I also want to add that chenle was a solo artist in china before sm, and also an actor. he has released three albums of his own, and starred in three movies (he also had an offer to star in the chinese version of "alone at home", but because of his schedule he had to decline). also chenle is still the youngest artist to perform at the "the golden hall of vienna" . he recently wrote that he didn't really want to sign a contract with sm, he wanted to just study and live a normal teenager's life, because he has been working since childhood. he had plans to high school in switzerland, he had many plans and suddenly everything completely changes. i still can't imagine the fear this kid had in his head then, he was fourteen when he flew to a country where he knew no one he had no idea about k-pop he didn't know korean and had never danced before. but now he is happy he chose this path and i am glad to know it. really so proud of him english is my second language and I'm sorry if i made mistakes
When I found out that Johnny was 12 and was flying back and forth by himself for 6 years until moving permanently I was so proud. It made his accomplishments so much more meaningful. Also, I wish I was that independent😭
TMI: Ten refused to sign with Starship because his mom want him to focus on his study first and graduate high school. So after he graduated, he joined SM global audition in Thailand and passed!
Fyi, Saturday Open Audition is the HARDEST audition held by SM because Lee Soo Man pick these trainees by himself. And most of them are SUPER talented, like Haechan, Jungwoo, Yoona SNSD, Taemin Shinee (if im not mistaken), Heechul Super Junior too
TVXQ are SM's senior most group who are still active, who debuted in 2003 and they are one of the most popular Kpop groups in Japan. They even rank above a lot of Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA -- who also are SM artists that are mega stars in Japan -- they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene, and most Japanese people don't even consider them foreign artists. Hence, why Yuta idolizes them and wanted to join SM, etc. (SM knows what it's doing when it comes to making it big in Japan with their Korean groups and artists, but Yuta was SM's very first Japanese Idol.) Fun fact: Yuta's "White" MV is a cover of a very popular TVXQ Japanese song. TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. They have one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas was TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 18th anniversary, and even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. Changmin/Max is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- all SM Entertainment powerhouse vocalists), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. (Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020.) U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His passion is kind of a running joke within the industry. Its one of the things he is most known for.) Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 34 and U-know is 36. They are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him.
Winwin first thought it was a scam but they kept coming back for him until he agreed after all he was going to one of the top dance schools in Beijing and a national awardee plus his legendary college entrace exam. Gotta hand it to the boys who got in via the legendary saturday auditions which i heard are the hardest auditions- Haechan and Jungwoo (other active idols Heechul from Super Junior, Yoona from SNSD, Yeri and Seulgi from Red Velvet, Taemin from Shinee), Giselle (Aespa))
i remember before johnny cleared up that he only trained in the summer, we thought he'd been in the dungeon for 9 years straight lmao. TVXQ! is the first Korean group to make it in Japan. Before them, there was the soloist BoA aka the Queen of K-Pop, also from SM. Along with SHINee, they're considered j-pop artists and chart like domestic artists. Yuta really went for it to audition for SM who'd never had a Japanese trainee before him on top of being the home of legends. TVXQ's Yunho and BoA take an active role in the training system. So Yuta's probs been told to haul ass by his idol lol. He's even gotten to interview Changmin, his TVXQ bias, and Boa on his japanese radio show. Lucas is exaggerating how much he got in by his looks compared to others lol. They'll cast on appearance and then assess whether the person is tone deaf or uncoordinated beyond saving. It's why they want young kids, so they'll have time to teach them talent.Taeyong couldn't dance or sing at all.Chanyeol and Sehun also got through auditions mostly on looks. Sometimes they'll cast on appearance, but the person turns out to have some music ability. SHINee's Jonghyun was cast on looks but then turned out to have insane vocal ability from singing in his church choir. The Dreamies are some of the ones with more experience prior to joining SM, hence debuting so young.
Yeah, companies try to cast or take in trainees when they're young (typically early teens) because the idea is the younger they are, the more teachable they can be. Plus when they're young, they have time to train before they debut. Most trainees spend a few years in training before debut (though there are trainees who debut with a few months of training and some who train for nearly a decade). So technically being accepted in to a company at age 18+ is already considered a bit on the older side since companies tend to debut idols in their late teens - early 20 (with some even younger and some older). I'm not saying this is the correct way but that's the pattern I've noticed.
Ten is such a talented people. He was also supposed to be a YG’s trainee but his parents refused. And I’m glad he is in SME now. And for TVXQ, they are legendary idols in the second generation of Kpop. Yuta and Jisung are fans of the group and Jisung even appeared in Yunho’s one of the members) solo MV. I think you should check out “Mirotic” Thanks for your reaction
Just fyi, saturday open audition is the hardest sm audition cz its lee soo man himself who chose so known as lee soman pick, till today theres only 7? Peoples that debuted from this audition, they called the elite trainee, jungwoo n haechan r 2 of them.
Ten pass YG and Starship Ent audition but his parent want him to finish high school first so he didn't join them. It's his destiny to be with SM. Hendery born in Macau. Macanese are a mixed race with Portuguese. I guess Hendery is also a mixed race.
I don't think it's right to assume Hendery is of mixed race. Macau is previously a Portuguese colony up until 1999 but the population is mostly ethnic Chinese (around 89%) with less than 2% being ethnically Portuguese. Though it is entirely possible that he does have some lineage of Portuguese in his ancestry, Hendery himself has never brought that up so I don't think it's right to make that assumption because not all Macanese people are of mixed race.
@@coolgirl312 I siad it's just a guess. My friend is a Macanese I know most of them are Chinese. There's a sergeon doctor on RUclips said it's possible because Hendery jawline looks much more like westerners.

I like the video and how informative it is but it was quite fast paced that even I myself am having trouble following it, haha I feel like she missed some things but I also missed things 😂
I think the video was only meant to be a brief explanation of how each member got in. If they went more in depth with each member, the video probably would've ended up being 3x longer. I think the assumption is, if you stick around NCT and NCTzen's long enough, you'll eventually learn more details of each member's backstory xD
When you said "What's this from" referring to the vid of Ten and Hendery- thats a "[WayVariety] Research Note". They're 4 minute long little videos in which each member introduces another members' key points in their opinion. From WayV debut era, they were a good way to get to know the new boys.
