I always look forward to your reactions which are so genuine from your heart. I have following Amira for 6 years. It started when I was diagnosed with serious bi-polar depression. God, family, friends and especially Amira’s GOD Given Voice were the primary therapy for my full recovery! Here are 4 classics of many I would like to suggest: “Ave Maria” at age 11 in a duet; “My Way” with Amira’s 8 friends, an unbelievable instrumental and vocal arrangement; “Amazing Grace” note her holding her last note for 6 seconds!; finally, Amira sings, “How Great Thou Are”.
Brilliant reaction. Sorry about the health issues! In the film , Eidleweiss is sung by a male, Christopher Plummer (?) Climb every mountain by an elderly nun. Whatever Amira sings, she always manages to give it her own distinctive stamp, which carries it beyond the norm. Someone else reacting to Amira, pointed out that being at the front of the stage, she hasn't got the conductor in her eyeline, and has to rely on her ear for the progress of the music. Hi BP's, I am so glad you acknowledge music that is amazing. Similar to you l came across Amira by chance as the 9 yo in Holland's got talent and when she began singing, the tears just flowed, listen to Amira most days and my appreciation for Opera has been switched on, just by her pure voice. I particularly like her version of Nella Fantasies and Gabriella song which she sings in the hard language of Swedish. If you look at that song but by another reactor Petra who is Swedish, you look at her joy, you may be aware that since moving to South Africa, she has already set up a Foundation, where she put her own money in, so that local schools could have playgrounds and not just throw stones at one another as fun Amira is amazing

@@dafyddllewellyn6636 Dafydd. It is the old opera houses that is the problem IMO . An opera could be staged in a big venue and as you say Andre R has shown the way. I believe Amira could bring the potential audiences in worldwide you have viewed Brit Pops they are converted and they are by no means the only ones. I saw one yesterday - a heavy metal enthusiast - who quickly became appreciative of opera. Quite a feat Amira pulled of IMO her promised world tour would really and surely help this cause, opera arias with crossover, but a full Opera may not be to most tastes.
@@lesgrimwood3621 Yes, I saw that Heavy Metal fellow, commenting on A,mira's performance of La Vergine degli Angeli - which I hope Brit Pops will get to. You are correct that the traditional opera houses are a major part of the problem with traditional opera; but they are the result of the traditional opera insistence on its singers performing without amplification, which requires them to be able to produce more volume of sound, and with it, "Squillo", in order to be heard over the orchestra. So there is a whole generation of traditionally-trained opera singers whom Amira is challenging; and we've seen some pretty vicious criticism from a few of them, who cannot bear the thought of anybody who has not been "through the mill" of being even allowed to sing an operatic aria. This whole generation has to either die out or give in and adopt the new technology, before the "battle" is over - and of course, Covid is further complicating matters. And then, there is the factor that probably the majority of the opera traditionalists go to the opera houses to be seen, rather than to enjoy the performance - look at the criticism they post on RUclips. Times are changing, but I doubt that Amira wants to butt her head against the traditionalists. Have you seen Amira's interview in the "Cross-over" magazine? Or her recent South African interview (about six months ago)? She has declared herself to be a cross-over singer, who includes operatic arias in her repertoire.
I don't care how big of an orchestra you put behind her, they're not going to over power that voice. Towards the end, everyone on stage was going all out and she was over powering them. An opera singer doing a classic Broadway musical is a logical thing to do, and Amira looked like she was having fun with the medley. I'll tell you how good this was, I'm going to show this to my mother, who doesn't like anything I come up with ("It's too slow, it's not melodic. Do you really like this new music?" " Mother, this song is 60 years old" " Yes, too new") This HAS to work. It's just her kind of thing, sung by a real opera star. And the orchestra had a female percussionist, and my mom played the tympani. Wish me luck. Glad to see you looking better, BP1, don't get sick any more.

When we hear Amira sing in English, we forget it isn't her own language - she needed a translator during HGT. She probably rarely sings in Dutch. French, Italian, Latin, Swedish, Afrikaans, it's all in a day's work to her!
Eidelweiss is sung by her husband in the show, Climb Every Mountain by the MotherSuperior. The Sound of Music sounds the same pitch as Julie Andrews to me, I don’t know about Mary Martin, but she doesn’t have the same kind of voice at all.
Soon after Amira moved to SA she took part in a concert at her new school. She sang two arias. I doubt you've ever seen a school performance like it and the audience didn't even have to pay! SCHOOL CONCERT WITH AMIRA (gsacni, 2018).
Guys, I'm SO behind! 😭 I've had a batsh!t crazy few days! Work is mad and I was called in all weekend, daughter had Covid, little one had a puke party, and hubby's laid up with a bad back! Following Thomas's comments I played Julie Andrews yesterday. Compared to Amira she seemed lack lustre and boring. She certainly came nowhere near Amira in those final notes.

@@dafyddllewellyn6636 Dafydd. It is the old opera houses that is the problem IMO . An opera could be staged in a big venue and as you say Andre R has shown the way. I believe Amira could bring the potential audiences in worldwide you have viewed Brit Pops they are converted and they are by no means the only ones. I saw one yesterday - a heavy metal enthusiast - who quickly became appreciative of opera. Quite a feat Amira pulled of IMO her promised world tour would really and surely help this cause, opera arias with crossover, but a full Opera may not be to most tastes.
@@lesgrimwood3621 Yes, I saw that Heavy Metal fellow, commenting on A,mira's performance of La Vergine degli Angeli - which I hope Brit Pops will get to. You are correct that the traditional opera houses are a major part of the problem with traditional opera; but they are the result of the traditional opera insistence on its singers performing without amplification, which requires them to be able to produce more volume of sound, and with it, "Squillo", in order to be heard over the orchestra. So there is a whole generation of traditionally-trained opera singers whom Amira is challenging; and we've seen some pretty vicious criticism from a few of them, who cannot bear the thought of anybody who has not been "through the mill" of being even allowed to sing an operatic aria. This whole generation has to either die out or give in and adopt the new technology, before the "battle" is over - and of course, Covid is further complicating matters. And then, there is the factor that probably the majority of the opera traditionalists go to the opera houses to be seen, rather than to enjoy the performance - look at the criticism they post on RUclips. Times are changing, but I doubt that Amira wants to butt her head against the traditionalists. Have you seen Amira's interview in the "Cross-over" magazine? Or her recent South African interview (about six months ago)? She has declared herself to be a cross-over singer, who includes operatic arias in her repertoire.
She just melts my heart when she sings
I don't care how big of an orchestra you put behind her, they're not going to over power that voice. Towards the end, everyone on stage was going all out and she was over powering them. An opera singer doing a classic Broadway musical is a logical thing to do, and Amira looked like she was having fun with the medley. I'll tell you how good this was, I'm going to show this to my mother, who doesn't like anything I come up with ("It's too slow, it's not melodic. Do you really like this new music?" " Mother, this song is 60 years old" " Yes, too new") This HAS to work. It's just her kind of thing, sung by a real opera star. And the orchestra had a female percussionist, and my mom played the tympani. Wish me luck. Glad to see you looking better, BP1, don't get sick any more.

When we hear Amira sing in English, we forget it isn't her own language - she needed a translator during HGT. She probably rarely sings in Dutch. French, Italian, Latin, Swedish, Afrikaans, it's all in a day's work to her!

Eidelweiss is sung by her husband in the show, Climb Every Mountain by the MotherSuperior. The Sound of Music sounds the same pitch as Julie Andrews to me, I don’t know about Mary Martin, but she doesn’t have the same kind of voice at all.
Soon after Amira moved to SA she took part in a concert at her new school. She sang two arias. I doubt you've ever seen a school performance like it and the audience didn't even have to pay! SCHOOL CONCERT WITH AMIRA (gsacni, 2018).

Guys, I'm SO behind! 😭 I've had a batsh!t crazy few days! Work is mad and I was called in all weekend, daughter had Covid, little one had a puke party, and hubby's laid up with a bad back! I'm half dead by the time I go to bed and am passed out by 10. Following Thomas's comments I played Julie Andrews yesterday. Compared to Amira she seemed lack lustre and boring. She certainly came nowhere near Amira in those final notes.
