As a queer non-binary MSW myself, I LOVE the exploration of mental health issues in Heartstopper. My area of expertise is intimate partner violence, and for me, the way it portrays dating abuse and bullying AND the aftermath of those experiences for Charlie, as well as many, many other issues for all of the main characters, and ways to better cope with those issues. And even just how they communicate being open and honest and trusting one another is such a necessary message for young people to learn from, AND for the adults in their lives to learn from. It's such a brilliant, beautiful, meaningful piece of media that is also a warm hug of queer joy in television format.
