The real success of Heartland was and still is the Amy and Ty love story. The dating in season 17 especially Amy's relationship with Nathan is simply the writers attempt to keep the storyline interesting, and not boring. I believe if Ty comes back to the show Heartland will continue with Ty, Amy and Lindy together again. If he doesn't return the writers will conclude the series with Amy unable to accept another(not just because Ty can't be replaced} because of her continuing strong love and feelings for Ty. She will conclude that her peace and happiness is with her as a single mother raising Lindy in the manner Ty would have wanted. In my opinion, because we had 14 years of this remarkable love story, whereby the viewers got to intimately know Ty, it makes it nearly impossible to erase him from the viewers minds and on a larger scale future Heartland seasons
Oh come on it's to soon for a match with Amy and Nathan, it needs to grow slowly if it's going to last. Look at lou you've had her jumping around when she should have stayed with Scott like It was originally written now she can't make up her mind she's divorced now so for gosh sakes leave it that way with no more love scenes with that looser, write Peter out. Mitch is a much better match for her than Peter, but Scot is the one and was written in the book as the one, let's keep it that way and try to follow the book more, that's why it became popular in the first place it was written as life, get back to the book
I think Nathan is a good, solid person, and his good character (which was shown in Lou's flashback of when she was a teenager, and Nathan was so sweet and kind, and came to her rescue in her time of need) will continue to reveal more of who he actually is as time passes. We will see some unexpected (good) surprises unfold in Season 18 and hopefully beyond. It is time for Amy to grow in love again, and not waste another day without sharing her life in love and partnership with the right man. Ty was a good man, who loved his wife and daughter very much. He would not want for them to live the rest of their lives without experiencing the joy, blessing, and covering of having someone of quality (which more and more will soon be revealed in Nathan) to care for them. As communitive as both Ty and Amy were in their relationship, I cannot imagine them not discussing the subject matter of remarriage IF one of them should die before the other. After all, they did choose Caleb & Cass as their Godparents, and IF anything should happen to both Ty & Amy, Caleb & Cass would love, and raise Lindy as their own.

Those words would say alot to me the direction I would take! Unless Amy is a lier!!! Hmmm! She is a Fleming!! I can't speak for other countries but in Canada 76% of widows with children between the ages of 35-45 do not re-marry ! (Women & men) Had a Federal person find that stat! LoL!! So fake show or real life I will support that ! Makes total sense! Your children are first and foremost and in the Heartland fake show taking interest in a guy 7 years older is just ridiculous!!
