I hope you try it. It really is a lot of fun to make something pretty that lasts.
is it possible to create letters with this technique?
Absolutely beautiful ❣
It is lovely & so simple & easy to follow. I like all your videos. I have tried the peacock design & it turned out so good.
Please do the dream catcher tutorial on the bigger canvas 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 😊
Thank you so much. There have been many requests for the dream catcher, so I will make a tutorial for it.
