You are so ridiculously refreshing to the BookTube community. I’ve found myself getting so tired of the hyperactive screaming that seems to be the majority of BookTubers. You are so calm and composed, not to mention your collection of glasses is seriously enviable. I am so glad I stumbled upon your BookTube!

I've just finished your Editor Talk playlist and, as a writer, I thank you. The videos are insightful and I promise to keep an eye out for a reboot or similar series. Good job, Mollie.

My favorite magical realism read that is a fairly recent read was "Lily and the Octopus". Wasn't expecting magical realism in the book, and was pleasantly surprised when it happened and it totally worked!

I am TERRIBLY interested in what Christian Fiction is. Is it like, Hallmark channel for books? Is it more theologically driven? Or is it just Christian standards (lacking language/violence/sexuality)? I would investigate for myself, but lol, I don't want to.

LOL. To be honest, I'm not really sure. Modern Christian fiction is what really gets me; there seems to be a lot of cliches. Instead of telling original stories of faith, they sometimes rely on "Christian values" as you mentioned, but sometimes in a damaging way. The Christian fiction I have enjoyed are stories that focus on Christian themes without forcing conversion stories, but rather depict what it's like to wrestle with the challenges of living as a Christian, et cetera. Also, stories that make you THINK about your theological standpoint. I haven't read Screwtape Letters yet, but everyone tells me I would love it. Maybe that's the kind of Christian fiction I'd be interested in?

These were great questions by your followers! (And responses from you, Mollie!) I add my vote to the editing content-I've really appreciated your candid input in them.
I'm leaving my first RUclips comment ever because I wanted to say I agreed that "Christian Fiction" can be somewhat a mysterious and disappointing genre (it is to me). One author whose books I'm in favor of (besides, yes, C.S. Lewis!), however, is Terri Fivash. I'm biased because she's a member of the denomination I've been raised in, but I really do think her books are quality (and can be a blessing, if you're inclined).
She's written books about prominent Bible characters almost in a historical fiction way, staying as true to the Bible and culture as possible. She has great author's notes included. I read Joseph years ago and have more recently read the first of her David series. I recommend them, particularly if you're already familiar with the characters and open to understanding their stories in a more full way. (Do hyperlinks show up here? As a test, here's her first David book on Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/book/show/3678398-yahweh-s-chosen.)
Keep up the great content, Mollie. -Chris

Chris! I'm delighted that you decided to leave a comment-especially for some decent Christian fiction recs! I'm absolutely going to check out Terri Fivash! Her books sound exactly like what I've been looking for! And thanks for all the kind words and encouragement, as always
