I always underestimated this park. Finally went and love it. Blue Mesa is my favorite part too. We backpacked into the ‘free area’ on the north end once. It was like camping on the moon.
It absolutely looks like the moon. Such a surreal landscape. One of our next goals is some of the backcountry hiking that they have in and around there.
Man, Glenn…..I hope to get there some day. Ancient history abound! Just listen to the sandstone…..it tells a story of time. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video.
Thanks! We've both been there many times and is one of our favorite parks in this state. Just so different - even IN the park! 😄 Glenn and I have made a whole series on this place.
I got lucky and was there late in the day and the painted desert looked amazing. But wasn’t able to take any hikes 🤪 and its good to know I wasn’t the only one with wind problems
Thanks for this coverage! "Painted Desert" is an appropriate name. The petrified wood looks like an artist's palette. If it's anything like an Australian desert the colours change with the season and the time of day. I've seen some rich and vivid reds, oranges, and purples. 🏜️
Painted Desert looks amazing. Every single time I go through that area it is cloudy and rainy and it still looks great, but wow, those colors during good weather. Every time I see the petrified trees I think about how crazy it is that dinosaurs could have been rubbing up against them and climbing them.
We were only here once over the last few years as we were heading somewhere else we didn’t give the park the attention it deserves. I’d love to go back. I’ll bet it is always windy!!
It is. It seems to always be windy in that area - Meteor Crater is the other location we have rarely experienced windless days. Fine for visiting, not great for filming. 😅
Glenn THANK YOU for everything you do & Go Through to share these videos with us. Looks like you got more Windburn than sunburn in this one. Been watching some rockhounding vids & seeing petrified wood sliced & polished is pretty cool. ps Excellent editing as always Amy.
Please take the time to tell your viewers the state you are in and where this park is located (such as 125 miles south of Tuscon, Arizona, etc.). I'm in Florida and you have viewers from all over the world.
We do understand that for viewers watching on a TV that that info is not as accessible. However, information regarding where we film (as well as the date filmed) is always in our descriptions - including a link to the location's website and a map to it. We also try to put the state locations in the video's title. We are based in Arizona so much of our content is here.

Happens to us EVERY. TIME. I don't think we've been there once without wind howling. 😂
Wow, very interesting park. I really enjoyed watching .
One of our favorites! Thanks for visiting. 😄👍
I visited the Painted Desert as a child but had no idea that the Blue Mesa existed. Now I wanna go!
Thanks for sharing.
It's a fun little hike down among the colored hills. 😄
Something I would had loved to had gone and seen when last there with a group at White Cone. Maybe need to make another trip and go see.
Thank you we enjoy your videos and commentary!
We appreciate that! Thank you so much! 😊

Oh for sure! There is a little public park not far away that we filmed a while back and the colors at sunset changed everything. 🤩

It really is! A dinosaur could have had a favorite tree and maybe it's one we as humans pass by every day. Crazy thought, isn't it?

Holy crap man that wind in nuts. Next trip take a kite 🤣
Haha! So long as it's just a one string kite, all peaceful and such. Surely national park service won't mind. 😂
Wow! Thanks so much! I love the desert but never been ☹️
Oh no! Well, that has to change! And if not, you're more than welcome to stick around we'll bring it to you. 👍
@@CactusAtlas yes you will !!!! Technology can be fantastic when used for good. Thanks again
I live here!

I'm assuming they rate the difficulty level of the hiking trails for people with minor mobilities issues in mind, i.e. weak knee(s).
Likely. Gotta keep everyone in mind. 👍
