- Hello Everyone!
I am super excited to put together this video where we really dive into the technical breakdowns of the Medora variation from Le Corsair, Le Cardin Animé.
A variation I love and have done myself at The Mariinsky Theatre.
If you enjoy this type of video, let me know and we can dive in to more variations!
I don't own these videos and they are for educational purposes only. They belong to the rightful owners

please do keep breaking down variations-it’s hugely helpful for me to understand the emphases and little flair moments that make such a wonderful difference in these performances
For sure!
Here is the entire Corsaire with Asylmuratova: ruclips.net/video/_HCyNG0mHIk/видео.htmlsi=FX1Q-I_nDFW3f1YG
The variation is at 1:16:33
Yes, and this variation starts at around 1.16.30 min! Interesting though, Altinay herself doesn’t travel all the way down the stage in this last diagonal, she only gets to the center of the stage. I thought it was supposed to be like that
Glad you guys like it! Full respect for Maria who we all know is beautiful. This is an analytical video breaking down technique to help you all achieve this and see what it takes to execute the movements along with my friendly personal preferences 😊 enjoy! Let me know variations you’d like me to do ❤️
On Maria Khoreva's channel there is also a video of her 'teaching' the audience the Medora variation, and when the ballonne on pointe part came she also said that there are a lot of choices for the dancer and the coach to decide. I think maybe Maria intentionally chose the softer approach because it seemed more 'her'?
Yeh totally fine - I’m sure it is intentional - I love the more dynamic leg approach at the end ❤
Isabella I would love for you to analyze Osipova especially in coppelia when she crosses the stage with brisés 😮
Thank you for the video. María is technically excellent, in addition to being delicate and light, with beautiful lines and an outstanding sense of musicality, probably helped by her mastery of the piano; it is always a pleasure to watch her dance.
Another beautiful piece of wisdom. God blessed you from a young age my friend. I really hope that you are able to bring your teaching gifts to American students. I adore you.
Thank you for elucidating what I would have totally missed !
Yes, I would Love more technical break down videos. I enjoy them very much.😊💝
Her dancing is so beautiful I can scarcely watch anyone else❤ I love her subtlety…
Thank you Isabella 🙏🙏🩰🩰🩰👵🇦🇺
My favorite ballerina of all time by far, I can't imagine a ballerina who embodies the art better. She looks like she truly enjoyed the performance and must have trained intensely for years. I still don't get what you mean with the coordination of the leg heights during the leap frog jump but I do appreciate the still frame pauses of inspirational posture that looks flawless to me.
Thank you Isabella! Excellent! Greetings from Brazil ❤😊
Could you analyse the 3rd shade variation from La Bayadere?
I really like this version:

Love the breakdown even as a non dancer ❤
Love to see your technical commentary as well as the artistic side, thank you so much for everything you're doing!
Really enjoyed this. Great to get your insights and to hear some of your personal stories. 🙌🏼
I love your videos and I love to dance but please tell me I’m not the only one who can’t pay $200 for an online class. No hate ❤❤❤also sorry if that sounds rude because I’ve never done ballet in a academic ❤
Originally Pierina Legnani's variation from "Cinderella", music by Boris Fitinhoff-Schell, 1893.
Oh yeah… Masha is gorgeous here but watched AA and she’s SPECTACULAR!
Do young dancers watch these videos to learn from their artistry? Seems like that would be the norm.
I'm so glad you did this analysis -- having your perspective of training this for performance gave some great insight into the intense strength and coordination to achieve a beautiful, ethereal presentation. It makes me sad when I see people leaving cruel, judgmental comments about Maria's dancing, when she clearly has such a work ethic for fine technique that she uses as a solid base for embodying characters ❤
Excuse my English, what a wonderful whistle you have.
hi im working on 3rd odalisque could you do pls love you u helped me so much
Love your videos , thank you Isabella!
I am an absolute beginner viewer. Have been watching a few channels and I think I could be interested enough to attend a performance of a ballet if my city has a show.
As an audience member, how dressed up do I need to be? My impression is that ballet is an elite pursuit. Am I incorrect with this? Regards, Paul
I think it depends which city you’re in, for example if you were going to see the New York City Ballet or American Ballet Theatre (both in NYC) I’d imagine that everyone would be very dressed up given that these are some of the most renowned ballet companies in the world and hence, the tickets would likely be very expensive! However, if you’re just going to see a local production then you could pretty much wear anything! You will be sitting in the dark the entire time
@@Sophiesdays thanks for that.
I love your channel, cheers from Peru!
love these kind of vods~ super helpful
That was lovely!
