A Weird Tale of the New York subway, and the gruesome things with dead-white eyes burrowing up beneath the unsuspecting city. Award Winning Makeup FX Artist Ed French narrates another nightmare tale! - Развлечения
As a former NYC daily subway commuter who often looked down into the dark tunnels, I have always loved this story! Great reading, Edward! Thanks
That's a strange kind of love. I worked on a films called "C.H.U.D." and "Breeders" shot in some of the abandoned NYC subway stretches. Very spooky places! E.E.F.
@@FrenchEdward06 waiting on the subway platform, late at night, no one about, those two big open dark mouths at either end of the platform- it's not just the muggers who make you a little nervous....
ooh I remember C.H.U.D.! Scared me to death...pretty cool that you worked on it😊🙏🏼
I loved the narrator’s change in tone when he asks “what are you staring at?” You can hear his dread as he realizes his guest has noticed how inhuman he has become. Brilliant.
I heard that a painter up in Boston in the 1920s made a number of ghoulish paintings with a fair likeness of these things. Alas his name escapes me… Rick ?Rich? Somebody help me out here…..😂
Pickman?
Boston’s great painter : Richard Upton Pickman
Clive Barker's The Midnight Meat Train comes to mind.
Yes. Mr. Barker may have been inspired by this. Incidentally, I worked as a Makeup FX Artist on the film Midnight Meat Train and C.H.U.D. also reminiscent of "Far Below." And of course H.G. Wells covered this (under) ground with "The Time Machine." Cheers. E.E.F.
It's showing for free on Prime Video, i think. I wasn't going to watch it, sounded too gory. But now i might have to sine you had a hand in it. 😊 @FrenchEdward06
@@FrenchEdward06 The work of your makeup FX team on Midnight Meat Train succeeded in its putrid ghastliness, let me tell you. Drippy, sloppy, raw and wet. With such a title, of course, I should have known better, yet I was transfixed between my outspread fingers right through to the unspeakable :) end.
Can't wait to give this one a listen. Saving it for later tonight.
Oh Yes! A personal favourite of mine. Thank God it's Saturday night again and another Mr French Masterwork.
YEEEES!! One of my favorite stories, featuring one of my favorite monsters.
Fantastic performance of one of my favorite weird tales👍👍
Thank you, Mr French, as always. 😊🇬🇧
Most popular story from Weird Tales!
Weird Tales are such a great place to find hidden gems.
@@reikenkayzer HorrorBabble narrates a lot from Weird Tales.
@@martywood8543 I am aware. Sadly, I'm not the biggest fan of Ian's narrations. It's a shame, since they have such a great collection of stories.
@@reikenkayzer Understood. I like Ian's narrations, however, E.E.F. is my favorite.
@@martywood8543 Yeah, based on the comments I see, I think Ian is very polarizing.
Thank you Sir. Ben in UK
Excellent narration; as always, Mr. French.👍💟✌
Appreciate you tuning in and turning us on! E.E.F.
Thanks for your usual excellent rendition of this gruesome tale.
You paint a picture with your words Mr French. I so look forward to your readings
I WISH they were my words, but I know what you mean and appreciate you tuning in each week. E.E.F.
It reminds me of the naive Eloi, living right above the cannabilistic Morlocks in H.G. Wells' _The Time Machine._ 🤔
Great stuff Herr French !! Think I heard it this one from Michael Hanson or Ian Gordon once ... but your take is always much more immersive and exotic ... Thanks again and please keep doing what you do ! You are a king in this genre !!
Thanks amigo! I trust you are a member of the Fiction Fantastique "Evil Army of the Night" (listener/subscribers). E.E.F.
You worked on CHUD as a makeup FX artist. I really like that movie.
Great story, loved listening to you.
Hi, Edward French! I see you have chosen one of my favorite ultra weird stories. I know you are going to body slam it. You do creepy soooooo well. It would be stinkin' awesome if you and Jasper L'Estrange could collaborate on something just as unnerving as Far Below. This one has made wonder "what if..." since I first read it. Thank you very, very much 😊 😨😰😱🙃🙂
I don't know Jasper L'Edtrange, but I'm here to learn. "Body slam " is a good analogy for what I attempt to hammer home with these little audio creepy delights. E.E.F.
@@FrenchEdward06 You did great, Mr. French, as usual. Thanks again for this special surprise 😁
Ooooh this is gonna be great! 💜
Thank you.
Saw a version of this tale on Tales from the Dark Side or Monsters. Jackie Cooper was the main character.
Wow!
WOW!
Chicago’s El is looking better all the time.
Awesome. ❤
Thank you, this is one of my all time favorites! 🐺
there is a slight hint of peter cushing in the narration well read good story enjoyed it thanks
That's the first time I heard that compliment. Cheers. E.E.F. .
The series, Monsters did an adaption of this story.
