The target audience is clearly exe game veterans, and the game targets them directly during the Knuckles segment by calling them out for watching characters die from behind a screen. The game then makes a major effort to break the 4th wall, staring right back at the player to make them feel as uneasy as Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman have been for a decade of being chased and killed. It also makes the player feel unsafe, like the game is constantly watching them to ensure that they have to endure the experience start to finish like every other slaughterfest they've played with far less concern.
This is honestly THE most terrifying Sonic.exe game out there. If you want a .exe game to scare the living daylights out of you, this game means business!

The fact that they had the Yellow thing cry and everything that is said to the player is perfect as an old school Creepypasta. The game isn't hell for any of the characters, but it's a hell for the player. Given the context, they are primarily going after the people who play Sonic.exe.
