+elizabeth tresCosas True, most of us don't have the *choice* of rejecting our 6-figure job or even the luck/connections/skills to build hit websites, but this talk (even though it too is self-promotional) left me feeling that his heart ultimately is in the right place.
It turned into an infomercial for insanely overpriced “minimalist” bs. That you need to buy.🙄 Oh, and airbnb. Nothing wrong with THAT business model. Also is there something wrong with his eyes? He’s kinda got Rudy-face.
I always thought of simple life ,but deep down talking to myself that I was the only one and that I was crazy ,but now I know that this is on very human nature, and we push ourselves to buy stuff and as a result spend more time worrying and on the job then enjoying what we have thanks everyone.
I had the same feeling overcoming me, I just wanted one day my atic to be empty and didn't know why. I eBayed shit, Craiglisted shit. and donated and felt sooooo much better. Watch less Tel Lie Vision, that's how they impregnate your subconscious into belief that you need more.
Loved the presentation..life can be so simple and happy and yet we, human beings, are forgetting what really matters - it's the experiences ( not stuffs ) !!
It's all about consumerism and corporate greed. The more you buy, the more you stay indebted to those who need to live a lavish lifestyle with you being the provider. Especially here in America. Everything is designed to keep you pulling from your bank acct. Servitude is a multi faced dragon.
Love the microphone cheek tape. Interesting message. Great t-shirt, also. Yeah, McMansions and Garage Mahals! America - the land of mind-boggling excess!
I like the thin towels you showed. Where can I find something like that? I'm tired of the BIG BULKY towels that take up the whole washer....but we need towels that are absorbent :) Great video! We have downsized BIG TIME when we moved from Ohio to Florida a few years ago. We were on 10 acres, ranch with basement, pole barn, shed, etc...now we live in small ranch on 1/4 acre. Life is so much easier...less work, less stress & more affordable.
+Swaying With The Palm Trees ... there is a reason you have 10 acres, ranch, pole barn, and a shed, and it is not to have less work lol. It is to survive as independently as you can... I commend you on being happy where you are... but it's not for everyone. Keep that in mind.
Need more info about the products mentioned. I'm sure a lot of us would love those apartment designs & architecture & products, but I'm willing to bet that they cost more than most people can afford.
To everyone who commented that this guy is privileged, my take away is that it’s more powerful when someone is privileged and makes the intelligent decision to simplify vs someone who does not have the choice. Additionally, majority of his audience is privileged and it’s the privileged segment of the population whom can benefit greatly from his message.
this is impressive... but he is still showing a BUNCH of stuff (probably very expensive) I need to purchase to become a minimalist, when all I want to, and have been doing, is reduce the amount of stuff I own
+saúl cobián That's the great thing about minimalism, you don't have to buy ANYTHING to be a minimalist. It's a personal thing. Just because someone needs or gets value from something doesn't mean you're required to buy it.
WE HAVE MANSIONS ? What do you mean we have mansions ? Where do you get those mansions ? Do the government deliver them ? Can we order them ? How can I get one of those mansion then ? Do you know how I can order them. What do you mean with WE. Who are those WE ? We have way more spaces , then we used to ? What is exactly he is talking about. What is we ??
Think about it. In 1987 average home was 1700 square fee, now 2400? why, because many insists on getting more and more stuff. Much of which ends up in closest, garage or storage. We also find many more in debt up to their ears, which we blame on government. Meanwhile people who continue to live more frugal lifestyles, seem to have fared quite well. Hymm.. I learned don't need to have fanciest phone, car, get caught up fashion trends or other stuff that is brained into us to buy.
You travel around the world, share the experience, enjoy every moment, free as a bird away from the rat race... And then she leaves you just like that. 90% of Chicks will always need a comfortable nest (tents and tiny huts are not good enough).
+Ashley Burton I wanted too and I started my journey a few months ago by getting rid of clutter things I do not use or never used for that matter for example I got rid of all of my books, music Cd's, magazines, articles, DVD movies, and DVD games and went digital by buying 2 external had drives and tablet so now I no longer need a book shelve for all of those things plus got rid of the magazine racks and bookmarks etc see it starts small but it makes a huge difference :)
Does anyone ever ask what the meaning of their life is? Millions of hollow people filling their lives with stuff so they don't have to think about anything really important. About that Eames lounger and ottoman -- you can get one for "just $4500 to $5000!" (16:50)
I stopped at 8.00.......This is just bragging about how awesome his life is. Another tree hugger traveling the world on aircraft that burn more fuel than most cars use in a life time but do as I say and not as I do. Hypocrite telling you all how to live but please go to his websit and spend more money so you can live like I he does!!!!

I agree with the over all message, but man, this guy is so privileged.

You are absolutely right there is a great lecture about it that fund it's called ( curse of the consumer society) thanks .
Loved the presentation..life can be so simple and happy and yet we, human beings, are forgetting what really matters - it's the experiences ( not stuffs ) !!
Graham Hill is my hero. He is a daily inspiration for me. I am also in love with him, but, sadly, he doesn't even know I exist. I can live with that.

*Part of happiness is having enough...not too little but not too much*
Great ideas Graham, really inspirational.
This was so inspiring! I like the mix of fact, tech, ecology and heart.

11:33-11:40 This is a sad fact of today.
...
We get more happiness from our experiences than we do from our stuff!

+Phyllis Coppolino ... it's not what you know. It's who you know. Not everyone has friends like Rothschild.
Wish we could see the pictures he is taking about & showing on the screen...

"Greed" it's such a wonderful thing !
Lovely video!

I love the concept but for a family I like the Béa Johnson example. thanks for this!
I loving this channel :)
what a great trend to start, cause its opposite of everything we trend towards
clean and neat is respectful to other people
You need money to even be able to do what this guy did. The luxury of choice is a rich persons privilege.
As soon as I started watching this, I thought this.
Love this!!
Well done, well said...

It's simple. We keep "adding on" then wonder why we're crawling out of our skin .

I live in a bigger house because I had a good deal on it. I don't fill it and I love the eco I get! 🤣🤣

I bet it hurt when he took that tape off his face.

06:22 David de Rothchild ...
Says it all.
Didn't he win Monaco a couple of times....
You made me so jealous. I hate that.
Thank you for that. I really need a push.
these "young" people of whom travel all over the globe must have some sort of under ground tunnel to fort knox. just sayin.
I have no stuff. I have no space. I have no home. I would be happy to trade my simple life for a place to live. With my Stuff.
+joqatana Ha !! So true ! One can go too far ...indeed.
+joqatana I hope you are able to get to the right size for yourself soon. Stay strong!
Fucking hell, every sentence is spoken with a questioning intonation...
wow you need lots of money to do that....

"Courtney Love" is nothing to brag about.
plutoplatters - Moral: the guy who bought useless stuff for Courtney Love could inadvertently convince this guy he doesn’t need stuff.
Om pure white and
He likes to talk a lot about him-self... not about the subject
income has not risen for decades. not for the middle class.
Digital books and pictures do not compare to the actual physical ones.
How to become a minimalist : start with 500k in the bank. Good luck, people !
fewer. fewer stuff, not less
I, I, I ... fell asleep such a cliche'
