      @@d4n737 I am inclined towards the sound coming from a non-living source. If it were from a living creature that is bigger than the blue whale by a few times, there are a number of conditions that needs to be met. First, it would almost certainly be a fish. Any other kinds of vertebrates would have to surface to breath and be observed by now. Next, it would have to (or at least for a sustaintial time) exist in multiple numbers to reproduce, which means they should have made the same noise more frequently than (if I am not mistaken) that single detection in 1997. Then there needs to be sufficient food to fuel its life, and it would likely be a non-meat eater, because we should see indrect signs of beached whales or any other kinds of animals fighting this unknown animal, and so it should be like the blue whales that eat simply planktons, but still if they are at an undocumented scale, they would probably have depleted the planktons a lot more than it now is, in order for them to be in sufficient number to meet one another in the ocean to reproduce perpetually.

    " Robert Dziak, from NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Lab, told Insider via email that by 2011 - after gathering all the data - the agency was able to definitively explain what the bloop was.
    The official ruling: It was the sound of an icequake, created by the cracking of an ice shelf as it broke up from an Antarctic glacier.
    The "sounds of ice breaking up and cracking is a dominant source of natural sound in the southern ocean," Dziak told Wired in 2012. "

    My theory is it was the explosion of a WWII torpedo that was resting on a ledge and slipped, setting off the fuse. When you consider the total number of torpedoes fired by all players from subs and destroyers--and the number of hits compared to the far greater number of misses--it's just a foregone conclusion that one of these things is bound to go off at some point.

    This mystery always fascinated me for how people weren't able to figure out what produced it, but this was until I have read a science article finally ending the mystery of "The Bloop Sound."
    I will give the full explanation here but it is veey long, so I hope I won't bore you : )
    --------------------------------
    So, It wasn't until 2005, when NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) embarked on an acoustical survey of the Antarctic off of South America, that scientists began to understand the bloop's origins.
    Robert Dziak, from NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Lab, told Insider via email that by 2011 - after gathering all the data - the agency was able to definitively explain what the bloop was.
    The official ruling: It was the sound of an icequake, created by the cracking of an ice shelf as it broke up from an Antarctic glacier.
    The icebergs that generated the bloop most likely were between Antarctica's Bransfield Straits and the Ross Sea, or Cape Adare, according to NOAA.
    Icequakes occur when glaciers fracture in the ocean, cracking ice. The sudden cracking produces a loud pop or booming sound. With climate change, NOAA warns that icequakes are becoming more common.
    Rising global temperatures melt glacial ice, creating water that can freeze again to cause an icequake.
    --------------------------------
    If you think that the sound can't travel a very long distance, you are wrong (no, really). In water, the particles are much closer together because it is denser than the air, and they can quickly transmit vibration energy from one particle to the next. This means that the sound wave travels over four times faster than it would in air, but it takes a lot of energy to start the vibration. A faint sound in air wouldn’t be transmitted in water as the wave wouldn’t have enough energy to force the water particles to move.

    Maybe it could be the ice but there still remains the possibility that it is of animal origin. I’m not saying sea monsters, people are so quick to assume it’s the leviathan or Cthulhu but what if it was some very interesting and remarkable animal, I mean that would be incredible. After all we still don’t know all about our ocean, we’ve only explored 5% of it, who knows what could be in our ocean. I don’t know if I believe in sea monsters but I’m down to believe that there could be some very incredible animal living down there, maybe more.

    • @CheePufStudios
      @CheePufStudios 2 года назад +3

      @sullyrulezz3191 2 года назад +1

      @@CheePufStudios but do you know that for sure? Can you say that as an absolute fact that there is only water out there? You can’t be so quick to deny that something could be in the vast unexplored ocean. Again, I’m not saying there’s gonna be freaking sea monsters or krakens or whatever. I’m just saying the possibility exists of there being something new in nature. Though I understand if you feel the possibility isn’t worth considering but just know whether you think there is or isn’t, the possibility is there. We won’t know for sure until we actually reach the unexplored areas and completely search them. It’ll likely take a long to explore the entire ocean.

    • @10054
      @10054 6 месяцев назад

      What we can say for sure is that it's not from animal origin. Any animal capable of producing that noise must be extremely large. And I mean *very* large. To the point where it could not have possibly fed itself enough food to survive for more than a day. An animal that large would be easily detectable. Just because something is unexplored doesn't mean we can't see it. Our sonars and radars would have 100% detected a creature of that magnitude.
      Besides, even if the creature did exist and produced that sound, it would have ripped itself apart. There is *so* much energy in a 5000km ranging noise that its point of origin is so catastrophically energetic that it would be comparable to a nuclear bomb.

    One thing a few suggest is that it could have been a large ice asteroid, say a hundred feet across, entering the atmosphere hitting the ocean and exploding on impact, near point nemo. With the closest humans being over 2500 miles away, no one would have seen it explode especially if it occurred in daylight. Also the sound wave energy would not have traveled very far in the atmosphere as the curvature of the earth and the open expanses of water would have absorbed much of the blast before it could reach any meaningful microphones on land. Plus this was 1997, we weren't really tracking or recording phenomenon over the southern pacific at all as satellite cameras were still limited and nothing of value is in the southern pacific, so a rock that size and its impact could have easily been missed by militaries and NASA. The bloop sound was likely the cavetation bubble that formed from a superheated ball of ice sublimating instantly into steam and then collapsing back on itself.

    The sound actually sounds like what they concluded it was. I wonder what took them so long to figure it out.

    And then they realize that that noise was really just the sound of a collapsing glacier hitting the ocean
