NIWAN Civic Centre in Kampong Bharu by Ngim Yi Jing from UTAR Architecture Design Studio 6 Jan 2020

Assalamu’alaikum and Greetings everyone. Alhamdulillah... we had completed the January 2020 Architecture Design Studio 6. In this video, we’re going to look into at one of the top students in the studio 6 January 2020.
Ngim Yi Jing. Her project is located at Site 1, at the corner of Jalan Raja Abdullah and Jalan Raja Muda Musa. The project was selected as the 1st Runner Up for the UTAR Bi Annual Final Year Project Poster Competition 2020.
The title of the project is NIWAN. A Cultural based Civic Centre for Kampong Bharu. The proposal intended to add value to Kampong Bharu by creating the leisure and cultural learning platform. It serves for recreation, gathering the community, sharing and promoting Malay culture and bringing income opportunity to the residence.
In my opinion, she was successful in a way, by coming up with a program which are relevant and modern proposal yet have a tie with Kampong Bharu passed and present image of it being a Malay food hub.
A critical comment on this proposal is some of the spatial experience in the building is not fully resolved like the Multi purpose hall and the Malay Culture gallery on the ground floor.
However, all these can be further develop and resolved further. Congratulations Ngim Yi Jing! Hope this will spur her to achieve more success in the future.

Sbg rakyat biasa (yg takde apa2 kepandaian senibina), aku tak nampak mana ciri2 Melayunya😂
Cer letak senibina bumbung melayu melaka mcm kebanyakan rumah kt kampung baru, why not🤔
But still, tang mana malay islamic element nya?

Kita kena galak kan lebih ramai belajar mengenai senibina untuk merialisasikan aspirasi rakyat biasa seperti tuan. Projek dalam video ini hanyalah interpritasi pelajar tahun 3 mengenai pemahaman beliau tentang senibina yang sesuai. Ianya bukan sahaja di nilai dari faktor tampak fizikal, tetapi juga penyediaan program dan ruang.
