2024 Nissan Z Performance | Competitive Enough and Worth Buying?

- 👋 Today lets take a full look at the 2024 Nissan Z Performance. This Nissan Z was finished in Boulder Gray over a blue interior and featured the 6 speed manual transmission. For $55,000 this 2024 Nissan Z Performance was about fully loaded for the Performance trim. You will find a 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 engine packing 400 HP and 350 TQ. The Nissan Z can do 0-60 in the low 4 seconds range and tops out at 155 MPH. This was a cool spec and great color combination and overall the Nisan Z gives you a fun GT style sportscar. My biggest complaints are the seats. They feel very small and aren't too supportive. I feel too tall in this car with no leg support. The Nismo trim has Recaro bucket seats and are amazing to sit in! The Z does lack some features for it's price tag like adaptive suspension, steering, exhaust and drive modes. And since it's weighs 3,500 pounds it does feel a bit heavy in the turns. It's comfortable overall and very fast but you can tell it's not really a super tight agile sports car. So if you want a nice basic sports car for cruising and has power, the Nissan Z is a cool option. But at the same price point you can buy a Toyota Supra or Ford Mustang GT and get a lot more performance and refinements. So it's a tough category and price range and I'd like to see a bit more out of the Z.

I’m love my 24 Z performance! It’s a beautiful car I get lots of comments from younger men and women! Kids and teenagers love my car. My wife and I get groceries in it every weekend.
Oh nice!
It’s a win-win. It’s a no-brainer. I bought one. It’s definitely fast. A little sketchy and higher speeds but so far it’s impressive and it’s a six speed manual.
Yeah cool car overall
@@nachomandetailingservices1057 sketchy is relative to what you've driven before this
Change the tires to Michellen pilot sport 4s tires and some of the Zs problems will be solved.
@@gwapogreg5837 ya think I might do that.
I'm a Toyota guy, but once I saw the new Z in person, I knew I needed to get one one day.
It's pretty cool overall for sure!
Hater or not this will probably be the last Z and collectable and is more iconic than the Supra that Toyota doesn't actually make .
5 model years into the Supra, people still love them and they sell for MSRP new, and nearly MSRP on the used market. 2 model years into the Z and they are discounted already on the new market and depreciating a lot on the used market. Time will tell
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes Nissan was so close on this one it's almost seems like a committee car.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed One thought is you can get a new gr86 and a new mx5 for about the same price.
I have only seen 2 as well. If it was maybe $5k cheaper would have bought one. Surpisingly saw an Emira before I saw the second Z. Seems Nissan should be selling more - just not sure why not.
@@sethi100 Yeah they really should have undercut the Supra by at least $10k. Then more people would buy it. Used market isn’t doing these any favors. Can get them in the $40k range now. Unfortunately that doesn’t help Nissan
I think the new Z is one of the best-looking cars in production today. They nailed the mix of all the different generations of Z car. The performance is plenty for the street, and the potential for more is there. I think it looks a lot better than the Supra, Mustang, or anything else that would be considered a competitor.
Yeah it has a lot going for it. For me tho, the handling needs improving. Supra takes turns way better. And the seats in the Z are pretty uncomfortable and just don't cradle you like a sports car. So it has some things to be desired for the money. Can get a Supra at a similar price and it's just a much better driving car
Nissan raised the price, still behind on production, and now that many auto companies are pushing for EV (especially Nissan) I don't foresee the prices of new or used Z's going down, if anything, ICE sports cars like the Z and Supra are probably going to appreciate in Value, crazy
Yeah this car should be less. However I just filmed one at a dealer and they are offering discounts now!
Just picked mine up for $51,000 cad with only 9,000km
You're spot on bro! I'm glad you said it. Nissan needs to know. Besides they killed themselves because, when they announced the will make the Z. They said that they were aiming at a base of $36,900. When they finally announced pricing they went $3,000 higher. Then 6 months into selling the Z they increased the price from $39,900 to $41,970. Now it's $42,970. Meanwhile... Canada got the $36,900 msrp. Which in America, that's about $35,500, yet Canada sells about 90% less Z's. Why do they get the right price? I took the price difference between America and Canada as a slap in the face. They're dependent on our economy, not Canada's. I took it personal as an American. And I think we all should because THIS COUNTRY gave the Z it's legendary status. Not Canada. I was a die-hard Z fan until this car. This pricing felt abusive and snarky. The Z was 5 yrs outdated upon its release. There's something to be said about that. I was one of those that kind of scoffed at TOYOTA for passing off a Z4 as a Supra. But after nissans laughable pricing. I realized that at least Toyota did their best to give you a quality product... even if it meant begging BMW to use the heart of the Z4 for the Supra. To me that Z performance is worth $46,000 at best, and the nismo is about $56/57,000. I couldn't see them any higher
Yeh great points! The Supra is a solid car and very high quality with the performance and refinement to back up the price all day long. Z, while being a true Nissan, is a 370 with the new engine and infotainment. We are starting to see some dealer discounts tho, but I'd like to see a lower overall price if this is what the Z will be for this generation
@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes sir! This is a 370z update/refresh that should've taken place as a 2016 model in 2015. Nissan shot themselves in the foot by using CVT transmissions and rebranding their cars. Now we are supposed to pay for their mistakes by paying for subpar cars at premium prices! No thanks... that's like dating a girl because she's pretty but she only bathes once a month and her draws have skidmarks. You just don't do it. Lol.
Can people start addressing the issues with the engine? This shares the engine in the newer infiniti q60-q50 which have been having turbo and engine block issues since 2017. Would love for that to get talked about more so the issues can be addressed in the new z. People already having the issue in the new z😬
I haven't really seen much about that. I only review new ones and don't know anyone who even owns the new Z. Nobody on RUclips even owns one of these to even talk about what it's truly like to own.
can you please compare this Z performance to the 2024 Mustsng Ecoboost?
We’ve made 2 videos on that.
ruclips.net/video/RFvOnfWIE3Q/видео.htmlsi=nwR6EE2QHAWcw_th
ruclips.net/video/_eUElCWl-Vg/видео.htmlsi=GLDNKU1o5qIwreL4
Kind of the opposite in my area. I've only seen maybe 5 supra's. I've seen a few new Z's & own a black performance model. My local dealer has a 2024 Nismo & a black performance manual. I don't like the looks of the supra, & I don't want a 1/2 bmw product.
I'd prefer if Nissan improved the look of the square hole some more, maybe a splitter type thing like my prior 370Z Nismo had. The Nismo felt like a race car, hugged the roads better and of course had far better seats.
Yeah it has a lot to offer. I've only seen a few out there tho. But now you can buy a used Performance for mid $40k range and brand new dealer have discounts. So it's becoming a better buy now that they are depreciating. The Supra holds better value tho. So depending on how you bought one, you could either lose a ton of money buying a Z, or get one for a good deal.
This car for those who can't afford a GTR 😅😂
I can see that. A Gould Half price car. But the Supra has a lot more high end features for not much more money
The vast majority of people can't afford a new GT-R.
These are still overpriced and marked up. You can get a 2013 GTR for 60k that will destroy this Z all day long stock for stock. I saw one of these at my Nissan dealership going for $110k. The salesman was all like you wanna trade in your GTR for it? I was like why so I can downgrade? He didn't understand. I just laughed at him and left.
@@Unicornpirate where the hell was a nissan z going for 110k
@@UnicornpirateI call bullshit you never saw a nismo going for more than 70k
I didn't feel the seats that bad and I'm 6'1
Yeah for me they are just so flat and nothing like a real bucket seat. The Supra or Nismo Z seats cradle me so much better. No leg support in this car
Supras have been out much longer. I only saw a few in the first few years.
True. But by now it's been about 2 years with the Z out. I saw way more Supra at the 2 year mark
@@BrosFOURRSpeed We're still in the first full year of the Z's availability. Plus, from what I've read, Nissan dealers engaged in exorbitant dealer markups.
YMMV, but I live in DFW, the fourth largest metro area in the nation, had a 20-mile commute each way, & saw only a handful of Supras the first couple of years. Even now, I don't see that many.
@@utxex97 The 2023 Z was hitting dealers late 2022. So it’s been two years. They’ve just done a poor job producing them and pricing them. Supra production and supply was much better. And the product is more desirable
Supra stopped in 98 here in the US so not sure what Supra you are referring to unless you think its that BMW Z4 that is identifying as a Supra ...
@@ACommenterOnRUclips The MK5 Supra is still a Supra. Toyota was in the development just as much as BMW.
2006 Porsche 911 Carrera with 32k miles.. or this. I'm torn. They're really so similar in speed, size, etc.. but the Porsche probably gets more looks even with it being almost 20 years old.
Honestly I'd go Toyota Supra. The MK5 has the European refinements and much better handling then the Z and a bit more power
Why you care who's looking at your car?
@@hpickettz34 Did I say I cared? Keep playing games globie. ;)
@@mumenrider862 I care. Back when I had my Golf R I got no compliments at the gas pumps or thumbs up like I was always used to. Gotta say, I noticed this. It think certain cars are too mundane.
Based on sales Nissan will reduce this Z to 39,000 ASAP!
Would be nice to see! I have already seen Nissan put discounts on these!
These cars are going to age better than the Supra. The Supra gauge cluster and interior is already dated. Yes the Z interior is somewhat dated as it has a lot of recycled parts but the new cluster and infotainment look like they have a better chance for the future. Also the Z interior just looks better. Nice review 👍👍
Maybe. But 5 years of the Supra and it's still a much nicer car. Z interior is almost identical to the 2009 370Z. So we'll see, but so far Supras hold better value and are more popular.
Thanks for checking out the vid!
@DavidGonzalez-fk8lp: I've seen others say this too, but I just don't see it. The Z looks nice, but there's nothing unique about it imo. The Supra on the other hand, looks nice as well, but it also looks like nothing else on the road.
I'm constantly getting stares, points, and thumbs up in the Supra. I've also had multiple people walk up and ask me about it while I'm pumping gas.
Personally, I think the one with the more unique look will age better. Not to mention the B58, which is pretty much considered one of those "legendary" engines at this point.
@@tizodd6 Yeah the Supra will go down as a great car for sure! Even with the BMW haters. The Z is already depreciating quite a lot on the used market. So would be a good cheap car at some point
No.
Yeah some other good choices for sure like a Supra or Mustang GT
Supra>z
Short answer is z is not the answer
lol
The front bumper cover and headlights looks like shit 😂😂😂😂
How would you design them?
I found one with 1.5k miles for 10k off MSRP...good deal?
Nice! Yeah seems like a good way to go! These are pretty good once discounted.
Love my 2024 Z. Im a Toyota fan, but the Supra styling was just too far out for me. The Z is a pretty car with excellent styling.
Oh nice! They did a cool job with the retro look!
Supra design way better
@@leonut81 Hahaa... No.
@@gonzo14o14 yes!!!! I have both 😂
@@leonut81 Hahahahaa... This is so funny.
I just bought the 2024 6 speed performance Z yesterday. Quite a step up from my old 04 350z. Absolutely love it - feels so much better than the older models with ride and acceleration.
IMO 400 hp 2x turbo is more than enough for city / town driving.
The "rev-matching" feature for the manual is pretty impressive... very precise.
But i like to do my own double-clutch downshifts, most of the time. 😊
Oh fun!
$49,990 would get my attention.
I’ve seen three in my area since release.
I’ll keep my Supra for now.
I agree! Would love to see a price drop!
400hp 6sp, fully Japanese car. ill cop
Yeah nice car overall. Now you can get these discounted at the dealers and wayyy cheaper on the used market. So they are becoming a good deal
If someone gave me a new Z, I'd gladly take it, but the design missed the mark a little (that square front end...). Yea, it's basically a 370Z with new sheetmetal and the 3.0 TT engine... The 370Z IMHO looks so much better, but it was long in the tooth. I'll keep my 2011 that I've sunk entirely too much money into making it how I want it. There could be a Z1 supercharger in its future... Despite what I paid for it, plus about 8 or 9K making it how i want it, plus another 10K for the supercharger and a preventive gallery gasket repair, I'll be much less than a $55,000 performance Z and I'll be faster. Where Nissan did it right, is the NISMO Z. Too bad it's basically $70K. I love a stick shift, but I've grown to like the automatic so if anyone wants to give me a NISMO... 😀
Yeah I agree. The Nismo Z is awesome! We had one for a week and loved it! But I can't see spending more on the Nismo Z then a BMW M2. And a solid $8k more than my manual Supra. I wish they were better priced across the board. Sounds like you Z is pretty sweet!
I was gonna get a Z until a manual Supra came out now I have a 24 Supra 3.0 Premium and it is everything you think it'll be. The more I look at the Z I would have been left wanting. It's a great 40k car anything above is not worth it.
I was in the same boat. Was planning to buy a Z Performance. But when my Toyota dealer got a manual Supra in. I couldn't say no for only $5k more. Well worth it. The Z cars are depreciating and some people are picking these up in the $40k range now!
Adaptive suspension would be huge on this car and the Nismo. There are quite a few at nearby dealerships around Mooresville where I am. There is a black Nismo at Concord and Gastonia has several including a nice blue on blue. There is a white Nismo in Winston-Salem. I don't see any on the road though. In fact, I would think "sucker" if I saw someone with the Nismo at current prices. Maybe in 2025 there will be some upgrades.
Nah, stick with the 370z Nismo...its way better
Yeah I'd go old Nismo over this. New Nismo is fun, but needs a manual
In my area they’re going around 45-48k with 500-2k miles. Is it worth it?
Not a bad way to go! About what I've seen
Was this a comment on the Z or an advertisement for the owner's Supra? Bearing in mind that the outside styling is more classic than that of the Supra, one should note that the listed MSRP of the Supra is actually $63, 500. That's more than the $5000 difference stated by the reviewer. I'm glad that the reviewer enjoys his Supra. But the clean lines, beauty, and ease of driving makes my Z a real joy to own and drive daily. And I like the seats.
Just a review about the Z. However as a Supra owner it's really hard to ignore the fact that you can spend $5k more on a Supra and get a significantly better 2 seat sportscar. I was going to buy the Z, but bought a Supra instead. Much better purchase. Also used Supras, especially manuals, go for MSRP a year later. The Z would have tanked in value and I would have lost $10k on one of these. But now I am seeing used Z's for mid $40k range and brand new discounted to low $50k. So now these are becoming a pretty good buy and more competing with a Civic Type-R in price.
The Z seats to me are super uncomfortable. No support on my legs
It's a decent car for sure, but I remember when you tested the Nismo, and it's definitely the one to buy if you want it good right out of the box imo!!
Yeah the Nismo is much better in every way! Just can't see spending more on it than a Supra.
@BrosFOURRSpeed Yes, I forgot to mention that the price is a problem tho lol
Heritage totally. Design here and there were taken from the 1st generation Z which I like. Technology is newer and better than the Supra. Both Supra and Z are wonderful cars and in the end it's just a matter of preference. I already have the quote for Z performance, just buying my time to make sure I make the right decision (no buyers remorse). Good quick review Bros4Speed!
Definitely drive both before you buy. I was going to buy the Z, but after driving a few, I bought abutter Supra. But if you can get a good discount on the Z and get it $10k less than a Supra, that'd be a good deal.
I would to get one of those over other cars. I enjoy the style and even if others are faster. I think it would be fast enough for me
Yeah it has the power for sure. Just the handling is not as good as the competition. And the interior is a bit old
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I got ya, dang. Kinda in the opposite boat with an 24 SI, the handling is great and the interior is nice but man it really needs power. Sound system is just okay too...
@@2ZH Yeah I can see that. Check out the Supra. Can get a good used one in the $40k range. Solid car
@@BrosFOURRSpeed that's not to bad honestly, but yeah sure I'll check it out
@@2ZH we have tons of Supra content lol
Yes. We definitely want this over the competition. It looks waaaaay way better than any other car at this segment out there.
Fun option for sure!
Too slow for me.
@@hpickettz34 Plenty of faster cars out there
@gonzo14o14: Looks are subjective. I have a 22 Supra and I prefer its looks over the Z. The Z looks decent from the side and back, but that big rectangle grille kills it for me.
I do understand that the Supra's exotic lines might be too much for some though. The Z has a more low-key look.
That infotainment is super laggy wtf? Imagine paying 50k for a car and have a screen that laggy.
Yeah really not all to fancy
It's really not that laggy.
@@hartsickdisciple Compared to BMW idrive which is super responsive yes it is. You can see him swiping the screen twice to get it to turn pages
@@Unicornpirate I've used late model iDrive and the infotainment system in the Z Performance. The difference really isn't that big. People make a big deal out of nothing.
The base Sport manual is the best buy - save yourself a good amount of cash to tune it.
Yeah it's got some good power for the money. Just basic brakes, no LSD and a cheap interior
Tune a sport model with base brakes is not a very good idea, it throws off the balance of the car, but you kids don't care about that.
@@hpickettz34 yeah lots of people just want power. Handling is more fun to play with I think in lighter cars
@@hpickettz34 by tune I mean fitting better brakes on it as well, not just about power.
@Foiiiii1 and don't forget wheels and tires, base only comes with 245 18inch, you should just get the performance model then, because it comes with all that plus the lsd.
The exterior is great! That blue on the nice interior is hideous! I would love to know how reliable it will be in the future, driving it daily.
Probably not bad, the Z's have been very reliable and it's basically the same engine as before.
Supra > Z. Supra drives and sounds better. With Supra you can have lot more fun keeping it stock while Z doesn't seem that fun in it's stock state.
Very true! The Z needs some work to even be close to the stock Supra. My manual Supra was all modified. And now it's back to stock and still a blast to drive!
I think 38k would be perfect price for this old ass and new at the same time car
Yeah would have been nice to see the Sport be around $35k and the Performance be closer to $45, and the Nismo be $55k. But would also be nice to have packages in between like the 370Z had
How's 2005 man??...
No just go buy the supra. this is a dumb video
Not a dumb video, just showcasing my review of it. But yes for the money Supra offers so much!
You should buy a Camry Se with the two packages for 35,687 total. You should never look at another car.
lol I'll pass. My wife's RS3 is a good sedan for us ;)
The Camry is great tho for people wanting an economical car. But we like performance cars in my house

We have a few videos of the manual Z. It's a fine car, but just costs too much when the Supra is way better for not much more
