Great tutorial but still my gimble did not move smooth with the object and drove me nuts... Then I noticed the gimble goes into lock mode after selecting the object you want to track with the zhiyun play app. If you change this to follow on you're gimble it will move smooth with the object. Don't know if this helps or is already obvious but it drove me nuts 🤗

It did have a red inner circle one time and the tracking worked... but Most of the time, I have 2 white circles, a inner and a outer and the tracking won't work. Anybody got a solution?

I've just tried it myself, the tracking on the phone app is quite bad. If you move from right to left, it tracks the object just fine, but if you move from left to right, the tracking completely messes up

Nice tutorial, i've got some issues with my iphone 6s. It says option only available in landscape mode. So i have to turn my iphone around to 180° and then mosly it works. My question is at which follow speed you are running the gimbal? I've testet the walking preset. If the preset is to slow, the tracked object doesent stay in the middle. If the tracking is to fast, like the "sports" preset, my gimbal makes some strange movements (left to right to left to right)

Also how do you properly balance your crane 2 before shooting accurately with your phone and phone mount on top as there isn't room with the phone/phone mount attached to rotate to the instructed angles to balance? I'd like to know the same! Any luck? just can't get the main rig to balance perfectly with the phone mounted on top precisely like in the video. Desperately waiting for an alternate solution to this or even better a firmware for sony cameras to get this done with the camera itself !
You should be fine if you make sure that you have the object you want to track in the center of the screen in the app. The app doesn't even know where you have pointed your main camera to. It will only do its best to keep the tracked object in the middle of the screen within the app using the phone camera. It sends instructions to the gimbal motors based on the movement of that object in relation to the phone. So it is best practice to frame both cameras to have the object in the middle before drawing the bounding box. That means you sometimes need to make small adjustments to the position of the phone in the holder in relation to the main camera. It depends mostly on the distance to the object. And yes, the balancing is more of a challenge. You will not get it perfect for all axes/motors, as you have limited motion with the phone on top. It will work though but also will put more strain on the motors and therefor consumes more battery power.
Hey! What can I do, when the focal length of my phone is much wider than the lense i've got on the camera? the following doesnt work properly then as the objectives are still in the view of the phone but out of the view of the camera... does anyone know?
I've got an answer for you. Reverse the adjustment order (do base, vertical, then horizontal). Take the phone off when you're doing the horizontal adjustment so it can fit, and just roughly estimate the amount you need to overbalance to compensate. Keep making small adjustments until you get there. It's a bit of a pain but only takes a few extra minutes!
hey chung, ive basically got the exact same set up but im having trouble figuring out how to balance the set up when the phone is on top... doing it without the phone was simple enough but when i put the phone on i cant seem to figure out how to balance it
if you get the handle attachment from simply gimbal, you can move your mount to the bottom of the gimbal handle. best $60 investment cuz you can attach your screen mics, lights etc and don't have to sacrifice addding weight

You will need an assistant though, to draw the tracking box around you on your phone screen. Quite a challenge to do by yourself, being both in front of the phone camera and behind the phone to see and draw on the screen at the same time. ;-)
Chung's on my crane plus when when I select the object( any object to track) the crane starts to move the camera upwards no matter what...all the way you camera lens pointing up the ceiling.. I dont know why. What's am I doing wrong or is there some issue??

Hey, managed to set up our gimbal and camera exactly as you have in the video. The only difference is we can't seem to get the box around the tracking subject. It only allows us to tap the object so it's a bit hit and miss about whether it's locked onto the right subject. Is the red selection box something you added in post to show the tracked area or does that appear on the app?

App got timelapse functions and would be possible to do hyperlapse with it also. But Tracking with timelapse or hyperlapse is said is possible but hard to find something slow enough to track when doing timelapse.
Just got this ZY Play app to track with my iphone X somewhat with a green box. The box kept getting lost with well lit subject and gimbal gets sent into L mode without moving. The gimbal also had to be added with a slightly different way from yours. So basically it is useless.

I can´t connect the phone to the camera. I open the app, and syncro with the crane, but I dont understad how the camera conect with the phone... Because it is not a cable between the camera and the crane... and the app not recognize my camera...
I understand that the cell phone isn't transmitting data to the camera or anything. But I don't understand how the camera can get the proper picture when the cell phone is several inches above it. Wouldn't the object be at the top of the frame in the camera or off the screen entirely? I can see how it would work or something like a building because you could aim it higher than you really wanted. But what about something like a moving person?
Does this tracking work on Sony A7 with Crane 2? I thought that only Canon is supported in this respect, but I see you are using Panasonic, so I'm surprised.
Lock mode just locked up all axis so it does not turn only useful when you just want to walk a straight line, this tracks and object and keeps it in the middle of the shots when you walk around it.
Chungdha, I noticed there wasn't a lot of up and down movement when you walked. I was wondering how are you able to keep the gimbal at a constant height so well? I assume you are using warp stabilizer and shooting at 60fps or higher as well? Thanks for the video.
You need to practise walking the walk as most people misconception of both steadicams and gimbals just can walk normally but both need to learn to walk smoothly to avoid the up down movements, I have been using steadicams for years and learn to walk smoothly over a long time.
tried tracking a simple object in room to test and then the crane went crazy, as if it went blind and lost all sense of awareness. Has this ever happened on first setup? is something not calibrated correctly?
I’ve tried to give it a second shot 2 years later and still experiencing the same issue as you. My highlight box is yellow too and not red like in the video so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

nope because there no proper USB control port but just plain simple remote trigger port to take photo or start stop record.

no stabilize, you might want to adjust your motor setting or check balance ic all angles is well balanced as possible.

those mode got nothing to do with tracking just motor strenght setting. Tracking only usefull for slow movements not for fast moving objects.

Your phone must be mounted ontop of the camera

So the tracking is actually kept the focus locked to that even if GH5 is set to manual focus or GH5 is set to AF on with ZONE ?
Tracking does not do anything to the GH5, just only control movements of the gimbal.

YanSuperman I also use a note 4 and tried it on the LG g6 as well. Same problem, smooth from right to left, jerky from left to right.

Yes but because limited weight might be hard to balance your phone on your camera with the Crane M

Hi very interesting...how is it different from lock mode ?
Lock mode just locked up all axis so it does not turn only useful when you just want to walk a straight line, this tracks and object and keeps it in the middle of the shots when you walk around it.
Chungdha, I noticed there wasn't a lot of up and down movement when you walked. I was wondering how are you able to keep the gimbal at a constant height so well? I assume you are using warp stabilizer and shooting at 60fps or higher as well? Thanks for the video.
You need to practise walking the walk as most people misconception of both steadicams and gimbals just can walk normally but both need to learn to walk smoothly to avoid the up down movements, I have been using steadicams for years and learn to walk smoothly over a long time.

tried tracking a simple object in room to test and then the crane went crazy, as if it went blind and lost all sense of awareness. Has this ever happened on first setup? is something not calibrated correctly?
I’ve tried to give it a second shot 2 years later and still experiencing the same issue as you. My highlight box is yellow too and not red like in the video so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Is this option also available for the DJI Ronin M?
DJI Ronin does not have this feature, right now only Zhiyun is the only company that can do this with a DSLR gimbal.

Will the footage be shaky or jittery without IBIS "on"? The reason I ask is because I have a GH5s in which doesn't have "IBIS"

@@PureVisionGFX I am trying to decide if the Crane is better than Ronin S. This Active track feature is amazing. But I have noticed smooth footage with GH5s combo with Ronin S without IBIS.
