My dad passed away late 2020, this was one of his favourite films of all time, I love watching the reactions of people watching the films he loved which he passed on to me, he always said to me we are all connected to each other no matter where on the planet we may be in some way or another, I miss you dad, love the video bro all the best to you
My old man was a French Canadian who was as white as dry toast with no jam or butter. He joined the military in the early 60's and on his first leave he took a bus to Chicago to see electric blues bands in black clubs. The idea of race never really occurred to him and he said he was the only white guy in these places. Years later the Blue Brothers movie came out and I don't know how many times we all watched it. Every time Cab Calloway sang Minnie the Moocher pops would stand up and start slinking across the living room floor like he was Calloway while my mother would bark at him to sit his fool ass down. Good parenting on the part of your father to introduce you to this music.
I saw this film when it first came out. Some critics complained that Aretha Franklin should have sung R-E-S-P-E-C-T instead. However, she did sing it in the sequel "Blues Brothers 2000."
Aretha could not, for the life of her, lip-sync the song's recording for the scene. You can see the difference between her actually singing it for the takes and the recording.
The Queen
Imagine being in the presence of The Queen of Soul. Mind blowing.
That woman's voice was pure magic.
Unlike no other!!! 💯

RIP to my dad aged 90, who also loved this movie. He must've watched it 50 times.

Queen of Queens
Such a Great movie. Aretha as always is impeccable.
Except when it came to paying taxes....she's very overrated.
@@uofm4life735 and your point?
Always seems ok when major corporations avoid their taxes. The lady has now passed a little respect might be in order.
React to the entire movie. Lots of fabulous soul greats in this. James Brown as the minister must be witnessed!
Wow, I didn't realize how long this performance was. She definitely got the longest performance of the movie outside the BBros...
The lady in the red striped shirt was Arethas sister Carolyn. She passed away from cancer.
