I hope you all enjoyed this video - let me know what you all think.
If I missed a project or have any other idea for a video - let me know in the comment section below
As a frontend dev who likes to try different stuff I absolutely love Go, my go-to (pun intended) for advent of code this year btw
hell yeah
Maybe a little less known project, but getting some tracktion recently: Ollama. It's like docker for LLM models. Cool stuff.
Go is the GOAT is what I’m hearing
Great video, as always 🎉
Appreciate that
Cilium, Taskfile and Terraform are tools I use daily which are written in Go.
Hell yeah
I am currently starting my go project. I hope it's going to make that list one day
When it does - Ill make a video on it
Great vid + cam quality! What camera do you use?
Appreciate it. I use Lumix G
I've been using Go for a month and it's the best language ever. Very enjoyable, contrary to common belief. Thanks for the video.
Hell yeah
I will write a Rust compiler in Go 😌
as a software engineer in spring boot, I really want to develop strong backend in go lang
Melkey what is internet ??
The entire hashicorp family...
Hashicorp is Go confirmed
Wow, I did not know these projects were made with Go, that's super interesting! Still learning Go myself, but I decided to do AoC (my first time participating) with Go. Other than that, I started writing a small app that help me sync my dotfiles, but that one is in it's very early stages.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@MelkeyDevOh absolutely, really liking it so far! Nice break from TypeScript and the likes ;)
I didn't know that esbuild was written in go. I'm seeing a lot of javascript tools being rewritten with rust instead of go. What should be the main motivation besides the hype? 🤔
Yep!
Caddy is also written in Go.
I didnt know that!
Terraform is a heavy-weight written in Go.
Tech with Tim just called my grandma and asked her to transfer $850 because she missed her last Microsoft Support Payment
Nomand consul vault even grafana support go as plugin.
I have too many languages on my plate: Rust, Go, Zig, Clojure, OCaml, Nim. I wanna learn them all but I am stupid 😭
Pick one!
Go with Rust
Go with Rust
Go with Rust
Go with Rust@@kenzo3477
rsync in go shows that its possible to leave c behind
Yes
Gitea would be an honorary mention as well
I gotta check it out
@MelkeyDev It's an open source git server written in go and vue for the frontend, I think. Just one binary(although > 100MB), no dependencies
Great Video
Thank you Pocketmayo
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Prometheus, Loki and tons of opensource tools driving observability all around the globe
Love this thank you
Traefik is the reason im learning Go.
ITs amazing
i can't explain why but i really like Go. i guess it kinda makes me feel like i'm writing C but it's got a sprinkling of python flakes on it
Let's not forget that Deno was built in Rust😂
Though it was initially implemented in Go at the time when it was announced. They switched to Rust very soon after.
Do you know why they switched?@@_____case
@@Aedaeum My guess would be for all of the typical reasons why people choose Rust:
- Lower memory footprint
- Better performance
- Has a Foundation, rather than being controlled by a single company.
In general, a language like Go that has a substantial runtime environment on its own should probably not be used to implement language runtimes or operating systems.
@@_____case thanks for that breakdown! It makes sense that you don't want extra overhead for critical systems.
All love here all the time
Should have shown Ethereum (Geth) instead the 4th one
Why not both? Thanks for the suggestion
😂No matter wat, Go will never get into Linux kernel like Rust
How many developers are hacking on OS kernels though?
About to make a pr and an email
@@_____caseMore people use JS than Go, does it mean JS is better than Go?
No language with Garbage collector will.
