@ The existing tariff hasn’t dampened Chinese exports, adding another 10% won’t do much either, especially considering the 25% added to Canada and Mexico would give Chinese exports a relative advantage. It’s just going to be absorbed by the U.S. consumers, which means inflation.

Tariffs are a tax on American businesses that import goods from foreign nations. Donald Trump's trade wars with China resulted in a U.S. trade deficit of $679 billion. During Donald Trump's presidency, the U.S. bankruptcy rate increased 8%. Farm bankruptcies increased 20%. The U.S. economy shed 2.9 million jobs, including 1.4 million in manufacturing.

@@jediv9910that’s exactly how it works you do realise it’s not China that’s paying the tariffs it’s the American businesses that import Chinese goods that in turns increases the price for American consumers. @@jediv9910Why do American businessmen import from China.. Cheaper prices, right ? If you import from another country, which definitely will cost higher, you'll end up with higher prices for customers. Either way, bad for customers. Inflation.
US ban chips sales to China, means less revenues for US, more defisit. China hit back by importing less farm produce, refusing import of US mature chips, straining the already deficit trade between them.
Refusing China to purchase lands, invest in US. Why in the world would China own USD ? China dumps it's US reserve from 1.3T to 750B, putting more pressure to the US. Btw, With the BRICS coming up, the future doesn't look promising for USD hegemony. We'll, the trade war cycles goes on. Who wins ? None. Why trade war in the first place ?

Nobody credits Biden for it for no apparent reason but they really like the result. He built back American factories and slowed China's military progress by decades using the CHIPS bill. Then increase 1% per year. At 11% and 2030 Mexico could be conceivably outbidding China. My 2 cents…. US industries that would go to rebuilding countries like Halliburton etc etc. use them to BUILD and help stable manufacturing techniques. Truck driving jobs and on land cargo showed to be one of the highest unaffected jobs during Covid and that intrastate commerce would be tremendous. Even build electric cargo train running south and North. My two cents…

Global demand is affordable high quality goods. You will need to invest in less effective supply chain to satisfy needs of one country. Any time this country may change tariffs and you loose all your investnents. This is very risky investment. I eould rather invest in the most competetive producer and sell my goods to the rest of the world.
